The moon shone brightly as Sola made his way to his room window.

His skin was greeted by the gentle cool wind, causing the thirty-three-year-old man to shiver, as he stared into the sky with a poker face. As he stood by the window side, he hoped the following day would be better than that day.

Christian Olusola Olufemi Ademoye, the son of Late. Isaac Olufemi Ademoye, a criminal who was executed after his deed caught up with him,had decided to walk contrary to the steps of his father.

If only people would get it.

He thought brushing his hands, roughly, through his hair.

How hard he had worked.

How far he had gone, just to prove he was nothing like his father.

A groan escaped his throat as he recalls how CSA, one of the biggest companies in the country, had refused to employ him, without interviewing.

It’s been sixteen freaking years, isn’t that enough time to forget.

That day, Sola had taken a seat when a young man, probably in his late twenties, came out of a room to call him in. He stood up and gave a ‘thank you’ smile to the receptionist, who, he noticed, had been stealing glances at him. She looked away embarrassed as he caught her staring yet again.

The office he walked into was a moderately sized room and three individuals sat across the large table.

Sola began growing cold feet as the look on their face was stern.

The lady among them looked at his academic credentials and called out his name with a questioning look.

His full name.

This caused one of the men to raise his brow.

“Isaac Ademoye?” the other interviewer asked “are you his son?”

Sola signed quietly, the question has, suddenly, made him grow weak. He began feeling the shame he had felt for years.

Ashamed of his father.

Ashamed of his name.

He hesitated before giving a positive reply.

He raised his eyes and look at their faces, he saw the displease and uneasiness so he saved them the stress and walked out, knowing, fully well, what they were about telling him.

Rejection without an interview.

He wasn’t surprised.

The interviewers were stunned by his action, exchanging glances among themselves but made no attempt to call him back.

Amara walked, hurriedly, into the restaurant to get food as her ride was few minutes away.

She had place her order and stood by the counter. Her fingers tapped the top of the counter in a rhythmic way as she scanned the room looking for an empty table to sit while waiting for her food.

Her gaze fell on him as he sat, with his side facing her. She hadn’t seen him since the day he came for the interview at C.S.A.

Amara unconsciously let out a smile as she began approaching his table.

Sola had just begun a daily paying job the previous day and had decided to treat himself. At least this would hold him down till he gets a well paying job.

Hopefully.

He thought as he stares at the sumptuous meal before him.

He lifts his eyes to meet the gaze of a familiar face staring down at him. The lady greets again as she had done to get his attention, still waiting for a response from him.

Realizing how rude it was of him, he apologizes and replies her greeting.

Eyes narrowed, she knew he didn’t recognize her.

“The receptionist at C.S.A” she told him as she lowered her gaze after recalling how she got caught, multiple times, staring at him.

His eye, immediately, lit up in recognition.

It’s been only three days, how, in God’s name did he not recognize her.

Sola introduces himself, then offers her a seat.

“Amara Olawale”
