CHAPTER 22
That afternoon,Khaleed was tired at work,he decided to go home and have his lunch. He was tired of the hospital’s cafetaria food. What he needed was an home made food and he trust Anoushka for preparing that for him. He took off his lab coat and stethoscope,he put on his blazers and headed for the parking lot.
He was surprised when he got home and met Adsh setting the table and Anoushka was nowhere to be found. “You’re home?” Aysh asked after sighting him at the entrance of the dinning.
“Yeah. Where is Anoushka and why are you the one setting the table?” He asked.
“Noushka was feeling tired,i’m sure it’s fever,and couldn’t do anything so i decided to cook since i was getting bored”
“You remember what the doctor said about stressing yourself out,you could loose the baby” Khaleed said.
“I can remember all what the doctor said,come on,it’s just for today” Adsh said taking a seat on the dinning chair. “Are you eating?” She asked already dishing out for herself.
“Of course,i am. But you know you don’t have to stress yourself out” Khaleed said.
“I know” Adsh replied as she helped him in dishing out his food.
As they were eating,Khaleed’s phone started ringing and the caller ID showed it was Javier. “Hello” He said after picking up the call. “Tonight?…..By 8pm?….Okay….Tell him i will be there” He said as he ended the call.
“Who was that?” Adsh asked.
“Javier” He replied.
“What for?”
“We are having dinner with the family tonight”
“We?”
“Yeah. I was the only one invited but i’m taking you along,i have to show him my fiancee. So check your dressing room,take your time and get your best dress,i wouldn’t want to look wretched in front of his family” Khaleed concluded.
Adsh didn’t know why she was feeling strange,maybe because she was afraid of facing Kabir again. She started thinking of declining the offer but she knew well that Khaleed won’t take a no for an answer. As if he knew what was going through her mind,he said. “If you’re thinking about facing Kabir…you just don’t have to worry. I won’t allow him come near you” He said while Adsh just gave him a little smile.
They finished their lunch in silence as Adsh went to take a short nap while Khaleed went bact to work. By 6pm,she woke up and went into the dressing room and started scanning through the cloth rack. After checking out some gowns,she finally settled for a black off-shoulder gown with gold pearls on it,she went to the shoe side and choose a gold wedge sandals,she took a gold necklace and earrings while she dropped everything on the bed as she went to the shower to have her bath. After bathing,she dressed up and took her time to make herself up and went down the stairs to join Khaleed who was waiting for her in the living room.
When she got to the living room,she saw Khaleed looking at her. He was putting on a black trouser with gold shirt and a black suit jacket,a gold handkerchief was neatly folded in his front pocket. The first two buttons on his shirt was opened revealing his perfect abs,he was putting on a gold shoe and his hair was neatly combed to the back. She was surprised seeing him putting on gold and black. They hadn’t planned on wearing the same colour of cloth.
Khaleed saw her coming down the stairs elegantly. She was stunning. She was also wearing black and gold. He didn’t tell her the colour of cloth he was going to wear so why did she wear it? And now they looked like real couple,he wished the dinner was only going to be for the both of them. He started examining her from her hair which was neatly curled. He was surprised when he got to her legs and saw how high her shoe was.
Adsh stood in front of Khaleed, waiting patiently for him to comment on her dressing but all she heard made her to be dissappointed. “Those shoes are high,can’t you get a flatter one?” Khaleed said.
“I can cope” Adsh said.
“But they are high,you should just get another shoe”
“I said i can cope. Isn’t that enough. Stop treating me like a baby please” Adsh said getting annoyed.
“But you’re carrying a baby”
“And that doesn’t make me a baby” Adsh said grabbing the black purse she had dropped earlier on the cushion. “Should we just go or you are going to continue nagging” Adsh said walking past him and he followed behind. When they got to the parking lot,Khaleed went for his new car he had drove only once.It was a black Rolls Royce,and they were good to go.
Their drive to the Dalvetti mansion was made in silence,when they finally got to the mansion’s parking lot,Adsh was about to get down from the car when she heard Khaleed’s voice. “You look beautiful” He said. “See,i’m sorry for the way i behaved earlier,i was just being protective i didn’t know it would upset you”
“It’s okay. Let just go in there. They must be waiting for us” Adsh said smiling.
“So am i forgiven?” Khaleed asked.
“Sure” Adsh said smiling.
“Thanks” Khaleed said placing a light kiss on her forehead.
