CHAPTER 21
Adsh woke up when she heard the sound of the door opening and closing. She knew immediately that she had a company,so she decided to stand up from the bed when she saw a lady dressed in a maids clothing. “Good morning” The lady greeted.
“Good morning” Adsh replied.
“I’m Anoushka,your personal maid but people call me Noushka” The girl said smiling.
“Oh,i think i will prefer calling you Noushka” Adsh said.
“So,you should be fast and get dressed so you can come down for breakfast” Noushka said and left the room.
Adsh stood up from the bed and went to the bathroom. After freshening up,she wore a blue free gown and a flat slippers. When she got to the dinning room,she didn’t see Khaleed like yesterday night. Maybe he is still sleeping-she thought to herself as she took her seat on the chair and was served by one of the maids. She was wondering where Khaleed was when Noushka came to tell her as if she was reading her mind. “Mr Benson left early for work so you shouldn’t be worried about him. He also said to give you this” Noushka said as she stretched an iPhone to her. “He said it’s for your use and his number his stored there already” Noushka said as she left Adsh to devour her meal.

Khaleed was attending to a patient in the hospital when his phone rang. It was Javier. He knew he couldn’t continue to avoid his father’s butler. He had been calling him for the past two weeks trying to set up a dinner between him and his father. Now that Ayesha was awake,he can now agree to the dinner. “Nurse Lyn,please i need to pick this call,continue with the patient” Khaleed told the nurse that was with him and left the ward to pick the call. “Hello” Javier said from the other end of the line.
“Hello” Khaleed answered.
“I was wondering if you’ve thought about the dinner your dad wishes to have with you?” Javier asked
“Yeah,is he free tonight?” Khaleed asked.
“He is free anytime when it comes to you” Javier said. “So i will bring him over to Bliss restaurant by eight”
“Okay,i will be there” Khaleed said as he ended the call and headed back to the ward he just left.
By 8:10pm Khaleed left the hospital and headed to Bliss restaurant. He got there by 8:30pm,he knew he was late but didn’t regret it. He liked keeping him waiting. He went straight into the restaurant and sighted Mason at the far end of the room. He strolled over to where he was sitting and took the seat infront of him.
“Are you Khaleed?” Mason asked.
The fool can’t even recognize his son. Khaleed thought to himself as he gave is father a wicked grin. “Yes,i am” He answered.
“As i expected you to be. I’ve missed you son. I did all i could to get you and your mother but i couldn’t,i’m so sorry son” Mason said.
“Can we just eat? That’s what we are here for anyway” Khaleed said ignoring his father talks.
“Sure” Mason said as they both called the waiter and gave their orders. The waiter later came back with thier orders as they started eating. As they were eating,Khaleed saw a slice of onion in his food and removed to a small side dish in his front it since he didn’t like it. “You don’t eat onions?” Mason asked and Khaleed nodded. “You’re just like your mother,she also hated onions. I remembered those days when i use to buy her onion crakers,she would decline saying she doesn’t like onions and__”
“Oh please Mr Dalvetti,stop behaving as if you care. I know more about my mother than you do” Khaleed said,annoyed.
“I loved Leonise,Khaleed,and__”
“Oh,i know you loved her,that was why you left her alone to go away and you didn’t bother to find us? Don’t you get it? She was lonely,she gave birth to me alone,she didn’t have money,she was taking a petty job all her life,trying to feed herself and her innocent baby while you lived lavishly. Finally she met my stepfather who was a drunk. He came home drunk everyday and beats up my mother and i. Khaleed said amidst tears as he was remembering everything. “He was more annoyed when she couldn’t conceive for him. The foolish man needed a child so he could collect his inheritence but my mother couldn’t give him that. He beats her before going to drink then comes home drunk and beat her up again. She was helpless,she didn’t have where to go than to stay. I was only fifteen years when he shot her dead,if i hadn’t been hiding in the wardrobe who knows,i would have been dead also. After he left the house, i had to run away”
More tears.
“I had to leave the house before he could ki*ll me like he killed my mother. I struggled alone taking different jobs so that i can also go to school and be rich like you. So that i can show you what your abandoned child has grown up to be. So that mum could be happy and proud of me wherever she is” He said as he cleaned his tears. “Where were you then? I’m very sure you didn’t remember her. Of course you had a perfect family,why would you care?”
“I’m sorry,i tried looking for both of you but couldn’t find you. I promise to make it all up to you” Mason apologized.
“Make it up?” Khaleed scoffed. “Will making everything up to me bring back my mother? If it would then i will gladly accept everything you offer”
Mason sighed. “It won’t bring her back but it would make up for past bad memories. I promise”
Khaleed just laughed and stood up cleaning his tears.”I’m sorry,but i have to leave now. I have better things to do at home” As he was turning to leave Mason voice stopped him. “Khaleed please when i call you next time i will like you to honour my call as you’ve done today and thank you for seeing me” He said as Javier ran over to his side and assisted him out. When he got into his car he allowed his unshed tears flow freely.
Khaleed also got into his car and headed home. He was welcomed by Anoushka who was at the living room. “How are you,Anouska?” He asked as he headed towards the stairs.
“Fine,but Miss Scanlon is waiting for you in the dinning room” Noushka said.
“Waiting for me?” He said checking his wristwatch “But this is 10:10pm and she hasn’t eaten,why?” Khaleed asked suprised.
“I also insisted for her to eat that you do come home late most times but she said she was going to wait up for you” Noushka explained.
“That fool” He mumbled as he headed towards the dinning and there she was sitting and playing game on her iPhone. “What exactly is wrong with you?” Khaleed said as her head shot up to look at him.
“Huh? You’re home? She asked.
He closed his eyes and took in a deep breath to control his anger. He opened his eyes. “As you can see i am. So now tell me why you haven’t eaten,you know that you’re carrying a baby and you also know what the doctor said” Khaleed said.
“I was waiting up for you” She replied.
“Okay. Now i’m here and i’m full so eat up”
“Unfortunately the food got cold,so i will just go straight to bed” Adsh said trying to rise up from the bed. “Sit” Khaleed commanded while she sat back. “I will get Anoushka to microwave it and you are going to eat it” Khaleed said as he called Noushka and asked her to microwave the food while he went up to freshen up. As he was going down the stairs to check if she was done with her food,he saw her coming to her room. “Are you done?” He asked to be sure.
“Yeah,so thanks for the phone” She said waving the phone in the air.
“You’re welcome. My number is stored there so if you need anything just call me”
“Sure. So do you want to talk about why you were late tonight maybe it has something to do with you looking gloomy?” Adsh started.
“I met my dad” He said looking down.
“Oh” Adsh said not wanting to press further. “I will head to bed first” Adsh said leaving while Khaleed trailed behind him. She turned back all of a sudden and saw him at her back. “Anything else?” She asked.
“Nothing. Just want to tuck you into bed”
“I’m not a baby”
“I know,but you’re carrying a baby so let’s go” He said spinning her around as they both walked towards her room. She went straight to the bed and lay on it while Khaleed covered her with the blue duvet as he sat down and was staring at her. She was so beautiful. She had done what nobody had done for him before-waiting up for him-he liked her more for that.
“Are you going to keep staring or go to your room?” Adsh voice brought him out of his thoughts.
“Hmmm?” He said not hearing what she said earlier.
“I said are you going to continue staring or go to your room?” She repeated.
“I want to watch my fiancee go to sleep” He said dreamily.
“Before i forget,there’s something i want to discuss with you” Adsh said sitting up on the bed.
“What’s that?”
“I was thinking of aborting the baby so it won’t be an hinderance in getting what i want from the Dalvetti’s. I just wanted to discuss it with you first”
“And where is that coming from,Adsh?” Khaleed asked frowning.
“Huh?”
“You’re not aborting the baby” Khaleed finalized.
“Why? I was thinking__”
“Adsh,this child you are carrying is my brother’s and i wouldn’t want you to hurt it no matter the grudges i have against him and you’re also my fiancee and i wouldn’t want to take the risk” Khaleed said.
“I’m not your fiancee”
“But you’re acting as one so you’re stuck with me” Khaleed said. Adsh wanted to protest but he stopped her. “Get some sleep” He said as he stood from the bed and watched her lay back,then he adjusted the duvet and pecked her temple before switching off the light to the room and said his goodnight.

“Kay,you must be very mad,for the past two months now you’ve been telling me you haven’t found that girl,i’m damn sure that girl is alive. How could you be so daft?” Gabriel said to Kay after he had snuck away from his room to speak with him in the study.
“I’m sorry boss,but i’ve been trying to find her for the past two months but i couldn’t,let’s just believe she’s dead boss” Kay said from the other end of the line.
“How could you be so foolish? I don’t have time for your stupid talks just get me that girl dead or alive”
“Which girl?” Gabriel heard Gage voice from the doorway and immediately ended the call,he put his phone in his pyjamas pocket before turning to his son. “What girl dad? And who were you talking with?”
“No..girl..and i was talking…no…i wasn’t talking to anyone” Gabriel stammered. “So why aren’t you asleep?”
“Had trouble with sleeping so i wanted to pick up a novel so i could sleep” Gage explained.
“Then get it and and go to bed” Gabriel said moving towards his son. “Goodnight son” he sat patting his shoulder.
“Goodnight dad” He replied.
