CHAPTER 26

After work Khaleed headed to Bliss. He knew very well that Gage would have been waiting for him but that was his luck,he wasn’t ready to meet with him anyway.

 

He got to bliss and headed towards the bar section and sat down on one of the bar stool while he used his eyes to scan the restaurant for Gage.

 

Then he sighted him sitting at the far end of the room,he saw him bringing out his phone,he knew at once he wanted to call him. He picked up at the third ring.

 

“Gentleman,you’ve kept me waiting for two hours now,aren’t you coming anymore?” Gage asked furiously.

 

“Chill man,i’m also a man of my own” Khaleed said disguising his voice again. “Why don’t you while away your time,order a drink,that would keep you busy”

 

“Whether i drink or not is none of your f****ng business,just get your a$$ here” Gage said getting more annoyed.

 

“Okay,suit yourself” Khaleed said ending the call.

 

Gage was so annoyed. What does the foolish guy take him for. Just because he wanted to know Ayesha’s whereabout. The guy was right afterall,he needed a drink. He signalled for the waiter and ordered a drink. All this while Khaleed was watching.

 

After an hour and Khaleed still didn’t show up,Gage was so furious,he picked his phone and called Khaleed.

 

“Look here dude,die with your information,i’m not even curious anymore. Aysh is dead and may she rest in peace”

 

“Waow,i never knew you could get annoyed so easily. Just wait a little bit more” Khaleed said with a mockery tone.

 

“Wait a little bit more? This is 9:30pm for goodness sake. See i’m outta here” He said standing up and leaving his seat.

 

“Okay then. I guess there will be a next time” Khaleed said watching him go.

 

After he made sure Gage couldn’t be seen anymore he walked towards his table,took his cup and put his saliva sample into a small transparent nylon and left the restaurant. As he was about to step into his car,his phone rang. It was Vincent.

 

“Hey Vincent,you got it?” He asked.

 

“Sure,come get it at my place tonight. The more i see the stuff the more it irritates me”

 

“Tonight? Can’t it wait till tomorrow,Adsh would be waiting for me” Khaleed said.

 

“I don’t care. I said the stuff irritates me and moreover Babe is coming over tonight and i don’t want her to see it,unless you want me to throw it out”

 

“Babe? Your girlfriend? I thought you guys broke up”

 

“Yes,but we patched things up and now she’s coming over tonight so come get your spit!!!” Vincent shouted into the phone and hung up before Khaleed could answer.

 

“Okay!!!” Khaleed also shouted into the phone pissed on how vincent shouted at him. He drove over to his house. He parked his car in Vincent’s parking lot and walked over to the front door before knocking slightly. Vincent opened the door and stretched the saliva sample to him.

 

“Aren’t you going to invite me in?” Khaleed asked.

 

“You said Adsh will be waiting for you,why can’t you just leave already?” Vincent said.

 

Khaleed just smiled knowingly. “Okay,i know babe is in there,tell her i said hi”

 

“Okay” was all Vincent said before slamming the door on Khaleed’s face.

 

“That brat” Khaleed mumbled as he left the front porch and went to his car. When he got into it,he saw that he had five missed call from Adsh. She must be waiting for him. He took the two saliva sample and kept it in his car drawer and drove away.

 

He got home,parked his car in the parking lot and started walking towards the house. When he got to the front door he saw Adsh standing there wrapped in a shawl and smiling at him. It felt good but she wasn’t supposed to be in the cold due to her pregnancy that by now was showing.

 

He walked over to her and pecked her on her forehead. “You shouldn’t have waited” He said smiling down at her.

 

“I was worried,next time if you’re going to come home late you have to call me. Didn’t you see my calls that you missed?” Adsh said frowning while Khaleed was just looking at her and smiling.

 

She had called his house a home. He didn’t expect her to call it a home. He hadn’t even thought of building a home after what happened to his mother. Now it really felt like home and Adsh was talking like a stern wife. “Something came up” He finally spoke up.

 

“What’s that?”

 

“Let’s go inside and discuss not here in the cold” He said as he wrapped his hand around her shoulder and led her inside. Adsh released herself when they got inside and went over to prepare tea for the both of them. Khaleed explained everything that happened that day to her while drinking tea.

 

“So you’re going to get the DNA done tomorrow?” She asked.

 

“Yeah”

 

“That’s a good idea”

 

“You need to get to bed,you’re looking tired” Khaleed said.

 

“Sure” Adsh said standing up and walked over to the stairs that led to her room,she felt kabir sweep her off her feet. She was caught unaware,so she quickly wrapped her arms around his neck. “What are you doing?” She asked shocked.

 

“Trying to help you up the stairs” He replied.

 

“I’ve been doing that without any problem so i see no__”

 

“Just keep quiet and allow me” Khaleed said taking her up the stairs gently. When they got to her room he dropped her on the bed,switched off the bedside lamp and kissed her on her temple before leaving her to sleep.

The next day,Khaleed went over to drop the two saliva samples in the hospital laboratory and he was told to come back for the result in two weeks time. As he was walking back to the office,his phone started ringing and the caller ID showed ‘Mr Dalvetti’. He went over to a secluded place to pick the call.

 

“Hello,Mr Dalvetti” He said.

 

“When will you stop calling me that,you can call me father now” Mason said from the other end of the line.

 

“I’ll try”

 

“So i called to inform you that i will resign tomorrow and a new chairman will be appointed for my company. There’s a general meeting for all shareholders and managing directors of my company,including family” Mason said.

 

“Okay. But i don’t know why you’re telling me this” Khaleed said knowing fully well where his father was headed.

 

“I want you to be there since you’re also family,you and your fiancee” Mason said.

 

“Okay,i will see to that”

 

“Okay,bye son”

 

Khaleed smiled to himself after ending the call,he knew what his father was getting at. He was going to attend tomorrow meeting and make the best out of it.

The DAL’S COOPERATION conference room was filled with different people from different part of the world. It was the day the new chairman of the company was going to be announced. Everyone took thier seat waiting patiently for the chairman and his family. Later,Mason,Dora and Kabir walked into the conference room and took their seats. After taking their seat,a shareholder asked “Shall we start,Mr Dalvetti”

 

“No,not yet. Someone will join us very soon” Mason said.

 

Just then Kabir and Adsh walked into the conference room. Adsh was putting on a purple flair gown concealing her baby bump with a black wedge sandal while Khaleed wore a red suit. “I apologize for coming late” Khaleed said bowing while Adsh followed.

 

“It’s okay,just take your seat” Mason said motioning for both of them to seat down.

The people in the conference room started mumbling wondering who Khaleed and Adsh were.

 

Dora was furious at their sight,she knew what her husband was capable of doing. She looked over at her son and couldn’t read his facial expression. “We can now start” Mason voice brought her out of her thoughts.

 

He stood up and walked over to the microphone. “Before i start anything i would like to introduce my first child to you all” He said pointing to Khaleed. “His name is Khaleed Dalvetti” Mason said smiling at Khaleed.

 

“I know you all will be surprised and you all have questions,well,Khaleed here is my son for another woman while Kabir is from my wife,Theodora Dalvetti” Mason explained while everyone listened to him patiently.

 

“Now let’s move to the reason why we’re here” He said raising up his right palm. “I,Mason Dalvetti,hereby step down from my post as the Chairman of this company and to hand it over to one of my children. I hereby announce Khaleed Dalvetti as the new chairman of DAL’S COOPERATION”

 

Kabir and Dora eyes shot up immediately,they were both surprised. Kabir looked at how Khaleed walked up to the stage to join his father while the shareholders clapped for him. He looked at the way Kabir and his father shook hand before they finally hugged.

 

He looked at the way Adsh was smiling at her fiancee. They were happy and him and his mother were here burning with anger. He looked at the way Khaleed gave his speech and promised the people present about how he was going to take good care of the company. He looked at the way Adsh went to hug him and the shareholders also went to congratulate him,but he couldn’t hear anything. Finally everyone went back to their seat and Mason took the microphone again.

 

“And the one that would be assisting the chairman is no other person than my second son,Kabir Dalvetti. He’s now the new vice chairman of the company” Mason said as Kabir also stood up to give his speech.

 

What? Vice Chairman? The post doesn’t even exist. Why is dad making a post that doesn’t exist for me? Kabir thought as he went to join his father on the stage. His father hugged him and shook his hand but his mother didn’t. Khaleed and Adsh also came to congratulate him with some shareholders but he wasn’t happy. Many shareholders were not happy with Mason decision but he was the owner of the company and would hand over to anyone he liked.

 

Dora was furious,she wanted to strangle her husband till he wouldn’t be able to breath. He used her son for a post that doesn’t even exist. Second-in-command,while he has always been the one that worked for the good of the company. She took her purse in annoyance and left the conference room.

 

Kabir had seen her leave and he followed her.
