Chapter 24
Monday★
Babe’s POV
“Morning mum” I greeted on entering the kitchen. The enticing aroma coming from what she is making filled my nostril. I gently laid my head on her back, pulling her into a tight hug; I don’t know why I’m feeling this way, but starting from the previous day, I have been feeling really joyful.

“Hey, you wouldn’t wanna injure the baby, hugging me that way, will you?” She asked, I giggled slightly, holding her closer.

“I miss you” I pouted, acting childish. “She pulled my hands off ” You are suffocating me dear, arggh….I have been here all along, why miss me” she questioned, taking out a plate.

“I don’t know, I just need a hug this morning”

She smiled, rubbing my back a bit. “I understand how you feel, it’s your pregnancy hormones giving way.

“What are you making” ” Some Canadian delicacy, trust you will like it. I learnt it from work place.”

“Hmmm…it smells delicious…but I don’t think I will wait to eat it” I noted, walking towards the fridge to bring out a jar of milk.

“Why….you shouldn’t starve yourself Babe” she scolded

“I’m not mum, I will just have a little milk, and whereas, we do have breakfast at work….I’m running late already, I don’t wanna keep Morris waiting for too long” I replied, stuffing my mouth with the milk. I heard her sigh
“Fine…but make sure you eat well, I’m only pardoning you cos today is Monday, and I don’t want you late for work ”

I smiled going to give her a peck on her cheek “Thanks ermm, I promise to eat a lot at work…bye”

I dashed out of the kitchen, grabbing my bag as I head out. I could cite Morris standing by his car a distance away. I paused to check him out; he looks amazingly cute this morning, dressed in a navy blue trouser with white sleeve shirt, which hug his body perfectly. My lips spread out in a smile as I cover up the distance to meet him.

“Good morning” I greeted, startling him a bit, he turned to face me. I chuckled

His usual bright smile came up, with a glint of happiness in his eyes. “Morning Babe, how was your night” he asked, tucking his two hands into his trousers.

“It was fine ..erm, hope I didn’t keep you waiting?” “not at all, I got here just now…so are you set to go, hope you didn’t leave anything behind ..cos women are fond of leaving things..” he smirked, making me laugh. “Stop that….anyways, I didn’t” I replied puking his shoulder with my finger.

He chuckled “Fine let’s go ….” “Baby…sweetheart hold on….” A lady called out, coming out of Morris’s apartment, wearing just a bum short with an armless singlet. In her hand is a jacket with she held firmly, cat walking towards us. I stared confusingly; who is she? I got no reply, cos it wasn’t voiced out. Morris face hardened a bit, but he was fast to ease his angry look just when she got to us.

“You forgot this…the cold is mild out there, you shouldn’t leave the suit jacket behind” she muttered, handling him the cloth. He collected it with a sigh, not replying her.

She turned to face me with a quite devilish smirk on. “Ermm, who is she?” I was forced to speak up this time. “She is my…” Morris was about saying when the peacock chipped in.

“I’m his girlfriend, Lela by name, and you are?” She stretched forth her hand for a handshake, which I reluctantly accept. “Babe….a neighbor”

“Oh…you are that hitchhiker he usually take to work…hmm, thought you were a cleaner, do they dress this professional to work…or wait a minute, I think I mix it up…you work as a waitress right?” She grinned, folding her arms. I gulped in, my heart churn.

“Lela stop ..you are embarrassing her” Morris angry voice came up. She gasped. “I didn’t say anything wrong ..I’m only saying the truth about….”

“I said that’s enough, I won’t watch you insult her that way….and whereas, I never needed the jacket, but thanks anyway. ” He shunned her. Her smiley face fell, she formed a pouty face, but not after glaring at me.

“I’m sorry…” “Good…let’s go Babe” he muttered, pleadingly. She hurriedly pulled him into a hug, pecking his lips before I could reply, I couldn’t feel my legs anymore, I wish to just crumble to the earth, but it just wouldn’t happen.

“I’m really sorry…baby” she pleaded, still holding him. “You shouldn’t beg me ..but her” Morris noted, referring to me. I quickly intervene.

“No she doesn’t have to, I…will just find my way…”

“No Babe, no…please let me drive you to work” he pleaded, grabbing my hand. I glanced at his so called girlfriend who simply rolled her eyes. I will just have to do this once, I don’t think I will keep up with it next time. “Ok” I breathed out, walking towards the passenger seat. Normally, I would love sitting at the front, but this scenario has taken off that morale.

“Thanks” I heard him say, without giving a response. He muttered something to the girl before taking the driver’s seat. “Are you comfortable at the back….you love staying…”

“I’m ok here Morris, you don’t need to bother” I noted, giving him a reassuring smile, though it wasn’t from my heart.

The drive to office was silent, none of us brought up a topic. He parked the car at the park, while I intend to alight but found the door locked. “We need to talk Babe” he spoke up, turning off the engine. He pulled off his seat belt, turning backward to face me. “About earlier, erm.. I’m sorry about Lela.” I said nothing

“She is actually…” “You don’t need to feel bothered Morris, I perfectly understand you…and erm her also….it’s fine actually” I chopped in. He nods

“And one more thing….I wanted to speak about this yesterday, I sent you a message about it, I don’t know if you got it” he asked. I squinted.

“What message, I didn’t get any…perhaps I didn’t check”

“Well, it’s better to explain it in details now .. actually, someone is in need of a nanny for his daughter” he dropped the bombshell
I frown
“Look, I know you enjoy your job more…but this pays a lot…like triple or more than the amount you get. Though, I know you might not want it, but I’m assuring you that you will love this job, more than that of the company…cos, it’s of less stress and all that. And the little girl is so sweet…she wouldn’t give you problem, trust me” he rushed his words, his breathing a bit hitched.

I sighed, thinking about it…being a nanny will involve me leaving my family, to stay in the house…I can’t say for sure, and my condition…gosh..no I can’t accept this.
I shook my head
“I’m sorry Morris…but I can’t accept this offer…I’m pleased with my job..and erm…I just won’t leave it…please understand me…..it’s not about what happened earlier, trust me…I’m not turning you down on purpose….”

“I understand…it’s ok. But if you…you know…have a rethink and wish to take it, let me know on time..I will still leave the spot for you”

I nodded. He unlock the door, giving me the chance to alight. I heave a sigh of relief walking into the company. That b!tch just succeeded in ruining my morning; I can’t believe he has a girlfriend and didn’t mention it to me. And I’m here falling foolishly for him….f**k men.
