Chapter 16
Babe’s POV
Phew..I blurted out just as Morris drive into the park way. The sight before me is more than glamorous. Standing at the center of this large compound is the Green Lotion company, painted in white colour with few touches of green.

The numbers of cars parked here should tell of how rich the workers are. I mean, who wouldn’t be rich working in such a company where cleaners earn more than some civil servants…damn, this is a dream come through. I smiled rubbing my tummy, I don’t know why, but I’m fond of doing that.
“Rubbing your tummy again?” Morris asked, turning off the ignition. I blush, didn’t see that coming though.

“Nah ..just placing my hand on it” I replied. He scoffed. “I have seen you do that a good number of times…is it just an addiction..or something is actually in there…” He asked, raising one of his brows. I gulped in thinking of something to distract this moment. I don’t want him to know now that I am pregnant, until I get the job.

I mean, who would wanna hire a pregnant lady for a cleaning job…sure it will take time before the bulge becomes visible…but Morris wouldn’t like me working as such in this condition
“Wow…is that a see-through elevator” I asked with a gasp, tucking off my seat belt. He looked forward and nod

“Yes… haven’t you seen one before?” “I have… just that, I haven’t been opportune to work anywhere where it’s being used…gosh this is an opportunity. I will see the ground floor from above.” I yelp in glee. He chuckled, as we both alight the car.
“Babe?” He called. “Yea”

“Ermm…one more thing about Green limited…aside the fact that the company pays well and is of great help to it’s workers, the CEO is kinda eem…..” He paused, pressing his lips together. I battled my eye lashes waiting for him to speak up

“He is a bit harsh in nature…kind yea ..but he loves his work so much that he can fire anyone at the slightest mistake. You shouldn’t get on his bad side ..infact, you might not get to meet him being in the ermm.. sanitation department. So let’s call that your luck” he puffed, relaxing his shoulder after a wide smile. One thing I like bout him is his sincerity.

I shrugged
“I ain’t gonna cross his path then….if I see him coming from the left, I will just turn right” I noted firmly, trying to form a serious face. He bust into laughter, I laughed along
“Come on Babe…that’s not what I am talking about….”
“Yea..yea..I know…just joking. Just like you said, we might never cross path.”
“I hope’ he breathed out….but I heard him clearly.

“This is your uniform…you can go change over there in the closet. Hurry up..go change” A chubby woman in perhaps her mid fifties, dressed in the cleaners uniform, just like mine, muttered, handing me the dress.

She had a badge on her left brea$t pockets, showing her rank as a senior worker. Does it mean she has been working her for a long time, as a cleaner? I thought, walking to the closet to change up.

Walking back to her, she had a brief smile on her face. I looked up to notice the absence of Morris.

“You look nice in the dress young lady” she smiled. I nodded, returning it with a thanks.
“Where is Morris?” I asked. “Huhn..”

“Ermm..the young man I came with” I tried rewinding my earlier statement.

“Oh you mean Mr. Santiago…he has to resume work too….anyways enough of the questions..here is your hand brush and bucket .we will start with the entrance glasses. As you can see, most of our workers are here already, which mean you need to come early to clean up the surroundings before work starts in full.” She explained. I picked up the bucket and brush, walking side by side with her. Nodding to anything she says

“You will get to meet others later..for now we need to start work…goodness…I think I forgot to bring the detergent. Opss, just walk along…the first entrance by your right dear…I will join you..” she cooed, leaving me with my mouth hung open.

I shrugged
She seem nice.

I couldn’t help but admire the workers who came passing by, dressed in their official wears, just like Morris; the men were dressed in suit, some just a mere sleeve shirt. The female aunt exempted, their dressing is top notch.

I got to know from Sam…that the boss love his workers to dress decently while coming to work..even those that works in the factory..they will only get to change into their work overalls when they want to start operating the machines.

“Don’t stare too much…come on do your work” She muttered into my ear after watching me gawk at the workers making their way to the entrance.”oh..” I simply replied, focusing my attention on the glass I’m cleaning. Sam is actually the mid old lady with me.

“Wait here dear and finish this up….I want to make use of the toilet…ohh” Sam said, grabbing her stomach. “I think I ate something bad” she chuckled, running song.

I almost laughed at her expression, she must be having a runny stomach. Poor lady.

I continued my work, paying close attention to my surroundings. Cleaning is more like a hobby to me, well, I can’t remember my past life but I’m very such I was really hardworking.

“All done” I muttered, smiling at myself for the good job I have done. My eyes wondered to the main entrance door, it hasn’t been cleaned up. Sam didn’t tell me to clean that up, perhaps she forgot. As my job per say, then I will have to do that too…it will show how diligent I am to this work.

I went ahead with the cleaning, scrubbing and washing off the dust on the glass entrance door. I should have done this earlier before people starts trooping in. It’s not really dusty, seems like someone had done the cleaning, earlier, but didn’t perfect it. I will just do the perfect job, I grinned.

I was so engross with it, humming a song as I swing my hips along to the sound, not noticing the presence of someone behind. I have unconsciously blocked the entrance way without knowing.

“Huhhn” someone cleared his throat from behind. It sounds masculine. I stopped abruptly, titling my head backward, with the thought of just looking once and focusing back on my work. But his sight caught me striken with shock written in my face. I stood with mouth widely open, looking at the demi-god standing few feet away from me.

I’m actually really bad in description, but his looks could ki*ll..what the f..

I was yet to complete the f word when he spoke; really magical. “When you are done drooling, just move out of my way” he muttered in a cold voice. I almost scoffed but stopped myself before I could. Why the hell would he think I’m drooling….damn him.

“Oh…sorry” I simply replied, not wanting to create a fuse about it. I picked up my bucket filled with soapy water, trying to move out of the way, only to trip on the tiles floor, falling directly to the ground.

“Oach” I groaned, holding unto my stomach. Did I hurt my baby…no, it must not be. I waited for anyone to perhaps give me a hand, pulling me up, but got none. The f**kin demi-god isn’t a gentleman…he can’t even .. I paused, midway in my thought, looking up to see an awful…kinda funny sight.

My bucket was rolling on the floor with the soapy water splashed on no one else but the demi god. “Argh..” I gasp, getting off the ground, with my palm covering my mouth. His face hardened as he balled his hand into a fist, glaring hard at me. The water had completely drained him from his head downward, leaving the foams to rest on his hair and other part of the expensive suit he wore on.

“I’m…I’m..I’m” I stammered, wondering how I became a sputterer

“You are…fired” “Sorry” we said the same time. My eyes popped out, did I just hear him clearly..I mean who is he to fire me. I huff, still thinking of the right word to tell him when two men dressed in black suit came forward to drag me away. They were actually behind him all along. Who the hell are they.

“What the hell…you can’t just fire me…for goodness sake you ain’t even the boss dimwit” I yelled trying to free myself from their grib

The demi god looking as***ole simply scoff, ignoring me as he walked into the building. “God damn you, I just resumed…it wasn’t my fault that I fell..hey white head…listen to me…” I rant, almost create a scene as some passerby peek to see my struggles

“You have to step out quietly ma’am” one of the men on suit noted. I glared at him, walking out of the gate. Everything felt like a dream ..wait..is this real.
