Chapter 61
Babe’s POV
I don’t know why I burst into tears just immediately I set my eyes on my mum. Is it just me being emotional, or my hormones reacting in such way. She came to hug me patting my back, while Luciano watched from a step away as she tried consoling me. This is definitely a tear of joy; seeing my mum again after a while since I left home. It’s kinda really hard being away from the people you call family, especially during this pregnancy stage.

We went into the house afterwards, as Luciano exchange pleasantries with my mum. I managed to check out the apartment they now live in; there are some changes to it different from the previous house. Mum had told me about their change of apartment after I sent the first money I made. She said that getting a better house would do, and I agreed to that.

“It’s an honor to have you in my house Mr. Luciano, you’re honourably welcome” mum stated, smiling at Luciano who bowed a little before giving his response

“It’s my pleasure..mum” he replied, shocking me to the bones, he just called her mum too. A soft smile crept up my face.

Mum spared me a glance, perhaps checking out my dressing. My belly is clearly visible, was she thinking I’m still hiding it. She was trying to get signals from me; I didn’t tell her I was coming with Luciano, she doesn’t even know about our relationship.

“Err…it’s really surprising to see you come here with Babe, hope there is nothing wrong?” She asked, with much effort again, returning her gaze to my tummy. I grabbed Luciano’s hand in mine, as our fingers interwind. She squinted making me chuckled.

” Not at all ma. Well, Babe here is not just my mere worker, she’s now more than that. As a matter of fact, that’s the main reason why we are here, because I have decided to relief Babe off her work, due to her condition.” He noted, sparing me a glance. We didn’t discuss that while coming here, but I hope he doesn’t turn me out of his house, cos I still wanna see him everyday..I pouted.

“I’m really sorry about what she did…we did actually, cos, I agreed to her hiding the pregnancy in order to get a job. We needed money badly; I don’t know how you managed to find out, but please forgive us” mum pleaded. Luciano smiled.

“I hold no grudge, as a matter of fact, Babe here had agreed to fill the space in my heart which has been empty for so long. ” He muttered, looking directly into my eyes. I smiled out a little.

“I love your daughter Ma, so much and I’m ready to accept her, as she is. I only wanted your consent to this relationship. It’s really weird for a man to come from nowhere and decide to date your pregnant daughter, even with her having a baby. But my love for Babe is beyond what I see in her tummy, she brought light to my life and happiness to my daughter. She’s being like a mother to her, with the cares and love she showers on the little girl.

I don’t want to date her behind your back, cos there are many secrets about the pregnancy which is yet to be resolved; and only you know about it” he concluded, looking at me to continue. We had a brief discussion in the car while coming; he had told me to ask my mum about my baby’s father, it would be right I know who he is to avoid future problems. I breathed in, looking directly at mum who was feeling sober. Luciano is really good at making speeches, what do you expect from a world wide billionaire who attends lots of conference meetings.

“Mum..erm, I and Luciano have decided to have the child as ours, but first, it wouldn’t be right if I also don’t know the father of my child. I’m curious mum, please tell me. I don’t want to face further complications in the future. Yes you don’t want me to be reminded of my past, perhaps you don’t like the person that impregnated me, but..I promise, I won’t go back to that past. I have a bright future ahead, why should I go back to what gave me a scar. Still, knowing him for the sake of my child is also the best” I explained
She sighed, shrugging.

“What’s the point keeping it away from you dear, you’ve gotten a better fellow, and I’m totally in support of your relationship. I have heard a lot about you Mr. Luciano, you are a man of integrity. But what I won’t like is you hurting my daughter the same way the former did. I wanted her to heal of the scar, have the baby before thinking of moving on, but..if this is the way fate wants it then who am I to resist two love birds from having what they think is best. In her condition, she really needs to be cared for; I’m such a bad mother for allowing her to work…” She cleaned a strand of tears on her face.

“Mum you are not, come on; remember I agreed to do this myself, it’s for the betterment of our family. For you, for Helen” I chipped in. She nodded repeatedly, cleaning off her tears, sniffing in, before speaking up.

“I’m sorry for keeping you in the dark too dear. Just because you have loss of memory shouldn’t make me keep away vital information from you. You once dated a well known billionaire back in the states, known as Harry Pierce, the owner of the popular Pierce Oil company. I never liked the guy since I found out about your relationship with him, it didn’t start right. in fact, he had never shown his face at my house to identify himself as your boyfriend. Despite being filthy rich, he didn’t support you one bit in anything; we still drown in poverty.

You do go out with him whenever he needs to be with you, but never has he visited our home to see his girlfriend’s family. He isn’t trained, not mannered, but you felt he was your choice of man, and I had to step out of it, until you got pregnant for him. Yea, I was really angry, but you were sure he wouldn’t deny it, until you came home crying that he did. You got into an accident because of him, loss your memory because of him, but still, he didn’t even show up.” She sighed, straighting her skirt.

“And here we are, I had to bring you here” she noted. I burst into another round of tears, struggling to get on my knees. “I’m sorry mum…I didn’t know I caused you much stress…I’m..such a bad daughter”

“It’s ok dear…it’s already in the past, and I’m happy to see you make changes. All you need to focus on is how to take care of your baby, and have a wholesome new relationship..Harry is not here, he wouldn’t bother you” she noted, pulling me up. Luciano spoke up

“Harry is here…he is the stranger that met you at the party” he noted, making my heart leaped. Mum gasped
“What does he want from my daughter again?” She seethed. Luciano sighed, rubbing his temple.

“We had a conversation together, he wants the baby?’ “what” mum and I shriek

“And you didn’t tell me about this, you know Harry?” I asked. He shook his head, explaining in details his encounter with him, how he wanted a business proposal and all that. “This is becoming a thug of war”
