CHAPTERS 38 & 39

Rhea POV

“What?!!” I exclaimed, I don’t think I heard that well,I looked at Mikel but he was not looking surprised, does he know about this?

“My dear Rhea, what’s the problem? Don’t you want to marry my son?” She asked me but I could only blink my eyes.

“Mrs Salvador, it’s…”

“Rhea I can’t wait to get my son married to you, you are such a sweet soul. I will be upstairs.” She patted my shoulders and went upstairs leaving Mikel and me.

“Mikel, what’s the meaning of this? Why aren’t you surprised?”

“She said it to me before your arrival.” He said solemnly.

“And why didn’t you object?”

“Because I have never gone against her,I always want to make her happy.”

“Even when you are not happy with the situation?” He nodded.

“But I can’t get married to you, what’s all this for crying out loud! You should tell your mum you like someone else, not me, introduce Kenzie to her.”

“She won’t listen to me, she really likes you a lot.” I signed.

“Do you really wish to get married to me?”

“Since you are not bad, why not?” He said staring at me with desires and I swallowed hard.

This nonsense must stop, I guess I have to do things that Mrs. Salvador dislikes, I want her to hate me.

~NEW YORK
UNKNOWN RESIDENCE

The doorbell ranged and I quickly went to open it revealing Anthony at the door, his face still remains the same though a little older.

“Eliza?” He called and I hugged him tightly, crying my eyes out and he hugged me back.

“Anthony I missed you,” I said after disengaging from the hug and leading him into the sitting room.

“Eliza, this is really good to be true, everyone taught you are dead, what happened?”

“It’s a long story darling but I will cut it short.”

Iris came into view and she beamed happily seeing Anthony.

“Father!” She went to hug him making Anthony confused.

“I know this kid, I visited their school today.” He said and I smiled.

“She’s your daughter.” He looked shocked.

“How is that possible?”

“Like I said it’s a long story but will short it.”

~FLASHBACK
I left home and I headed to our family hospital since am not feeling too well.

I came out of the hospital happily,I just got confirmed pregnant. I can’t wait to tell my husband about this great news even Roland will be very happy since he has always wanted a baby.

I entered my car driving home when I noticed a suspicious car at my back,I have noticed this particular car ever since I left the hospital. Am I being trailed? The road was quiet so I was trying to drive out into the open when the car double-crossed me.

The inhabitants of the car came out in masks and they came directly to my car.

“Come out!” I calmly came out of the car.

“Get into our car?” I obliged.

I looked at the dark room I was kept in and I couldn’t help but cry.

The door opened and a guy came in and he locked the door.

“Mrs. Eliza, you should thank your stars, am not here to harm you but to help you escape secretly. Please be quick, my colleagues must not know am doing this.” He said.

“Why are you helping me?”

“Because you helped me before in the past though you might not remember but please keep up the good acts. You need to be careful with the people around you, someone very close to you told us to ki*ll you but I can’t let my benefactor get killed. You need to get out of California as soon as possible and don’t worry,I will handle everything.” He said.

~BACK TO PRESENT

“Wow! This is unbelievable.”

“So he helped me escape while I was in disguise. He helped me to get on the flight to NEW YORK,I impersonated a passenger. And now am here living alone with our daughter Iris.”

“Am sure when I tell Roland, he will be very happy, he’s always thinking about you.”

“Aww my baby boy, am sure he has grown to be very handsome. Please can you arrange his visit to New York? I can’t go back to California yet because I need to be in hiding until I find out who wants to ki*ll me.”

“Sure let me arrange for his flight and I try my possible best to get the person that wants to end your life.” He said.

“Iris my love, you shall see your brother soon,” Anthony said and she smiled happily.

Roland POV
📱I want you to come over to New York next thing tomorrow, I have arranged your flight already.

📱 What’s the problem, Dad?

📱You shall see for yourself, it’s a surprise

And with that, he hung up, I guess what the surprise is?
