Chapter 8

They continued to talk about the various fashion designers he knew. And from the list she had been hearing, he knew quite a lot of them.

Especially the females.

But go figure, one would guess they were mad if someone didn’t want to know him.

He is quite handsome.

A tall, lean figure with strong muscular arms that could be seen through the blazer.

Dark, chocolate hair that was always smoothed back into a slick hairstyle.

And a cheeky, but mysterious smile that painted his thick lips.

But the most captivating thing about him was his smouldering look that seemed to bore through you.

“— and I think that was all,” he finished.

At the same time, they had finished their meals, leaving only empty plates and full stomachs.

The waiter soon came and took their meals, placing the cheque in the middle of the table, ready for her to take it.

Of course, that is what she thought before he took it right in front of her.

“Wait, I’m suppose to pay for us,” she said, reaching towards the cheque.

“Don’t worry, I can handle it. It would be horrible if I didn’t pay you for showing me this wonderful restaurant.”

“That wasn’t the point,” she frowned,

“I was supposed to treat you.”

She reached across the table and was about to grab it but he quickly held it back.

Surprised that he would even do that, she stared at him in shock.

She gave him a stern look and in return, he gave her a cheeky look, as if he didn’t know what he did.

“Mr Damien, I should be paying. I mean, I would feel bad for all you have done for me.”

“Please, call me Damien,” he replied, disregarding her worry.

“Mr Da– I mean, Damien,
just hand me the cheque, please.”

“No,I can do,” he said, already putting his card into the leather booklet and handing it to a passing waiter.

“Wait–” she almost got off her chair and ran to the waiter, but felt a hand on hers to stop her.

She glanced at Damien in surprise and saw him smile at her.

“Just let it be. I enjoyed it,” he said calmly.

She took a few seconds to calm herself before sitting back down and shaking her head.

“Really, this is too much.”

“Was I being bothersome? How about I repay you by treating you out for lunch next time?” he suggested, his hand still on hers.

She felt his thumb circle around her palm and her instant reaction was to pull away, but, regarding what he just did, she tried to remain calm.

Dwelling on what he just said, she furrowed her eyebrows and painted a thin line on her lips.

‘Was he asking me out for a date? Or am I just overthinking things?’

“With just the two of us?” she questioned unsure.

She heard him chuckle,

“Of course. Isn’t that what dates are supposed to be like?”

She widened her eyes a fraction of a second, but instantly tried to remain calm.

There it was, the word ‘date’.

She made a small gulp and inwardly started to panic because she finally realized what this was all about.

He was only doing all of this because he was interested in her.

She knew it was going to be over the second she had to tell him that he wouldn’t be able to find a relationship with her, if that is what he wanted from her.

“W-Well, actually, I don’t think I can,” she stammered, inwardly dreading what she was going to tell him.
