Chapter 3

Of course I know about the owners daughter,” he smiled.

“We sponsor your company. Which, I almost forgot, my name is Mason Damien.”

Chuckling, she calmed herself for thinking too far ahead.

“You are very diligent if you know every single family member of your sponsorships, Mr Damien.”

“Of course,” he replied confidently,

“It’s good business skills. Always impresses your allies when you know more about them.”

She nodded her head to agree despite actually knowing nothing about any of these skills he talked about.

She wasn’t into business very much.

She was more of an art person.

“But that also means I track the profits of your company,” he started off,

“And would like to ask if there has been any troubles with your sales lately?”

She widened her eyes and creased her forehead in worry.

Her dad never mentioned anything about them struggling?

Had she heard from him wrong?

“I’m sorry, I really don’t know. I actually don’t have anything to do with my dad’s company.”.

He smiled and shook his head, as if he was confirming something.

“No need to worry, I was just curious. Does that mean you don’t work with your father?”

She inwardly sighed in relief that the topic changed.

If he dwelled on the topic of business any further, she would probably make a fool of herself.

She might even say something that would ruin her dad’s business if she wasn’t careful.

“I’m not really a business person. This is my first business gathering,” she chuckled awkwardly.

“I guess that explains why I have never seen you at our monthly gatherings,” he chuckled with her.

“Yeah, I was studying at university and just graduated a little while ago so I never got the chance to go with him earlier,” she explained.

“Really?”

She watched him grab two glasses from a waiter walking by with a tray full of red drinks and leaned closer, extending one of the glasses to her.

She kept the surprise inside of her as politely thanked him and took the glass from him.

“And what exactly did you study?”

She glanced down at the maroon coloured beverage that only filled the glass up to a sixth of the glass and swirled the drink in her hand.

“Creative Arts in Textiles and Clothing Design.”

She saw him take a sip while still locking eyes with her.

“Is that so? Are you interested in fashion?”

She calmly rubbed the sides of the glass.

“You could say that. I was just interested in clothing and needed to pick a subject for university.”

She heard him hum and glanced up at him.

“They do expect young people to make decisions quite early on. It’s a shame when the degree that some people study aren’t what they were looking for after they graduate. Just goes to show how much they rush young people to get a degree these days,” he commented.

Surprised at his remark, she gained a sense of respect for his understanding.

“I agree wholeheartedly. Some expect us to be geniuses with ten years worth of experience and the same enthusiasm to do the job for the next fifty years of our lives.”
