Camera lights kept flashing almost blinding the young man’s eyes.

He held his head high as he stood in the midst of a crowd feeling like the star of a show. Feeling like he was standing at the spotlight.

Everything felt like a dream.

A dream he never wants to awake from.

He looked down at the boy and his little sister who held onto his hands tightly, obviously terrified.

God knows what they had both been through.

He lifted his gaze back to the crowd.

He would definitely be trending on all social media platforms.

Being tagged a savior.

A hero.

He had just rescued those children from kidnappers.

Sola looked into the sky, thankful to God that he was delayed and had to walk to the third junction in order to get a commercial bus.

He had had a hectic day at work but was grateful for the tip he got from his boss.

For a job well done” the elderly man had told him.

He couldn’t get a commercial bus at the stop he usually boards so he decides to trek to the next.

The evening felt peaceful as he walked down the quiet road. Sola stood by the road side, yet again, waiting to board. His eyes traveled across the street to meet the gaze of a little boy.

Sola broke the contact and focused on getting a bus home. He stood for a few moments and returned his gaze to the child, only to find the boy’s gaze still on him.

He didn’t break the contact this time instead casted a skeptic eyes on the boy. Sola raised his eyes to look at the boy’s mother as she held on tightly to her son’s hand. She seemed as though she was waiting, like him, for a commercial bus or waiting for someone. Her facial expression and body posture made him realized she was getting impatient.

Who wouldn’t be.

He took his gaze back to the boy and as before he was still looking at him.

He burrowed his eyebrows observing carefully still not breaking contact. Feeling like he could hear the boy’s thought he took his eyes to the woman again.

Something wasn’t right, he, for some reason, could feel it.

It was almost like the child was reaching out to him. He gathered courage and crossed to the other side of the road.

Sola had no understanding of what he was doing but he believed instincts never failed. It was almost immediately an idea popped in.

He was few feet away from the woman and her son when he exclaimed, calling the boy a nickname he used to be called in school.

The woman tilted her head in surprise watching as the stranger walked up to them with so much familiarity in his eyes towards the boy.

She began panicking.

The boy ran to Sola for a hug holding him tightly like his life would be taken if ever he let go.

The woman gave off a nervous laughter and asked how Sola knew her boy.

Sola opened his mouth and began talking…lying. He used to be the boy’s private home tutor until he got a job that required him relocating.

According to him, he planned on paying a surprise visit as he just got back the previous day.

The look on her face made Sola proceed to ask who she was.

The question took her by surprise leaving her speechless, he looked at the boy for answers and was told….

“I don’t know who she is

Seeing her cover was blown, she decided to run away but was too slow for Sola as he easily caught up with her yelling and drawing attention of passers-by.

It turned out that the boy and his little sister were kidnapped, coincidentally, the previous day. They were traveling to another town to sell the children when their car stopped.

Anne’s husband forgot to fill the tank again, so he used his GPS to locate the nearest filling station.

A friend had introduced that as a way to earn a lot of money and had even connected them to a buyer.

That was their first job.

A camera light flashes in his face bringing him back to reality.

A reality he was obviously enjoying.

Still being tagged a savior.

A hero.

For the first time in years, he felt welcomed.
