Chapter 1

Emeka hails from the eastern part of Nigeria and he graduated from Nigeria prestigious University (UI) as a first class student in political science.

Twas very disputable when he declared his intention to study political science with his parents.

His parents mainly his mother firmly detest anything related to politics.

She would buoyantly spoke against it blatantly.

It took Emeka some application of scopes and lies to gain her parents support.

Initially, he was succumbed with the intention to get rid of those that have made themselves permanent leaders at the corridor of leadership.

They lead the masses with despotic features and only self-centered.

People clamoured, but they turned deaf ear to them.

After his graduation, he was fortunate to be posted to one of the biggest cities in Nigeria to dispense his service for the government.

He was posted to Portharcourt .

Twas the prayer of everyone to be posted to a city except any part from the north because northern Nigeria is suffering from banditry, terrorism and civil unrest incurred by the Boko Haram group.

Life would have been as expected for Emeka if he had got a permanent job after his service.

Just as a famous saying in Nigeria .”Graduates hardly get job”

Many application letters were sent to different places he might likely got job, but he wasn’t called by any of them.

He was very impatient as he was running out of cash.

Parents and siblings are always calling, seeking assistance from their brother that has graduated to stretch a helping hand to them, but he kept promising them.

He knew he has to do something, before something would do him.

Five months after his service, he got a casual work at a company where he was paid 18k monthly. He wasn’t really satisfied with the payment, but he knew it wouldn’t be long till he would get the job of his choice.

On a certain Saturday, he woke really late and dragged his legs reluctantly to the rest room.

He was damn pressed, so he answered the call of nature and took his bath afterward.

He wasn’t going to work that day so he wiggled himself into light attire and held on to his mobile device.

He pressed the power button and the phone was activated from it’s sleeping.

He punched some codes and it paved way.

He pressed the contact icon and put the phone closed to his right ear.

The receiver spoke from the other end while he replied him.

The conversation last for two minutes before he ended it.

He was invited into a seminar that day so he made it out.

He bought #50 phocus and ate along.

He waited a bike after trekking for five minutes.

They negotiated and he hopped on it .

He alighted at his destination and squeezed a naira note into the cyclist’s hand before he made it into the hall.

The seminar commenced 8 minutes after his arrival.

Twas quite congested.

Most of them are graduates like him it was very obvious, but the puzzlement was if they are all jobless too.

The seminar themed ” The antidote of poverty”

.

” You have no reason to become poor, but if it seems you’re not making it, you have to clear your schedule and reschedule.

Just start somewhere.

Dangote of today started somewhere, Adenuga , started somewhere and some of others.

The major factor determining your financial status is people around you.

If you’re with five rich men, you’re obviously the number six rich man, but if you’re with five poor men, you’re really the sixth poor man.

How? Because if you throd or you associate yourself with rich people, they won’t feel good seeing you poor, they will perhaps make a way for you, but if you’re mingling with poor people, you’ll keep giving poor excuses such as: I’m broke now, maybe later, God sees me, I’ll try to get it……”

The seminar was still ongoing, people were busy jotting, but Emeka was Farfetch in thought.

The words he heard earlier was building impact in him, thus he was very much troubled.

The seminar ended with questioning and answering before everyone retired to his or her house.

Emeka couldn’t sleep as he pandered on the words over and over .

The speaker made mention of something when he was about to round off his speech.

He said ” If you can’t get five or ten people to call out of all your contact list in time of need, that’s an evidence that you’re mingling with poor people”

He knew he was really affected by it because he can’t even need 1k and confidently dial any number from his phone and expect positive result.

” I have to do something!”

He determined.

That very day, he deleted many numbers in his contact lists any really prepared to welcome new era in his life.
