Kate looked herself in the mirror admiring the beautiful woman she has grown into. The twenty-five years old woman had just worn her dress for the reception party of a friend’s wedding.

The sound of the opening door brought her back to reality and that made her realized she was already running late.

Cora opened the door with annoyance written all over her face.

Even the bride isn’t spending this much time

Sorry” Kate apologized and hurriedly wore her shoes.

After few drinks and chatting with some of her other friends present, she began feeling uncomfortable. She waved it aside, forcing herself to keep enjoying the party.

The, not so comfortable, feeling became intense and all she thought of was home.

   Her privacy.

   Her bed.

She decided to retire home and have a good night rest. She kissed Bennie goodnight and wishes her a happy married life. Cora ordered her a ride home, ignoring her whines of how fit she is to drive.

“You look too tired” Cora said “and I’m not going to risk it, especially not on Bennie’s big day”

I’ll help bring your car over in the morning she added before shutting the door of the car.

Kate opened her eyes to find herself tucked in her bed. Her head ached badly and her body felt numb. She was too tired to wonder how she got to her bed. She just made a mental note to give Cora a very tight hug when she comes over with her car.

Kate turned to face the other side of the bed, only to behold what made her skin turn white.

At the other end of her bed was a very short green snake🐍. It was a little chubby and have bloody red eyes. It would advance towards her but retreated whenever she met its gaze. She laid on her bed, too weak and too tired to panic which surprising, even to herself, because she could not stand that type of reptile.

She kept staring at the snake to prevent it from coming close to her. When she had enough strength, she went out to her balcony to feel the cool breeze against her skin. After a few minutes outside, she came in with the sole aim of killing the snake.

The creature was still in her bed when she came in and almost like it could read her thoughts to know what her intentions were, it attacked.

Kate has never felt so fearless all her life. Never felt so bold. She grabbed it immediately. It was almost like she was expecting the attack. Holding the snake’s head tightly with both hands, she apply pressure with an intention of bursting its brain.

The snake’s tail waggled vigorously making her grip loosen. It took advantage of this and forcefully opened its mouth piercing Kate’s left thumb in the process.

She knew better than to act irrationally, so she withdrew her left hand. She caught the tail and placed it in her armpits, then proceeded to hold the head with both hands.

She walked out slowly and placed her hands over the balcony, then squeezed hard until the snake’s head splatter.

It was like bursting a water balloon because the only liquid she saw was water. There was no blood.

No brain.

Just water.

She throw what was left of the body down and was about going inside when she saw the splashes merging. Kate tilted her head in surprise waiting to understand what was happening. She leaned on the balcony staring hard as curiosity began getting the best of her.

Then out of the blues, a pair of red eyed snake sprung toward her.

Kate jumped from the bed as bead of sweat flowed down her face.

 A freaking nightmare.

She thought.

She was glad it was not real though, thinking of it alone sent shivers down her spine. She slumped back on her bed letting out a sigh of relief. Suddenly, she heard the familiar tone from the reminder of her phone. She opened it to find out it was exactly 12am. Her reminder pop up on her screen.

BENNIE’S BIG DAY!!!

Oh dear God”. She murmured and looked around.

She’s definitely getting herself a new apartment because this was going to be her last night in that house .

P.s: Incase you see the word “stirring”, I meant “staring”.
