 Chapter 14

Nora opened her eyes and sat up on bed. Well she was sharing her room with no one and that was very cool with her since she doesn’t like mingling with the others.

Her head and eyes hurt like crazy maybe it’s as a result of excess crying. She managed to climb down the bed then walked to the bathroom and took a long shower…

She walked out of the bathroom with a towel tied round her body. Her eyes caught the necklace Gideon gave her yesterday.

She picked it then wore it and looked at it. It suddenly reminded her of Eric and what he said to her.

She shrugged the thoughts away from her mind and wore her uniform before walking out of her room, heading to canteen inorder to grab a bite before the classes begin.

“Hey Nora” Sophia smiled as she got out of her room, Lisa and Kadence followed behind.

“Hey girls. I came to pick you up, let’s go have breakfast” Nora said and faked a smile.

“Okay, let’s go” Sophia said and led the way.

They entered the canteen and met Pamela and Quinn at a table, eating…

“I’ll go eat with them. They’re still my friends” Kadence said and walked away.

She ordered a mug of hot chocolate with some muffins before going to sit with them.

Sophia ordered a plate of strawberry cake and looked for a seat. Her eyes caught Connor who was sitting with Ava. They were laughing heartily while eating their breakfast.

She took a deep breath before going to sit beside Lisa and Nora who were already eating.

“If he chooses Ava, then I have to forget about him” She thought sadly and faced her food.

Eric walked in with Romeo and Gideon while discussing. Eric’s gaze locked with that of Nora, she quickly looked away. Lisa noticed that but stayed quiet.

“Love triangles everywhere” Lisa thought and bit on her chicken wings…

“Hey girls” Romeo said and sat down near Lisa. He wrapped his hand round her shoulder and kissed her cheek.

“Hi babe” He winked.

Lisa slapped his hands so hard that it turned red.

“Don’t you dare do that again” She said as she tried not to blush but it was inevitable.

“Ouch…but you like it. Look you just blushed” Romeo wiggled his brows while smiling..

Eric sat down near Romeo and waved at Nora. She waved back too with a forced smile.

Connor sat down next to Nora. He smiled slightly at her, she smiled back too..

Sophia kept looking at Connor’s direction and how they chat happily.

“Here, you have to taste this guacamole” Ava brought a chip to his lips. It was so close that he was forced to open up.

He stylishly looked at Sophia who had her gaze fixed on them. She quickly looked away and stood up.

“Guys, I’m full… I’ll see you guys in class” Sophia said and scurried out of the canteen.

Eric occasionally took a glance at Kadence who was eating and laughing heartily with her friends. She tugged her hair behind her ear and looked at Eric’s direction then waved. He waved back too…

Liam who was busy sitting at one corner was smiling, amused by all these….

“Well, I guess they’re doing a staring competition” He smiled…

“Hey Eric” Zara walked and sat down near Eric. Eric looked at her and frowned, wondering where she’s coming from.

“Hi Zara” Eric said.

“Oh, you know my name? I’m flattered” Zara smiled and blinked while looking at Eric.

“Here comes another one” Liam rested his head on the table watching them eagerly.

Two hours later**

“I’m really not good in maths” Kadence pouted as she walked out of the classroom with Eric.

“Yeah, it’s kinda complicated but I can manage” Eric replied…

“But did you see how Emma and Liam answered all the questions which were thrown at them…gosh! I envy them” Kadence groaned..

“Yeah, they’re not bad. But I bet you’re good in physics” Eric said and Kadence laughed.

“Are you mocking me, come on! I have a big coconut head. Only water is in it” Kadence said and hugged his arm as they walked to their lockers.

Sophia washed her hand in the sink and then opened the door heading back to class when suddenly someone pulled her to a corner.

“Connor?” She exclaimed when she saw his face.

“I’m sorry but I can’t help to notice it, you’ve been avoiding me since morning. Is it because of Ava?” Connor asked.

“No!! I’m not….avoiding you” Sophia rushed.

“You know you can’t lie especially to me. Do you want me to stay away from her?” Connor asked softly placing both hands on the wall, trapping her…

“Uh…no, no…I don’t have control over your life,,,, I mean it’s your decision right?” Sophia stuttered.

“Tell me Sophia. Do you perhaps have feelings for me?” Connor whispered.

“No” She said, avoiding his gaze.

“Look at me in the eyes and tell me you don’t love me” He said.

Sophia slowly raised her head and stared into his eyes, she got lost into them.

Connor leaned down closer to her. She simply stared at him with her lips slightly parted.

Connor leaned in more and brushed his lips on her upper lips. That sent electric waves all over Sophia’s body.

“What is he doing?!” Her mind screamed.

She got back to her senses and pushed him away before running away.

Connor smiled as he watched her run away.

“Guess Liam was right” Connor muttered to himself…

Connor walked in and walked to his seat. Sophia had her face buried in a book in order to avoid looking at him.

She slowly looked up at peeked at him only to see he had his gaze on her. He winked at her, that startled her making her look front.

Ava glared at the two of them. She made to attack Sophia but stopped when she saw the principal enter their class.

“What is he doing here?” She wondered…

“Good morning students, I’m sure you’re all wondering why I’m standing here in front of you. I just have a short announcement to make. Next week Wednesday, Diamond High organized an exclusive excursion only for this class. Each year classes get selected at random and this year is your lucky year. You’ll all be going to a reserved forest” He said.

Some students clapped while some whined.

“Don’t want to get my skin bitten by mosquitoes” Nancy rolled her eyes.

“I hope I’ll see a deer. You know, it’s an endangered specie. Want to take it in photo” Kadence smiled.

“Hope I’ll be paired with Connor” Ava thought and looked at Connor who was busily writing..

“Hey Eric.. Why haven’t I seen the princess that you guys use to talk about” Kadence whispered.

“Well the demon attacked her and she was wounded so she had to heal. She’ll ne among us tomorrow, I’m sure of that” Eric replied.

“Oh….okay” Kadence said and continued copying the notes.

The time passed like seconds till it was noon.

Kadence was seen in her room wearing her training dress.

“Wow, you look s*xy” Sophia winked, wearing her gloves.

“Thanks” Kadence smiled tying up her hair in a ponytail.

“Come on let’s go. You don’t wanna be late on your first day” Lisa said and walked out, they followed behind her.

The walked to the portal and then opened it through the use of their gloves. That’s why its essential to wear them..

The three girls all walked in and headed to their separate ways. Lisa smiled as she saw Kaitlyn.

“My rival is back in business” She smirked.

Kaitlyn who was busy doing some workout looked at her then smiled defiantly too.

Sophia began doing her workout too, stretching her whole body making it flexible.

“Mind if we train?” A voice said.

She looked up to see it was Connor.

“Sure” Sophia smiled and stood up then stood at position, ready to fight

She made the first move and attack him by sending a punch. He quickly dodged it with a smile on his face.

Sophia kept attacking and he kept dodging. He suddenly caught her wrist then pulled her closer and made her back face him as he held her in place.

“So you won’t answer my question?” Connor whispered to her. That made her gulp down nothing…

With the lion strength in her, she pushed him away and hit his face hard with her leg.

“You know already the answer, why tease me, stop playing with my feelings.” Sophia said and walked away.

Connor felt his jaw which was already turning red as he watched her go. He smiled as he watched her leave…

Kadence sat down in one corner as she watched the others fight. She was like amazed with their fighting skills.

“You’re not going to learn anything while sitting down there” Someone said.

She looked by her left to see Liam who was looking at the other. He looked down at her and then stared at her for a long while.

Kadence looked at him with furrowed brows. Why was he looking at her like that?

“Here, come show me what you gat” Liam said and stretched his hands

She took it and he helped her up. Somehow, Kadence felt like she’s seen him before.

“Here punch me, I won’t bulge” Liam said and stood properly.

Kadence nodded and folded her fists then punched his stomach. He didn’t bulge as he said.

She kept punching but nothing. It got to a point where her hands began hurting. He held her wrist making her stop.

“Your punches are like kisses to me. You’re bones are too weak and you lack force” Liam spoke still holding her wrist.

Kadence nodded while looking at him…

Eric who was busy doing pushups stopped and looked at their direction. He was feeling somehow, like he wasn’t feeling comfortable seeing them together…

“You love her right?” Nora said from behind him. He turned and faced her…

“I can see it from the way you look at her till your smile.. You’re into her, I just hope you won’t get heartbroken” Nora said and looked at Liam and Kadence.

“No need to worry about me. I’ll be fine” Nora said and faked a smile, she walked away.

Eric looked back at them…

“Try punching me on the face” Liam said.

Kadence raised her hand in order to punch. He caught it midair.

“Your attacks are highly predictable. You have to train more in order to become like her” Liam gestured at Kaitlyn who was fiercely fighting with Lisa.

“She’s just like you…powerless but look she gives Lisa a hard time.”

Kadence looked at Kaitlyn. She doesn’t know why but she admire her moves and her morale.

“I’ll be determined, just like her” Kadence said with great determination.

“If you’re willing to learn, I can train you. Just meet me here everyday at 7pm” Liam said calmly.

“Alright, thanks a lot” Kadence smiled.

“Sure” He smiled slightly and walked away.

His gaze locked with that of Eric and they looked at each other for a long while before he walked pass him.
