MADALITSO – Episode 4

Me: cat caught your tongue?

Lady: (sobbing) I…. I….. I… (she hang up)

Me: crazy

I got more frustrated and switched off my phone, I bought grandma’s airtime and returned home where I found Linda and Taonga having a great time in the lounge

Me: anut, can’t we please take her to the hospital?

Linda: awww!!! pretty thing come here

I went to her and she took me in her arms

Linda: it’s really touching to see how much you care about my mom but the doctors said they is nothing wrong with her so there’s nothing we can do

Me: but we can’t just sit and watch her condition worsen

Linda: what do you suggest we do? but know that I’m not wasting my husband’s hard earned money on something the doctors clearly stated that nothing can be done

I left her arms and kneeled in front of her

Me: please aunt forgive her if she has offended you in any way, put your differences aside and let’s help her

Linda: seems like you know much so what do you suggest we do?

Me: take her to a different hospital so they check on her because it can’t be possible that nothing’s wrong with her or we can take her to a pastor

Linda: YOU WILL NOT TAKE HER ANYWHERE NEAR FAKE PASTORS, THAT IS THE SAME sh*t THAT GOT YOUR PARENTS KILLED AND LEAVE MY SIGHT

Taonga was in stitches and as I was about to leave, she spoke

Taonga: I found him on facebook

I went out and she followed me behind, she was getting on my last nerve because I had no time for her drama

Taonga: Madalitso

Me: that’s my name

Taonga: do you like Peter?

I kept a straight face looking at her

Me: are you aware that grandma is unwell?

Taonga: ohh please spare me that, I’ll do anything to get him and no one will stop me especially not you. You think you can get in my way just because you knew him first? DON’T DARE ME

I wasn’t paying attention to what she was saying as my mind was thinking of grandma’s health but her last words clicked me off. I decided to walk out on her for the best and went to grandma’s room who was peacefully sleeping so I just sat there and starred at nothing in particular until Saint called and I told him everything that happened, he told me not to stress and think about the paper I’d write the following day so I went to my room to study

Days passed and we wrote our final paper, I was Peter and Hector telling them about grandma when Saint walked to us we continued talking about her and I got emotional. I cried in Peter’s arms and they comforted me, Taonga approached us and gave me an evil look then walked away

Saint: you mentioned an international number the last time we spoke

Me: yeah, I think she’s grandma’s friend because of how the number was saved but she didn’t talk to me she only cried instead

Peter: maybe you should call her and tell her about your granny’s condition

Hector: but you’re saying she cried when you called, maybe she knows already

Saint: yeah besides she’s her friend maybe she knows

Hector: but still go ahead and call her, there’s no harm in trying

Me: I can’t do this alone

Peter: then let’s meet at the park later when you call her

Me: sure

We went home and when I got there opening door and was welcomed by a hot slap from Taonga

Me: AHHH!!! ARE YOU STUPID?

Taonga: I won’t let you take Peter from me, its Crystal clear that he wants me

Me: in case you didn’t know Peter and I have been dating for five years now (her jaw dropped open)……

I smiled at her because because I knew that I hit some nerve

Me: breathe Tee, don’t faint on me

I pushed passed her and got in leaving her there with her mouth open, I went to grandma’s room firstly and she looked pale, l immediately developed a lump on my throat and she smiled at me weakly

Grandma: my child, I know you’ve made it and please make your dreams come true even though it will be a tough battle. I managed to be strong for you until you completed your exams and its been successful by God’s grace but the pain is now unbearable and my time is near. Madalitso you’ll be crushed into the tiniest pieces but never give up and know that I’ll always be with you and you’ll be victorious in the end, find it in your heart to forgive anyone who comes asking for forgiveness from you. You’re stronger than you think my child, I’ve got something important to tell you this evening, I need to answer your question

Tears were gushing down my face so I grabbed her phone and ran out of her bedroom crying, I copied the number in my phone and saved it then called Peter

Peter: Madalitso

Me: G…gr…grandma (I could in breath properly)

Peter: Madalitso keep calm, I’m coming

I did breathing exercises and went to take a cold shower and opted for blue jeans and a loose grey top then went to the kitchen to get myself something to eat but I couldn’t get anything down my throat while Taonga ate like there’s no tomorrow

Taonga: sis, your playing with your food did Peter dump you? I know he’d never settle for someone like you with a cheap lifestyle, a granny’s baby……

There was a knock on the door at Tapiwa went to get it then Peter walked in looking fly

Peter: my…..

I ran to him and threw myself in his arms just to annoy Taonga

Me: babe, I missed you

Peter: you just can’t imagine how much I did

Taonga smashed her plate of food against the wall and it broke into pieces then we all looked at her

Taonga: why are you starring at me Tapiwa? do your job and clean that mess and don’t you two notice that I’m here?

Me: and so?

Peter looked at her sternly and I could tell she felt embarrassed

Taonga: Peter, is it true that you and Madalitso have been dating for five years?

Peter: No

Taonga: The devil is a liar, I knew you’ve always been jealous of me and…..

Peter and I laughed at her and she looked at us confused

Peter: actually Taonga I wasn’t done, we’ve been dating for seven years just that she doesn’t count the two years because I think she never noticed, right my lady? (he asked looking at me)

Me: right my guy (I playfully punched his chest)

I took my phone and we went out making fun of the moment we just had

Peter: No, we’re not using the main gate, we’ll use the small one in the back yard

Me: and why is that?

Peter: I just want to

Me: then you’ll have to drag me there because I’m also not using the gate in the back yard

Peter: come on

Me: No

Peter: pretty please

Me: I say no

He scooped me up bridal style and led me there

Me: hey you haven’t closed the gate

Peter: it’s your fault, you’ll close it when you’re back (we got a taxi)

I then called Tapiwa and she answered on the fourth ring

Tapiwa: hello

Me: please help me close the gate in the backyard when you’re free

Tapiwa: sure

We arrived at the park and found Hector and Saint waiting for us

Saint: you two surely took your time

Me: I’ll take that as a greeting

Hector: how’re you feeling?

Me: better, you guys are heaven sent

Saint: studying pressure?

Me: ohhh!! I’m freeeee…..

We laughed
