El Antiguo Guerrero – chapter 41

Guerrero Antiguo

Chapter 41

Theme: “Journey to the Future”

Rey is seen walking on the snowy way that leads back to the packhouse while Coven and Connor stand beside him. Behind them stood Alpha Thane, Dan, Ariel, and Jack. Different thoughts keep running in his mind.

Looking closely, one can see that his face looks rough and unkempt. Ever since the awakening of Beelzebub, he has been alone in the angel, thinking about everything Seer Argon had told him. Seer Argon explained to him that everything was happening according to fate’s will, but Rey didn’t agree. He believes that everything can be re-written. Ever since Beelzebub was revived, the grim reaper and daylight walker have also arisen.

He couldn’t sleep throughout the whole week without fighting the grim reaper. The same goes for the next day. It is for fighting the daylight walker. Despite how hard his beta is telling him to stay behind, he won’t budge. Rey believes that, as their Alpha, he has the right to lead them in every battle and protect them. The daylight walkers started invading the packhouse with a few of their numbers.

At first, Rey thought that was the end of it. Unknown to him, the daylight walker will keep multiplying. If he slaughtered 100 today, they would multiply and attack again the next day. That is how it begins until it multiplies into thousands of them. Without being told, Rey knew he had to journey to the future, just like Seer Argon had said. He had to retrieve the rest of the gems so they could restore the shield and defeat Beelzebub once and for all.

“Are you okay?” Coven’s voice jolted him out of his thoughts. Slowly, he raised his head, and his gaze met with that of his beta. They were now staring at him, wondering what was wrong with him.

“I am perfectly okay,” Rey said with a sly smile. “I just feel like taking a nap.” He said and walked towards the direction of the angel room. Although he was trying to hide his grief from the rest of the pack, he was sure that they noticed it, just that they didn’t want to intimidate him. He was a few steps from entering the angel room when he felt a presence behind him.

“What did you want again?” He asked, turning back slowly to face the creature.

“Stop locking yourself inside,” Seer Argon said. We have to face the battle ahead, or else we will be at a loss if Beelzebub decides to attack us himself.

Rey bowed his head as if debating what Seer Argon had just said. He was sure that the man was telling the truth, but he couldn’t just bring himself to forget everything that had been happening recently.

After what seemed like forever, he finally responded.

“I am ready for the journey.” Seer Argon raised his head in disbelief. It was obvious that he didn’t expect Rey to accept it just like that. He could remember the first time he told him about the journey to the future, about two weeks ago. He had told Rey that he would travel to the future where he would discover his identity, visit Erebus, the god of darkness, and retrieve the gem from Chaos and Void. Rey rejected the mission instantly, saying that he couldn’t leave the pack in danger.

“When are we going?” Rey asked again, jolting the man out of his thoughts.

“Follow me.” Seer Argon simply said,” and walked away to the other side of the angel room.”

Rey and Seer Argon keep walking through different routes, taking different twisted paths and corridors. After what seemed like forever, they finally arrived at the old man’s abode. It was still the same, just that the wood door had been changed to a metal one.

Seer Argon moves closer to the door and knocks gently. After what seemed like forever, fast footsteps were heard coming towards the door from behind. Rey directs his gaze at the old man, wondering when the man started living with another being. Ever since he grew up, Seer Argon has never liked the idea of staying with anybody. However, his question was answered when the approaching footsteps opened the door, revealing Junk with jam covering her whole mouth.

Rey shakes his head and lets out a small chuckle.

“What about Franni?” Rey asked, taking a few steps towards Junk. “Won’t you let her out again, or do you want to see the other side of Alpha Thane?”

“That is the same reason I locked her here,” Seer Argon chirped in. “At least she should allow Franni to come out. She hasn’t seen the words since two weeks ago. She believed that Franni was the reason why Beelzebub was awake. She is blaming her, saying if she had let her out earlier, she would have smelled your scent and helped you fight Vergio, so he wouldn’t have had the chance to throw the amulet.” Rey looks at the junk as if waiting for her to decline the accusations, but she scoops a lot of jam inside her mouth and attempts to walk back inside.

“At least let my sister out for a while,” Rey begged. Finally, Junk turned back to him, eyeing him from head to toe as if he had just spoken gibberish.

“Did you want her to suffocate inside you?” Rey asked again when he noticed that junk wasn’t attempting to release Franni.

“She deserved it,” Junk stated frankly. “Besides, I am the one that is always inside, so let her enjoy the small heat.” With that, she turned her back and sashayed her lips inside.

Rey and Seer Argon nodded their heads, then followed after her. Junk glanced back again, and said:

“About that Alpha, he has never learned that I am his true mate, not this idiot inside.” She finalizes and whoosh inside, followed by Seer Argon and Rey.

The three beings were seated in Seer Argon’s main room. Tension filled the whole air, and Junk could be seen shedding tears. Looking closely at Rey, you could easily decipher that he is trying so hard to control himself. Except for Seer Argon, who doesn’t seem to be moved by the words.

“So, you mean we are not related?” Junk asked in Franni’s voice. And Rey nodded his head in approval. Tears slip down Junk’s eyes, and they seem to be gleaming in the reflection of the daylight. She howled out loud, while grief and anger could be heard in her voice.

She was in pain that her father, Alpha Henry, kept such a huge secret from her. She was furious that the one she had grown up to know as her brother wasn’t even related to her in any way. Her eyes turned pink, and veins could be seen protruding from her neck.

“She is activating the moonlight power.” Seer Argon yelled in panic. Before he and Rey could make a move, a plasma ball shot out of Junk’s body and blasted them away. The force carried the duo and slammed their backs against the wooden door, making the door break in the process.

With the speed of light, Junk whooshed out of the room. Seer Argon groaned in pain, held the door frame for support, and yanked his body up.

“What happened here?” Alpha Thane’s voice was heard from behind. He quickly rushed to Rey, who was attempting to stand up but found it hard. It was obvious that the attack caught them unawares, which had a huge impact on their bodies.

“It is your mate, the virus, or what are you calling her?” Rey said amidst the pain, rubbing his back with his hand.

“You mean junk?” Alpha Thane corrected him.

“Yes,” Seer Argon answered instead.

“What happened to her? Has she gone berserk again? ” Alpha Thane asked in a rush, and panic could be heard in his voice.

“Nothing much. We just told her that… ” Rey stops in mid-air and looks towards Seer Argon as if asking for permission.

“That what?” Alpha Thane asked impatiently.

“That I am not her brother.” When Rey finally dropped the bombshells, Alpha Thane was speechless and open-mouthed, unable to believe what he had just heard.

“Tell me that is a lie.” Alpha Thane asked in disbelief.

“It is the true man,” Rey said affirmatively. “And I must have told her before I went on the mission, so it wouldn’t catch her unaware.”

“What journey are you talking about?” Another voice asked from behind. Rey and the rest look in the direction, only to see Coven, Connor, Jack, Ariel, McCloud, and Dan.

“Every one of you should come inside.” Seer Argon orders. Without reluctance, everyone walks inside the main room, waiting impatiently for what the old man was about to say.

“As you all know, we have been facing different hardships ever since Beelzebub was revived.” Seer Argon begins. “Different evil entities like the grim reaper and the daylight walker have been attacking us recently. And the daylight walker never gives up, unless they accomplish what they were sent to do. The worst part of it is that you killed a hundred people today. Ten hundred will rise tomorrow. ” Seer Argon paused and allowed his words to sink deep inside their heads before he continued

“It is not that we cannot fight Beelzebub, but it is a suicide attempt, as you all know. To defeat him, someone has to travel to the future and retrieve the gem of darkness. Only then can we defeat him.”

“What is the gem of darkness?” McCloud asked.

“The Gem of Darkness consists of the life gem, heart gem, time gem, invisible gem, space gem, soul gem, and power gem. The reason why we call them the “gems of darkness” is that they were created on the island of Crete by time and fate. The gem is guided by Void and Chaos, the son of Erebus, the god of darkness himself. ” Seer Argon explained it.

“What you are trying to say is that one must go into the future to retrieve the gem.” Coven said, and Seer Argon nodded his head to indicate that he was right.

“Not just any man,” he said. “But Rey himself, because he is a god, only he must go to the future, where he will also discover his identity.”

“Let’s assume he managed to retrieve all the gems. How is he going to wield them all at once?” Connor implored.

“Perhaps, he had the Ichor running in his veins,” Dan answered, and all eyes drifted to him.

“What is an Ichor?” Rey asked, bewildered.

“I haven’t heard of such things before,” Alpha Thane said.

“Same here.” Coven and his brother chorus at the same time.

“The Ichor is an element that runs in the veins of god, which makes them immortal. However, it is poisonous to ordinary humans, as it kills them brutally.” Ariel said, and they turned to her wondering how she knew.

“Stop staring at her like that,” Jack said. “Don’t forget we are ancient.” He clarified and everybody nodded their head in understanding.

“Just like the elixir wine.” They heard a female voice say it from behind. All eyes whirled in the direction and Franni emerged from the door. She was now clad in a black outfit, with her hair tied in a ponytail.

“Why are you glaring at us?” She growled out loud, making everybody avert their eyes. “I am sorry, that is junk doing.” Franni quickly apologized.

“So, as I was saying, Seer Argon continues, and they all turn their attention to him. “We are not sure if Rey has the Ichor running in his veins or not, but I will forge a weapon for him with a glove. So, it would be easier for him to wield all the gems at once.”

“What about the three gems that are here with me?” Rey asked and brought out the space, invisible, and soul gems from his pocket.

“You will leave them here with me for proper protection, while you journey into the future for the rest.” Seer Argon said. “So, when are you going?” He inquired about Rey.

“Soon,” Rey said, frankly, and he could feel everybody’s glaring at him. “I mean now.” He insisted. “So, what do I need to take along?” He requested, his gaze now fixed on Seer Argon.

“Nothing,” the latter replied. “You know everything you might need? Your skills cannot be reckoned with. You have also unlocked some of your god’s power, while the rest will be achieved as soon as you discover your identity. ”

Slowly, all of them begin to stand on their feet and move closer to Rey.

“I wish I could follow you,” Alpha Thane said in a melancholy tone. “But one of my beta’s just informed me through the pack link that some roque just invaded our pack, and my attention was needed.”

Rey made a gesture with his head that he understood. He had been in the man’s position before, and he knew how a pack could become weak without their leader, especially when he had left for a long period. Seer Argon gestures for Rey to follow him, and he leads them to his backyard.

They were now standing in front of a big oak tree, which was decorated with runes. Everybody watches in amusement as Seer Argon casts different spells in an unknown language, followed by a whirlwind. Slowly, a portal begins to form in front of the tree. At first, it was so small that it couldn’t accommodate anything larger than the size of a dog. Gradually, it started growing bigger and larger, until it could accommodate about 4 people.

“Quickly, I couldn’t hold it too much.” Seer Argon said. Without hesitation, Rey walked towards the entrance. He took one last glance at his people before he walked inside. Seer Argon was about to close the portal when Dan jumped inside, followed by Coven and Connor.

With inhuman speed, Franni wanted to whoosh towards the portal, but it was too late as the portal zipped closed, which made her collide with the oak tree.
