Chapter one

THE LONER!

Long lived, a village called kasuma in the Eastern part of Nigeria. There lives a young boy, Ajanisu, he happens to be a boy without Father and Mother.

He feels the world is a place of rage, fury, violence without limits. No happiness, no success, no enjoyment. Ajanisu has never met a human being who can say “Can I be your friend?” The all situations just looks like a pit of hell predicted by the Bible and the Quran. His parents died when he was five!

Ajanisu’s Father, Kasu was a great warrior for Kasuma. He fought several Battles on behalf of the villagers and won. And because of all the great things Kasu had done for Kasuma. The villagers decided to make him their head not knowing to him  that they wanted him to be dead.

Kasu thought of this position the villagers offered him. He was confused, his wife, Jajati, was also confused! They didn’t know what to do. Either to accept the leadership of the village or to reject it.”Kasu moved closer to her. And he sat by her side telling her all what his intentions are towards the offer. Saying, “I don’t think the position offered by the villagers will profit us” Jajati stopped washing and said “See this accused human being, harbinger of Ill-luck that must not be sighted early in the morning”

Kasu was surprised by what Jajati said. Kasu said “Do you realize I am your husband?” “Oh! Sorry dear! Of course I do!” She hissed “Husband my foot! I didn’t mean to abuse you, unfortunate being.” Jajati replied scornfully. “See whether you like it or not you will take over the leadership of this village, hen-pecked husband!” Kasu is speechless “See if you are jobless, take broom…..” she pointed a dried scattered broom to Kasu. ” take the broom and sweep the ground and stop disturbing me, Idiot!” She retorted!

Kasu stood up and went inside to put on his cultural garment called Jeté and he left home for the high priest’s house.

Kasu, on his way to the high priest’s house, soliloquising, “What would I do Njoku? My heart is not taking this offer, but my wife wants it. I have no choice than to take this.” At the moment he made this statement. A crow crew and the rain began to drizzle. Thunder strikes and the lightening appears.

Despite all these signs, Kasu didn’t notice yet he kept on running to the high priest’s house.

At the high priest’s house, Kasu discussed with him the reason why he visited him. He told him that he and his households have accepted to take over the leadership of Kasuma.

As the high priest heard this, he was so happy! On that spot, he sent for the Town crier to disseminate an information to all villagers by telling them that Kasu has accepted to take over the leadership of the village, that the installation will be done tomorrow’s evening, that they should all be at the palace.

The installation went as they expected.

Some days after, as if Jajati had known that something would happen. She sent Ajanisu, her son, to the stream, to get water. By the time the boy would come back home. He met the dead bodies of his parents. That day was a awkward day ever in Ajanisu’s life. The whole villagers neglected Ajanisu, just the way the people in the Bible neglected Jesus Christ.
