❣️ ALEXA❣️

The principal and uncle Evan were shocked to see the content on the noticeboard but I was expressionless.

Uncle Evan and I followed the principal back to his office.

I occupied his former seat and uncle Evan sat down as well.
I guess today is going to be a long day.

The principal brought out his laptop and he connected it to a switch.
He pressed some keys and we began to watch some footages.

The hallway we just left was in view and everywhere was quite dark.

I watched closely until it got to a part when someone walked to the noticeboard and pasted something on it.

The principal zoomed that particular scene and I was disappointed to see that the person was not looking at the direction of the camera, or maybe the person deliberately looked away from the camera.

This unknown person was on a baggy trouser and a big hooded sweater which is covering the face.

The principal clicked on another key and we all watched as the person walked out of the hallway.

That walk look familiar but I don’t remember who used to walk in that manner.

” Is that girl a student?” Uncle Evan asked.

” I agree that she’s a girl but I’m not sure about her studentship” the principal said.

The two of them have established the fact that the person on the hooded sweater is a girl and she was the one who posted.

” Sir, can we check yesterday’s footage?” I asked.
This is the first word I’ve said since I got here.
The principal looked at me quizzically.

” Sure, no problem” he said.

” I thought kate mentioned that she is mute” he said to uncle Evan.

” Not really. She chose not to talk before but now she has changed her mind” Uncle Evan said.

The principal looked at me as if to tell me that I’m weird but I just shrugged.

The principal showed us the footage of the previous day and it was the same girl on hoodie who pasted the picture on the noticeboard again.

The only difference between the videos is that; in the first video the girl was putting on baggy trousers while in the second video she was putting on a purple leggings.
Something about the girl is familiar but I can’t say exactly what it is.

Uncle Evan requested for the picture of the girl on hoodie should be sent to his phone.

” I’d call for a staff meeting very soon. Someone is bound to recognise this girl among the staff” the principal said.

” Okay. Thanks for everything, Bob ” Uncle Evan said and they exchanged pleasantries before we left the office.

” It’s too late for me to go to the office, so I’m heading home” Uncle Evan said.

” Same here. It’s almost lunchtime already. I’m going home with you” I said.

” Alright, munchkin. ” he replied.

I followed him to the parking lot where we both stepped into the car and he drove us home.

I can’t wait to know who exactly the motherfvcker who is posting anonymously is.

I’d have to go with my dad’s licensed pistol, the one in the glove box.

I can’t afford to take any chances since Oliver mentioned that the guy lives in a slum.

By the way, I’ve not seen Alexa in school today.
I guess dad couldn’t bring her to school as he promised.

” Guess what, guys?” Landon asked.

” What?” Oliver, Jason and I said in unison.

” A staff meeting is going on currently and I think it has something to do with Alexa” Landon said.

Oh! So it’s because of the staff meeting that we didn’t have any teacher in our class.

” Why do you think it has something to do with Alexa?” I asked Landon.

” I was painting in the studio, and I suddenly lost interest in it so I left the studio. I saw the door of the principal’s office slightly ajar and I heard words like (new girl, noticeboard, girl, hood).
I saw all the members of the staff there but I couldn’t wait to hear more” Landon said.

I excused myself and I stepped out of the class.
I dialed Alexa’s number. She picked up immediately.

📞 Hi ”

📞 What’s up? Why are you not in school?”

📞 I just left school few minutes ago. Uncle Evan said he’s not going to work for today because we left school late so I followed him home”

📞 Okay. Was the principal able to help you?

📞 Yes. We watched a CCTV footage. It was a girl on hoodie who pasted the pictures on the noticeboard”

📞 What? Did you recognise her?

📞 Nope, she wasn’t facing the camera, but something about her is familiar”

📞 Okay. I’d talk to you when I get home”

📞 Alright”

This is getting more confusing to me.
I went back to the class and I called Oliver aside.

” Alexa said it was a girl who posted those pictures on the noticeboard” I broke the news to Oliver.

” What? How is that even possible?” he asked me.
How am I supposed to know the answer to this question.

” Could it be that two people are at work here?” I asked Oliver.

” I think so. Maybe the girl is the mastermind behind all these, and she probably hired that computer guru at Huntsville, Alabama” Oliver said.

He has a point, but all these are still theories. I hope we get to know who the girl is.

✨NARRATIVE✨

*In The Principal’s Office*

The mood in the staff room is tensed as all the members of staff (both teaching and non teaching) are wondering why the principal summoned them all this afternoon.

The principal cleared his throat and looked at everyone present.

” Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen. I’m sorry for calling you away from your duty posts” he began.

Everyone was looking at him eagerly for him to tell them the reason for this impromptu meeting.

” It came to my notice that some rumours are flying around about the new girl. I’m disappointed that none of you deemed it fit to notify me about this issue, but that is not the main reason why I called for this meeting.
I want everyone to help me identify a girl” the principal said and he played the CCTV footages of yesterday and today.

” Do any of you have an idea of who she is?” the principal asked.

There was great murmurs and Mrs Hallowell raised her hand to signify that she has something to say.
The principal gave her permission to speak.

” I saw Ruby in my class today wearing exactly this baggy trouser, but she wasn’t on hoodie anymore. I remember thus vividly because I thought it was odd for Ruby to wear something as old fashioned as that trouser” Mrs Hallowell, the geography teacher, said to everyone.

Tongues started wagging and a lot of people were of the opinion that it can’t be Ruby because she has a better sense of fashion.

Luckily for the principal, he had met Ruby quite a number of times as she is always breaking some rules or the other.

He didn’t want to believe it was her but he formed a mental image of Ruby and he matched it with that of the girl in the video.

He was quite certain that it was her after all, but what he didn’t get was why she did that.

Just then, the door of the office was thrown open and the janitor came in.
He was using the restroom when the principal called for the meeting.

The principal quickly briefed him about the situation and played the video for him.

” Oh! This is Ruby. I bumped into her this morning but she didn’t notice me because of the semi darkness in the hallway” the janitor said.

This cleared the remaining doubt in the principal’s heart that this is truly Ruby’s doing.
