Saturday.

??ALEXA??

Uncle Evan has gone to work and Aunt Kate is doing the laundry.

I’m through with my assignments and right now I’m listening to music.

I wish I can fall asleep but I’m not feeling sleepy.

” Alexa, open the door” I heard Aunt Kate’s voice outside my door.

I opened the door for her and she came in holding some folded clothes.

“I bought these dresses for you. I think it’d look good on you” Aunt Kate said.

She displayed the clothes for me and I stare at the clothes without any interest for it.

I have more than enough clothes already so Aunt Kate shouldn’t have bothered.

I examined the dresses and I love it but I’m not sure I’d be wearing it anytime soon since I’m still in my mourning mood.

” You can wear this to Landon’s party later today” Aunt Kate said, pointing at a black and white striped off shoulder gown.

I brought out my phone and typed.

? I hardly know Landon so it doesn’t make sense for me to attend his party”.

I show her the text rather than send it to her cos I’m not sure she’s with her phone right now.

” It doesn’t matter dear. Everyone from your school will be there and I don’t want you to feel lonely here” she said.

I didn’t argue as I’d have done months ago.
I used to be very disagreeable in the past but now I try as much as possible to agree to things people say, especially if they are family.

?Okay. What time is the party starting?” I typed and show her again.

“In a few hours’ time. Get dressed so Hunter can take you along” Aunt Kate said.

I nod and pack the clothes to my closet.
Now I have to attend a party in which I just met the celebrant yesterday.

I took my bath for the second time today and I wore the black and white off shoulder dress.

I selected a nice gold necklace and a pair of gold earrings from my mom’s jewellery collections.

I wore a mild vanilla scented perfume and a black block heels.
Aunt Kate borrowed me a gold purse to match my jewelleries.

?HUNTER?

I was surprised when mom said Alexa would be going to the party with me.

I feel kinda relieved knowing she won’t be alone at home since I already cancelled her cinema date with that guy from school.

I like the fact that she’ added a bit of another colour to her dressing today.
I almost thought she’d be following me around in her customary all black attire.

I opened the door for her to settle in while I entered through the other side.
Moment late, we were heading in the direction of Landon’s house.

??ALEXA??

Hunter stopped the car in front of a mini mansion.
It’s the biggest house I’ve seen so far since I started living here.
I wonder what Landon’s parents do for a living.

I stepped out of the car and followed Hunter who was greeting every Jack and Harry we met in the corridor.

I followed him to a big hall which was decorated to look like a clubhouse.
I once went to one with my old friends back in NYC, that’s how I know what a club house looks like.
“Have fun Alexa ” Hunter shouted to be heard over the loud music being played.

I nod though I don’t think I’d have fun in this kind of place.
Before long, Hunter mixed with the other party crazed teenagers from school and I was left alone.

I left the big hall and wander around the house.

I walked till I get to a hallway where a lot of portraits were hanged.
I went in to have a look.

In the first picture, I saw a man who looks exactly like Landon and a pretty black woman who was carrying a tiny baby in her arms.

What! That tiny baby cannot be Landon.
I refuse to believe that?.

I checked another portrait, Landon’s dad, Landon’s mom and Landon himself (probably 5 years old in this picture) were camping out.

In another picture, Landon was standing with the other members of the football team.
I recognised Hunter, Oliver and Jason in the picture. I don’t know the rest.

The other pictures were that of Landon either alone or with his parents.

They look like a happy family to me and that suddenly makes me sad so I left the hallway in a hurry.

I walked like a scalar quantity, moving in haphazard directions till I saw their water fall.

I sat down near the water fall and watched the way the water was falling.

??OLIVER??

Coming to this party was such a bad idea.
It was mom’s idea anyway.
She said she doesn’t want me to just stay at home while others were having fun

Not that I’m having fun right now. I wish I was at home instead.

“Care for a dance, Oliver” Hailey said smiling coyly at me.
She is a hot and feisty brunette I once had flings with.

I took her hand in mine and I led her to the dance floor.

We danced together for some minutes before she went to dance with another guy.

I danced with some other girls but my mind wasn’t in the dance.
There’s a particular girl I wish to dance with though, and that’s Alexa.

I wonder where she is.
I saw her with Hunter when they both arrived but since then I haven’t seen her again.

?RUBY?

Oliver has been acting like a spoil sport since morning so I let him be.

I can’t allow him to dull my vibes today.

I left him and I went to dance with some guys.

I later saw Oliver dancing with some girls but I wasn’t bothered cos the new girl isn’t there.

I’d have designed her pretty face for her if I’d seen her dancing with Oliver so I relaxed and continued with my thing.

??ALEXA??

I went back into the hall and I grabbed a glass of cocktail from the bar.

I saw Hunter dancing with a girl from my maths class and I felt tempted to dance also.

I give in to the temptation and minutes later, I found myself on the dance floor.
I danced to the beats and several guys came to dance with me.

??OLIVER??

I was dancing with a girl on the swim team when I saw Alexa dancing with a guy.

She’s a really good dancer and I was impressed by her dance steps.

I left the girl I was dancing with and I went to dance with Alexa who was now dancing with the celebrant, Landon.

??ALEXA??

I was dancing with Oliver when his crazy girlfriend came to shout at me.

Don’t ask me why I danced with Oliver cos I don’t have the answer either.

All I know is that I was dancing with Landon and suddenly I was passed into another guy’s arms.

It was later that I got to see that my new dance partner is Oliver.

Back to present.

The b***h has been shouting and creating an unwanted scene which is something I hate.
People are beginning to stare at us and it’s pissing me off.

I was about to walk away when I felt Oliver’s hands on my waist.

He pulled me close and kisssed me full on the mouth.
What?!

His lips were so soft and firm.
I took my hands which were hanging limply by my side and circled Oliver’s back with my arms.

I pulled him closer and we kept kissing.
I moaned into his mouth and that was when my brain returned from the little vacation it took.

I pulled away and I fled the hall but not without seeing the self-satisfied smirk plastered on Oliver’s face and the evil glare Ruby shot me.

I can’t believe Oliver stole my first kiss just like that.
