Chapter 3

Three days later……

Abuja, Nigeria
11.41pm

The group consisting of Lewis, Anthony, Detective Steve and two others sat in a room. The house in which they were convened in belonged to Barrister Alex.
As the plates had been cleared, dinner haven.been finished, Anthony cleared his throat…
“Many have been waiting for this time…,When they will be redeemed from the shackles of brutality and the greed of those at the echelons of power, albeit, their prayers have finally been answered.
“This team, which I inaugurate now, shall one, work eradication of corruption and wickedness, but primarily, undertake the task of unmasking those behind the death of my wife, and the kidnapping of my daughter. Also, you shall not hesitate to dispensate your business. Whether or not it contravenes with the principles of the law and the constitution.
“Without wasting much of your time, your leader will from henceforth be……Detective Steve Anukam. One time leader of the Operation Zero and member of the Presidential Election Campaign team. I will leave you now. All documents you need to take off has been provided. As you go on, you have my permission to do whatever pleases you in line with the mission.
“Remember, If you wish to quit, you do so now……”
The room fell silent with Anthony taking brief glances at that faces. At the elapse of six minutes, he got up
“Your job starts now….Good day.” That done, he picked up his car key and walked out on them .

“I warned you that Steve should not be lost. He was a pawn we needed to play with”
“For all I care, Mr president, Steve had gone beyond his bounds. Could you imagine assaulting the chairman of Vinco…”
“Do you mean Vinco Enterprise? ”
“Yes , your excellency”
“Fine. But mark it that you failed in that aspect. The board will not ne happy to hear this”
“Exactly. And i have prepared more surprises for them”
“Which is? If i may ask?”
You requested getting the full profile of Dr. Ivan during our last meeting? ”
“Yeah…”
“Dr Ivan was abducted few minutes ago by unknown gunmen….His apartment at Grove Estate was silently broken into and he was carted away”
“Awful. We have to find him.”
“That’s why there are roadblocks being mounted along all roads in the country. Luckily too, they left a trail signifying that the abduction was carried out using a taxi registered on our system and a bus….”
“Go straight to the point, Mr Commander”
“We were able to trace the taxi to a disclosed hotel off Wuse II. My men are surrounding the environment as we speak”
“What about the bus?”
“Urmmm…I don’t know for now.”
“Don’t make mistakes, I want a feedback in thirty minutes time…”

National Police Command
12.04am

The situation room had been completed, live feeds and data being transmitted by the field officers.
“Can someone tell me, Of what importance is Dr Ivan to us?” an officer, Corporal Paul asked his mates
“Dumb head,” they answered him “Dr. Ivan is the chief medical consultant of Federal Medical Centre, Abuja, also the president of the Nigerian Doctors Assembly.”
“Interesting, ” Paul said as they kept on chattering.
He walked over to Agent Kelly, who was in charge of the situation room.
“Need some help?” he asked her
“Yeah ” she said “Dial the Security Camera’s Regulatory Commision and ask for a live footage right from when he was kidnaped to where he is as at the moment”
“Alright” Paul said as he carried out the action. The call was answered after two rings
“Police Command. Can you hear me? Over”
“SCRC. Yes we can over ”
“Send to the peer network, video coverage of activity starting from the moment Ivan was kidnapped till his whereabouts….”
“We can’t access his house. Jamming device discovered within that area. Over”
“Alright. Keep the line open”

He walked back to Kelly.
“ You’ve got to order one of the field officers to disconnect the jamming device approximately 720m away from his house.”
“That’s too far. We might have to do without them for the mean time.”
“Nope. You could try hacking into the transmitting base of the jamming device”
“How?” she questioned.
Paul took control of the system, first tracking down the location of the device, then using the barcode of the device to trace its transmission location.
“You’ll have to call your guys of that hotel”
“What do you mean?” she asked him
“The perpetrators have moved to an a bus company off constitution zone”
Kelly immediately gave the information and grabbed her gun.
“You stay here while I go treat those f**ls…”

12:36am
“We ain’t got time. ” Lorna told the others “Lewis just said that they’re heading for the bus company ”
“Well, that bought us some time” Steve said “i believe they traced the system supplying transmission to the company.”
“So what we gonna do?” She asked again
“Sit….and watch” Lewis said as he came out of a compartment of the bus. He pulled with him the gagged and blind folded Dr. Ivan.
Once he was loosed, he shouted “Who the hell are you motherfuckers?”
“We are your nightmare” Lewis told him
“What ?”
Steve ignored him and brought out the doctors device which had been opened by Lewis.
“You’re gonna have to do something for us”
“And what the hell is that? ” the doctor asked Steve.
Lewis dropped a paper on his laps
“You’ll say that aloud because it’ll be sent to the police. And always remember that any mistake you make takes away a minute from your daughter’s life” he ended smiling wickedly
“Alright. Where do I start from?”
“Paul, can we get a bit of what happened in here?”
“From the much I know, They are in there. I suggest you obstruct all exits and get searching”
“Ok” she responded and began giving out instructions. After she was assured that everywhere was secure, she moved in , dividing the group into four.
The chairman was already waiting to receive her
“I’m here from the Police Command and i have a …….”
“Miss police. Those you search for are no where to be found here. They hijacked one of our A class bus and left with it minutes ago…”
“What?” she said as the connection with Paul crackled to life “What’s going on, Paul?” she asked him
“I don’t know but I suggest you guys end the search and return to base”
“Any problem”
“Sort of…The captors just sent a message. I think you’ve got to see this”
