Maxwell was with his family when his phone rung, he checked the caller ID and found out that it was “Michael” his younger brother calling him, he excused himself from Angela and the kids and entered into the room to pick up the call.

“Hello bro, how is it going over there” he asked as soon as he answered.

“Everything is going on fine, what of your family?” Michael asked.

“They are all fine, am with them right now and Angela can’t get enough of me” he smiled, he was madly in love with his wife.

“What is happening at the True vine hospital? doctor swavey called me few minutes ago and was asking suspicious questions” he asked breathing heavily.

“Nothing much, they have gotten your replacement, one Yoruba dude like that” he rolled his eyes.

“I think he is sniffing around the office and in one way or the other he wants to get a hold of Evelyn’s file” he muttered.

“How?, I mean what do you mean?” Maxwell asked sitting down fully on the bed, he was getting interested in the call.

“Doctor Swavey called me and was asking me if there is any other place I keep my patient’s files, every other person’s file is there apart from Evelyn’s, I know that doctor swavey can’t just ask such questions without the new doctor telling him anything” he concluded.

“But wait, where is Evelyn’s file, did you leave it behind?” Maxwell asked raising his eyebrow.

“Am not stupid bro, I took her file along with me, it is here with me in Abuja, no matter how hard they search, they won’t find it” he said out of breath.

“So, there is nothing to worry about then” Maxwell asked heaving a sigh of relief, they were safe after all.

“Am not comfortable with the new doctor and his questions, don’t feel too relax, watch him closely and make sure he doesn’t do anything to jeopardise our hard work” He muttered softly.

“Alright bro, I have heard what you said, when I travel back to port-Harcourt, I will tell Dad all you said” Maxwell replied standing up, he needed to head back to the sitting room before Angela gets uncomfortable with his absence.

Korede drove into pick smile super market, since he came back to Nigeria he had not gotten anything for himself, he wheeled the cart to the pay point when he saw her, she was looking through the beverage section, Korede turned back with the cart and followed behind. she was just the way Mr Humphrey had described her, beautiful, elegant and had a chocolate coloured skin. she was beautiful, he smiled, but the smile faded when he remembered her plight, her childless state, Mr Humphrey had told him to help her out, but how was he going to help someone that didn’t even know him?

“Keep the balance Becky” he heard her calm but deep voice.

He noticed that she had paid for the things she bought and was heading out within the time he zoned out, he rushed up with his payment and even left his balance too for the same Becky, getting to know her house was more important than any stupid Balance.

He trailed her car all the way from the supermarket down to her house without been noticed, he pulled up in front of a gigantic building and watched as she drove inside, her house was big and beautiful, just that same moment, he placed a call to Mr Humphrey.

“good afternoon sir” he greeted

“How are you doing korede?” he asked

“I am fine sir, I have finally seen her, am currently parked in front of her house” he smiled widely.

Maxwell went to see his father concerning what his brother Micheal had told him, they needed to be very careful.

“You mean the new doctor is sniffing around? I had a cold chill when I heard that he came back from the states, are you sure he is not working for Humphrey?” he asked his son as soon as he was done with his explanation.

“Oh no Dad, America is a huge place, that he came back from the states doesn’t mean that he knows who Mr Humphrey is or even met him before” Maxwell replied shaking his head.

“Then how do you explain the fact that he was sniffing around and was asking about all the files when Evelyn’s file is not there?” The old man rolled his eyes.

“It could be that he just wanted to be sure that all the files are complete before he starts work fully” He explained further.

All the same, we have to be careful, keep a close watch on him and get an insider at the hospital, we need to keep tabs on him, we can’t afford to make any mistake now that Evelyn’s father has finally agreed to send us the money” he caressed his staff.

“He has agreed to send the money?, I can finally get back to my life? Am so happy right now” He said letting out a smile.

“Yes, he has, that is the reason we need to keep tabs on that new doctor before he spoils our plan” the old man replied fully relaxing on the sofa.

It was a Monday morning, Korede was heading to the hospital, wizkid _ fever was blasting from his speaker, he nodded his head to the beats of the song, he liked the song a lot, just then, he looked out of the car window and saw her standing beside her car at the side of the road looking helpless and worried, he pulled over in front of her and came down to know what happened.

“Good morning madam, is your car giving you headache in any way?” He asked.

“Yes, it just stopped moving, I have no idea on what must have happened to it, I need to be at work before 9am but am not seeing that happening” She twisted her face as a form of tiredness.

“Have you contacted your mechanic?” he asked further.

“I called him already, he said he is out of town” she sighed.

“What if I give you a ride to your work place, maybe when your mechanic gets back he will check on it” he suggested.

“in as much as I don’t know you, I don’t have any option than to go with you, I have a board meeting in the next 10 minutes” she said heading towards his car.

“what is your name?” she asked as soon as he joined her in the car.

“Korede, korede Benson, and you are?” he asked even though he knew every damn thing about her.

“Evelyn Desmond, actually Mrs Evelyn Desmond” she answered as she looked out of the window.

“Oh yeah, I noticed the ring” he replied not taking his gaze off the road.

“You did not ask for directions to my place of work, how will you know where am going to?” she asked again.

“PHREVER food production company, that’s where you work” he blurted out but kept quiet on remembering that he was supposed to act like he knew nothing about her.

“How did you know that?” she asked in shock.

“Eeeem” he stuttered looking around but smiled as he saw the company identification card that she wore around her neck “Your ID told me” he replied with a sigh of relief.

“You are a doctor?” she asked as she saw a sticker placed on the dashboard with “Doctors cure, God heals” written bodly on it.

“Yes, am a gynecologist” he replied swerving his car to the right.

“which hospital?” she curiously asked.

“The True Vine hospital” he replied with a smile.

“Oh my gosh, that’s my family hospital, my former gynocologist got transferred, wait, are you his replacement?” she asked all at once.

“If you are talking about Dr Michael, yes, am his replacement” he replied. “We are here” he completed as he pulled up in front of PHREVER company.

“Can I get your business card, I would love to discuss something with you” she asked after battling within herself.

“Yea, sure, here it is” he said stretching his hand towards her.

“thanks for the ride” she thanked him and got down from the car.

Korede placed a call immediately to Mr Humphrey.

“Hello sir, I met her again, and this time around, I gave her a ride and she asked for my business card, she will visit the hospital soon” he spoke into the receiver.

“That’s good Korede, make sure you help her in any way you can” he said.

“yes sir, I will try my best” he replied hanging up.
