Chapter 26

Authoress Pamela’s P.O.V:

To Richard, kissing Annabelle didn’t feel awkward at all. It was just how he imagined it would be – her sweet scent, her small whimper… He enjoyed every second of it.

Richard knocked on Annabelle’s room and found it empty. He frowned, “Where is Annabelle?” he asked the maid. They had only served one breakfast, indicating she wasn’t home.

“Miss Annabelle left early this morning. She said she had a morning class.”

“Oh, is that so?” Richard immediately sensed the lie. He knew Annabelle’s class schedules. “Did she have her breakfast?”

“We packed them.”

“Alright. You can go now,” Richard said, dismissing the maid.

The previous night, Annabelle couldn’t sleep. Her eyes were tightly closed, but they kept bouncing open. ‘It’s just a kiss! Don’t act like you’ve never done it with him before. The same man got you pregnant,’ she cursed in frustration.

Abigail tilted her head. Annabelle had called her this morning, asking if she could have breakfast at 6 AM. It was very early, but Abigail dragged herself from bed to accompany her. Now, Annabelle was eating from her lunchbox, and Abigail was just sitting there, watching her as she behaved weirdly.

“What happened?” Abigail finally asked.

“Did I say something?” Annabelle replied.

“No? That’s why I asked what happened. Did my brother eat your smarties brain?”

“Do you want some? Have you ordered anything?” Annabelle asked, noticing there was no meal in front of her.

“I ordered some milk,” Abigail replied. “Now tell me, did you even sleep? There are brand new bags under your eyes.”

“A little,” she said. She had tossed and turned like a dozen pancakes last night.

“Are you considering ending things with my brother?” Annabelle questioned.

“Um, your brother kissed me. Or I kissed him, I don’t know, it just happened. He was here, he was like this, he…” She tried to explain as she imagined his hands on her body again.

Annabelle felt like she was going a bit crazy.

“Was it bad or good?” Abigail was fully aware of how her brother behaves. Just yesterday, Gabriel said her brother had certain feelings for Annabelle, but she did not believe it.

“I don’t know. I have no idea.”

“Is he a good kisser?” She questioned out of curiosity.

“I have never been kissed before. Who should I compare it with?”

“Never? Not once?”

Well, Abigail knew Annabelle’s history, but none? Really? She had thought that Annabelle was just being secretive about it.

“Are you mocking me now?”

Abigail didn’t know whether she should laugh or cry.

“No, not at all. You should at least have a date with someone else before settling with my brother. Do you know how many women he has been with? He’s a womanizer… Tch…” Abigail said as she patted Annabelle’s hand. “No matter how much I think about it. You are too good for my brother.”

“I’m not that good.”

“You are! I have always relied on you. You always help me, listen to me, pamper me since we were in junior high school. I didn’t even know you were in love with Gabriel. You never told me anything.”

That’s true; Annabelle didn’t tell her how she felt; she kept her feelings away from her.

“I don’t want to see you sad. It makes me sad. Leave my brother. I will talk to Gabriel. I will persuade him to go on a date with you. I don’t mind if he becomes the stepfather to my niece.”

Annabelle chuckled at her words. It’s not like Richard will fight to have her.

And this was how Annabelle spent her days – avoiding him as best as she could. She packed her breakfast for school and had her dinner in her room. When Richard said he would pick her up after college, she said she had some ‘ghost’ project with another student.

“You live alone?” Sandra poured an orange juice for Annabelle.

“Can you just go back to your own castle?” She lived in an apartment alone. Not as fancy as Abigail. She wasn’t very rich; her ego was.

“You never invited us to your place.” Annabelle didn’t know her family was not living in this city. She had thought she was living with them. Sandra never shared this piece of information with any of her friends. Her family was a bit of a mess.

“Do you even like me in the first place to accept my invitation?” Annabelle had been giving her sarcastic remarks the whole time, and she knew if it was not because of Abigail, Annabelle would not want to be her friend.

“Yeah, I guess.” Annabelle’s class was dismissed early today. Abigail went on a date with her boyfriend, so she couldn’t tag along. So Annabelle was left to choose between Sandra and Richard, on whom she would bear to hear nonsense from.

“He kissed you, so what? You have his baby. He already put more than a tongue inside you, so buck it up.”

“I’m not happy with it, okay?” Sandra had seduced both Richard and Gabriel, and they kept rejecting her. Annabelle saying that she didn’t want it was actually cruel to her.

“You don’t want it, and you kissed him back. Girls like you and Abigail are so lucky. My boyfriend is too busy to be with me. He flies back and forth for his works. Ah, I hate it.” She’s in a long-distance relationship. The guy is a model.

“See, this is nice, you and me bonding.” Sandra looked at Annabelle weirdly.

“No?” Annabelle asked.

“No!” She snorted, jokingly, “Come whenever you want. Not in the middle of the night because I probably have someone with me.” Having a boyfriend didn’t stop Sandra from going out and having fun.

“Oh, yeah. I don’t want to run on that.” Actually, Annabelle is not the type to judge people.

The doorbell suddenly rang. “Your pickup is here.”

“My pick up?” Annabelle frowned.

“I asked Abigail to call Richard when you went to the restroom.” She shrugged.

“I can’t believe you!” Annabelle scoffed.

“It’s eleven o’clock. I cancelled my date for you. So please let me go.” She snarled.

Richard raised his hand. He had not seen Annabelle for a week. Annabelle looked upset now.

“Hello, stranger,” he teased. He took the bag on her shoulder. He was having a drink with Gabriel earlier.

“What’s on your face?” He asked.

“Huh?” She wiped her cheeks.

“It looks like a shame!” He pinched her nose.

“A shame? A… shame?”

“Yes.” She kept repeating those words until she realized he was just teasing her.

Annabelle hit him, “Don’t play with me!”

He missed her scolds…

Richard drove back to her house. Her parents had just reached home too. The four of them chit-chatted a bit before Annabelle went to her own room. Richard entered her room as well after the two of them acted nicely in front of the parents.

Annabelle was done bathing, Richard was still in her room.

“It’s late. You should go back to your room..” It was past midnight.

“Your stomach, it’s rounder. A little.”

It’s six month already.

“Can I touch it..?”

“I guess..”

Annabelle wondered if she should stand or lay down.

“sit here. You need to rest.” Richard pat her side of the bed.

“Oh, ok”

This was more awkward than the kiss.

Richard palmed her tummy.

He had the most beautiful finger, they were long and slender.

Annabelle adored it.

He had truly a handsome appearance.

She wish the child will be more like him than herself.

She was the most boring person on earth,

“It kicked yesterday” she told him.

“Really? Why didn’t you call me?”

He wanted to feel the kicks too!

“It only happened once. She doesn’t kick me again after.”

The fetus was very calm.

“She is a shy girl like her mom.” Richard commented.

He had a small smile on his face.

Annabelle wondered if she was wrong about him the whole time?

He wasn’t that rude and cold person?

This guy .. was different.

He was warm and childlike,

“She should have beautiful eyes like you.” He traced her face with the back of his hand.

Richard leaned closer, his face was just an inch away

“Don’t.” Annabelle close his mouth with her palm.

Richard backed to his side.

“Don’t run away from me. The more you run, the more I want to catch you.” He ruffled her hair,

“Do you hear me?”

She nodded rapidly.

“Tomorrow I will drive you to university. Stop waking up so early” Richard pat her head.

He missed her.

He didn’t want to leave her room at all,

“Can I just sleep here tonight?”

She did not answer neither did she tell him to leave, so it was a yes.
