Yesterday’s Love – A poem
Yesterday’s Love – A poem
My love, remember when we met
Under the mango tree, souls intertwined
Walking hand in hand through the market
Your smile brighter than the blazing sun.
Those days in the village square, carefree and young
Dancing all night to highlife tunes
Promises made, futures planned
Hearts full, spirits high.
But things change, that’s the way of the world
You left for abroad, how could I know
That distance and time would do what they did
Leaving me tired and lonely here at home.
I know you don’t love me now
But at least you loved me then
My heart will hold those memories tight
As I watch the sunset, dreaming of what could have been.
