Sapphire stared at the papers in pure confusion. What should she really do?

She looked up at Derek and saw the loom in his eyes. It held hope like he was eagerly waiting for an answer.

“I…I think I still do love Louis” Sapphire blurted out…

Derek’s shoulder fell. Same as his heart, so there was no hope for him. Just when he thought, he has find someone to love then this happens. Why him?

“Alright” He replied and took the papers from her and signed them.

“Remaining your signature for you to be a free woman” Derek said.

Sapphire took the papers from him with her eyes never leaving his. She could see the wave of emotions passing through them.

Derek began walking upstairs but stopped on his tracks.

“But why?” He asked.

“Huh?” Sapphire exclaimed. He turned to her.

“Why Louis and not me?” Derek asked while walking towards again.

“Because he loves me” Sapphire replied.

Derek held her shoulders and shook it lightly.

“Don’t you see the signs? Are you that blind and dumb? Don’t you see that….” He paused.

It was followed by some seconds of silence.

“Don’t you see that I love you” He finished his statement and looked down while releasing her.

Sapphire froze. Did she hear it correctly?

He looked into her eyes again then tugged her hair behind her ear before walking upstairs.

Sapphire looked at the papers and sighed. She brought out her phone and dialed a number.

“Louis its me Sapphire. We need to meet tomorrow, I have the papers” Sapphire said and hung up in order to avoid further questions.

She simply went upstairs. Tonight she had no appetite for dinner…

She walked into her room and went straight to bed.

NEXT MORNING

Sapphire walked downstairs as she buttoned her dress properly. She walked into the dining room and met Derek eating his breakfast.

With silent strides, she walked to her seat and sat down then began eating too. No one spoke, only the sound of the cutleries could ne heard.

Derek placed hus knife and fork on the plate and stood up then picked his suitcase.

“Have a nice day” Sapphire said.

He ignored her and walked out of the room heading outside…

Sapphire continue her meal and once she was done, she stood up and walked out of the house too.

Emile was waiting for her by the car. He was confused as to why the couple were all frowning. Are they having their first couple fight?

“Good morning Emile” Sapphire greeted and entered the car. Today she was not in the mood for lengthy discussion.

Emile shrugged and entered the car too. He roared the engine to life.

“Drive me to the Mimi’s café” Sapphire said.

Emile nodded and zoomed off heading to the direction ordered. They arrived the area and Sapphire got down the car.

“I don’t want you to follow me. Stay out here please?” Sapphire said and walked in the cafeteria.

Her eyes darted around and she saw Louis sitting on a table nearby. She walked to it and sat down opposite her.

“Good morning Saph” Louis greeted with a smile.

“Thanks. Morning” She said rather emotionlessly.

She brought out the papers placed it in front on the table. Louis took it eagerly with a smile on his lips.

He furrowed his brows as he saw Derek’s signature but never saw Sapphire’s own. He looked up at her with a questioning gaze.

“I just said that to see what your reaction will be and from what I’ve observed you were happy. Happy for your brother’s misfortune” Sapphire said rather sternly. Louis couldn’t believe she was the one

She took the papers from him and folded it then torn it into pieces. Louis eyes almost popped out of it’s sockets.

Sapphire finished tearing the papers then looked up at him.

“That was what I was supposed to do for a longtime” She said.

“What does this mean?”Louis asked.

“It simply means I don’t agree to your proposal. I’m not divorcing Derek. I’m sorry if it at all it will hurt your feelings but I chose Derek, he needs me more than you do.”Sapphire said and stood up.

“Just forget about me please?” Sapphire said and made to leave but Louis held her hand.

“Please Sapphire, I love you so much. Don’t do this to me?” Louis said as a drop of tear fell from his eyes.

Sapphire jerked his hand off her.

“Please don’t create a scene here, please?” Sapoh said and marched out of the cafeteria.

Louis went after her. Sapphire entered the car, same as Emile. She looked out as she saw Louis calling for her.

“I’m sorry Louis but that’s for the best” She said and looked at Emile.

“Let’s go home” She said. Emile nodded and drove off.

“What happened?” Emile asked.

“I just did what I could have done for a very longtime” Sapphire replied.

Emile smiled discreetly…

Derek got out of his car and walked into the house. Today, he decided to take a day off.

He got to work and couldn’t concentrate plus Santiago came and began nagging him which made him go back home.

He went upstairs to his room and changed into something comfortable. The house is so calm. Sapphire isn’t there to make it lively. She’s probably with Louis…

Derek hissed in jealousy. Yes, he has to admit it the idea of Sapphire being with Louis makes him really mad.

He sighed and sat down on his bed. Even at home he can’t concentrate. Everything just keeps reminding him of her…

He heard the sound of the car driving into the mansion. Maybe it’s one of the maids coming back from the market.

He looked out of the window, reflecting on how miserable his life is.

A knock came up on his door.

“I’m not hungry, I want to be alone” He said.

The door opened silently and someone tiptoed in.

Derek bulged as he felt and arm wrap round his waist. He wanted to yell but froze as he recognized the perfume.

What’s she doing? His mind screamed.

Sapphire buried her face into hus back as she tightened the hug.

“Derek, I’m sorry about earlier. Actually I never meant what I said earlier. I said it coz I wanted to prove something to Louis. As long as I’m still the stubborn Sapphire you know, I’ll never sign those papers. Sorry I hurt your feelings, never knew you were in love with me. From today henceforth, I promise to be an obedient girl…I promise I’ll try to be the best wife in the whole universe… And I also promise that I’ll learn to love you. Please don’t be mad at me, please?” Sapphire said.

Derek was completely shocked, he just couldn’t believe this. He came back to reality as he felt his shirt dampen.

He turned back and faced her only to see she was in tears. He cupped her cheek and wipe her tears. He forgot he was even mad at her. How can he stay mad at her when she’s always cute in what she does, even in crying….

“Hey, shh! Don’t cry okay? I forgive you but don’t pull that stunt on me again okay? I might be tough and all but I do have I fragile heart when it concerns love” Derek said..

Sapphire nodded and sniffed in.

Derek smiled and kissed her forehead then pulled her in for a warm hug. She hugged him back too, snuggling with his chest.

“I promise I’ll also try to be the best husband in the universe and I promise that I’ll look for other ways to love you more.” Derek said and kissed her hair.

“I love you little wifey” He said.

They broke the hug and Sapphire looked up at him. He cupped her cheek as his gaze traveled to her lips. He leaned in closer as his lips parted.

Sapphire stared at his lips and then at his face. She held onto his shirt as their lips were just inches apart and there, Derek pressed his lips softly on hers.

Sapphire’s eyes immediately shut closed as she kissed him back too with so much tenderness that Derek felt his heart melt.

Nepson smiled and walked out of the room, closing the door silently. He rushed all the way here when Derek tokd him what happened only to arrive and see them kissing.

“Now, I want to have my own wifey” He mumble and pouted as he walked out of the house.

Derek broke the kiss and looked at Sapphire. She looked down in embarrassment… Derek chuckled and lifted her head up.

“Don’t tell me you’re now a shy Sapphire. Honestly I prefer stubborn Sapphire way more.” Derek said.

“I prefer sweet and romantic Derek more than heartless and cold Derek” Sapphire said with a cheeky smile.

He held her hand and kissed it’s back.

“That heartless Derek is dead so long as you stay with me Sapphire.” Derek said and pecked her lips then held her hand.

“Come on, let’s go and have lunch. I’m hungry” Derek said…

“I’m eating chicken salad” Sapphire said.

“You and chicken salad” Derek mumbled….

“Boss wants to meet you” A man said.

Giselle flinched… She swallowed hard and began waking to a room. She opened it and walked in the room..

She met the so called boss sitting on a chair with a glass of whiskey in his hand. He dropped it and looked at her.

“Any information about Sapphire?” He spoke

Giselle ached her brows. Since yesterday she couldn’t help but notice his voice was familiar to her.

“Uhm, no boss. I’ve went through her biography, asked around about her but no one seems to know where she’s from. One thing I know is that she’s adopted” Giselle said.

The man stood up from his couch. He walked up to Giselle with his mask still on then he grabbed her hair harshly…

Giselle winced in pains.

“You’re hurting me….” Giselle managed to say…

He leaned more closer and then slammed his lips on hers kissing her hungrily. Giselle stood still. She couldn’t apprehend why he was doing this…

He pressed ger butt which made her moan. She wrapped her hands round his neck and kissed him back.

His hand found her zipper and then pulled it down before pushing her on the bed behind her.

• FAST FORWARD •

Giselle smiled as she opened her eyes. This her boss is really good in bed! She sat up and looked at him.

He was in his shorts, shirtless revealing his perfect abs. He still has his mask on.

He looked at and looked back at his glass he had in his hand.

“Boss, why can’t I see your face?” Giselle asked seductively. She really wanted to see who is that god of s*x that lies behind that mask.

He looked at her again and a smirk carved on his lips .

“You seriously wanna do?” He asked and she nodded.

He turned his back to her and then removed his mask then kept it aside he picked up something that Giselle couldn’t see and then turned back to her.

Giselle gasped as his face came to view. So it’s him all along? The man behind the mass killing!! Never in her dreams will she imagine such.

“It’s you” She muttered.

A clacking sound of gun was heard. Giselle eyes widened as she saw what he held in his hand.

Before she could speak, two bullets landed straight to her chest. She fell on the bed as the sheets stained with her own blood.

He kept back the gun as an evil smirk curved on his lips.

“Those you know my identity have never lived a day to testify it. You’re such a fool Giselle and useless too” The man said and lifted his face up revealing……. Louis!

He lit up a cigarette and began smoking it.

“Sapphire, you’ll be mine whether you like it or not. I never really wished to hurt my brother but you leave me no choice. Time for my plan A… Find out who you really are?!” Louis said and put his cigarette in his lips.
