Not Another Love Story – Episode 22

NOT ANOTHER LOVE STORY

Episode  22

#ALLAN
It had been a long day. Ivy had suddenly stopped responding to the messages I sent, she might have gotten busy for all I know.
I asked Lucas to come over since I was home alone but he refused, stating he had to see his baby mama. This left me with only one option, visiting Mwape.

I didn’t like the idea, especially with all the wedding clips circulating on social media… Being with her would only make things hard for her. Dad wanted a grand event as if that wasn’t enough, he made sure an announcement was featured in the Times of Zambia newspaper and also on the weekly best-selling magazine for Stories Written.
I arrived at her place and it was pitch black.

ALLAN – Hey, am outside.
MWAPE – OK.

A minute later there was a knock on my window, I lowered it to check and it was Mwape.

“Hey, beautiful…” I said caressing her cheek.
“Isn’t it late for you to be here?” Mwape asked.
“I know, I couldn’t sleep, plus I wanted to see you.” I told her, “Get in…”
“Am not going anywhere with you. Mum hasn’t been in a good mood today… Telling her that am going out this time would land me a slap.” I told him.
“You don’t need to worry. We can just sit here.” I told her.

I couldn’t verify the authenticity of her words regarding her mother and the best I could do was try and convince her to hand around in the car with me.

“How are the preparations for the wedding going?” She asked me. She had already gotten into the car.
“Everything is okay. Mum keeps updating me on what’s going on.” I responded.
“That’s good.” She said.
“Ooh! Okay. You seem bothered, what’s on your mind?” I asked her. She wasn’t willing to tell me but after some persuading, she did.

“I’ve been thinking about your inheritance. You just keep saying it but I don’t know what it is…” She said.
“That’s what you want to know?” I laughed. I found out faster than I laughed that her question wasn’t a joke.
“Well, the inheritance isn’t just money. I don’t know the exact percentage but I do know that I get to control 50% of my father’s companies. At least that’s what I know.” I told her.
“You just said companies. Sorry to ask, how many companies are we talking about here?” Mwape asked.
“Well, My family _ together with Ivy’s have collaborated in opening a lot of companies in different sectors. I can’t say a figure, but they have managed to cover all ten provinces. Why are you asking me all this?” I asked her.
“That sounds like an empire.” She commented. I just laughed and tried my best to change the topic, but that didn’t help.
“You want to leave all that for me?” She asked me.
“Why wouldn’t I? I love you.” I told her, I held her hand but she pulled out.

We spent a few more minutes together, she kept asking the same questions and that got me irritated. One thing I loved about Mwape was the fact that she didn’t ask about my background and now that she was _ it was getting on my nerves.

When I got home, Ivy texted.

IVY – How was your day?
ALLAN – It was okay. Just had a lot of paperwork to do. How was yours?
IVY – It was great. We making progress on the preparations. Your father dropped by.
ALLAN – Dad came that side? What did he want?
IVY – Nothing really. We just spoke about business. Did you know that he wants us to run the Branch in Kafue?
ALLAN – Is that so? I thought your people were working on that…
IVY – Well, he said he wants to introduce us to the bigger market and the company in Kafue would be a great form of exercise.

#MWAPE

I couldn’t believe Allan was so worked up about me asking him about his family and their properties. I didn’t want Ivy’s story to be true, the Lord knows how much I wanted everything she said to be a lie. However, it was the whole damn truth. On WhatsApp, I could see that Limpo was online but she wasn’t responding to my messages. I decided to call her.

“I said am sorry!” I told her.
“Sorry doesn’t always cut it, hun. I wasn’t being jealous, I was just looking out for you.” Limpo said.
“I know. Ivy…”
“What about her?” She asked.
“She visited me. Told me about the disputes that are going on in Allan’s family regarding their distribution of wealth.” I told her.
“Mwape… What did Allan tell you about Ivy?” She asked curiously.
“Well, nothing much… I mean, he kept saying she was a diva, couldn’t cook a thing and the story about him being forced to marry her. That was the only things he usually complained about.” I told her.
“And what do you think of her?” Limpo asked me.
“Well, she does look lazy.” I laughed.
“Now, do you think those are good enough reasons for him to ditch his inheritance? I can’t comment on his feelings for you, But you really need to stop entertaining Allan.” Limpo told me.

We stopped talking about Allan and just began to chat about Life, she told me about a young man who had been pursuing her.
