Chapter 25

“You don’t need to worry about money anymore. I’ll be the one working.
You can just stay at home and do whatever you want. If you want to go out shopping, that’s fine with me but you can only go with me. If you need something just call me and I’ll get it for you.”

Daniella found his entire speech degrading.

“Look, I don’t think you realise this but I actually like buying my own things with my own money. I don’t want to burden anyone by making them the only person working,” she rebutted dissatisfied.

He smiled and shook his head,

“Daniella, don’t worry. I like providing for my family. It’s not a burden at all. It actually gives me great pleasure when I buy things for my wife.”

This was the first time he addressed her as his ‘wife’ and it already made her shudder.

“I appreciate the thought but I would rather work. What do you expect me to do all day at home?” she rebuttled.

“You can do whatever you like. You can do some online shopping or bake,” he replied nonchalantly.

She groaned quietly to herself and folded her arms.

“Look, I’m still going to work no matter what you say. If I can listen to all your rules then at least listen to what I want.”

She gave him a hard stare, telling him that she wasn’t about to change her opinion. He was already being weird with all the rules about sleeping in the same bed, asking him for permission to go out and not having guests over. The least he could do for her was let her work instead of laying around all day.

They stared at each other for another minute, neither one backing down. Finally, when the second minute passed, he finally gave in.

She watched as he leaned forward and rubbed his forehead,

“Fine,” he sighed.

“You can work, but–”

She heard the ‘but’ and almost groaned.

“–You can only work three days a week from nine to three. I’ll be picking your job and you’re not allowed overtime. And, if there are any social engagements after work, you have to ask me before going there. If you break any of these conditions, you’re quitting straight away, got it?”

Daniella thought about it.

She would only be working for three days? And again with the permission-asking.

She thought it was still a little strict but she doubt he would waver anything more. She sighed, at least she could work.

“Alright,” she agreed with a stern face.

He smiled at her,

“Good. Now that all that is over and done with, why don’t I show you around?”

She breathed out stubbornly but quietly followed him around nonetheless.

From there the room seemed to become bigger and bigger.

There seemed to be extra space for everything even though everything was already so extravagant and large.

They soon got to the bedroom where he opened the door to reveal a large king size bed with a leather headboard and glass bedside tables.

She hesitantly looked around before her eyes landed on the bed.

“I had a new bed installed just for us. Which side do you like sleeping on?” he asked, walking over to the bed.

“Any side is fine,” she murmured.

“I’ll let you take the right side so that you can be near the window,” he said walking over to the window.

She watched as he opened the curtains to reveal the stunning city view. It overlooked the entire city and it seemed like their building was the highest.

She gazed at it in awe. It was her first time seeing the view like this.

“Is it nice?” he asked.

She was surprised and glanced at him for a second before turning back to look at the view.

“Sure,” she replied monotonously.

She couldn’t see it, but he smiled and walked his way over to the bathroom before he called out to her.

“Daniella.”

She turned around and saw him gesture for her to come over.

She quietly followed and found herself in the bathroom where she was yet again, in awe at how nice it was.

This pattern continued as he showed her around the condominium, ending back at the living room where they both sat down after taking an hour to show her around.

“So, how is it?” he asked her.

“It’s quite…big,” she replied honestly.

He chuckled and nodded his head,

“It is, isn’t it?

Suddenly, her phone dinged.

She quickly took out her phone and saw that it was a message from her ex-boyfriend Dylan asking her if they could meet up.

“Who is it?” Damien asked.

She frowned and decided to block his number from her phone.

“Just my ex.”

“I see…” he replied lowly.

“Can’t believe he has the nerve,” she whispered to herself while proceeding to block all contact with him.

“Has he been bothering you lately?”

She kept her eyes on the screen but replied,

“Not really, but this isn’t the first time he’s done it.”

She didn’t realize that Damien had stood up and went somewhere before coming back again and dropping something in front of her.

She whipped her head up from her phone and saw a box in front of her.

It was a small velvet blue box that had gold lines embossed into it.

“What’s this?” she asked confused.

“Your wedding ring,” he replied, opening the box to reveal a beautiful silver diamond ring.

Her face gaped in shock, as if she couldn’t be even more surprised than she already was.

“This is for me?” she gasped.

“It matches mine,” he said holding out his silver band that had the same type of engravings on it.

She looked on carefully as he took her hand, making her slightly flinch, and smoothly slid the ring onto her ring finger.

Her hand instantly felt like it wasn’t her’s anymore. As if she was holding something foreign. Now it really did feel like they married now.

It was both scary and intriguing.

“Sorry that we couldn’t hold a ceremony,” he said.

She kept staring at the ring but forced herself to break away from it.

“It’s fine, I’m not a stickler for weddings anyways,” she said.

“But, thank you,” she replied genuinely.

He stared at her and smiled gently.

Tbc

Just like that, marriage have start. Lol
