Chapter 45

Hazel’s p.o.v

“The ones in the bathroom.”

Oh my god, why am I still talking?

“Okay.” He said in a dismissive tone.

“See you later.” And then I turned to leave even before the bye left my mouth.

“You came in a cab?” He asked and I halted before turning to face him.

“Yes. Why do you ask?”

“The white car is always available, I thought I told you that before and you have the key or don’t you?”

“I have it but you might not want me taking it without your permission. Also, I just felt like taking a taxi this morning.”

The real reason was actually because, I didn’t want anyone to notice me and bringing his car will make them to.

“You don’t need my permission.”

“I will put that in mind.”

“You should wear sneakers more often.”

“Uh?” I asked.

He couldn’t possibly be trying to tell me they look good on me? I thought to myself.

He wasn’t the type to make compliments.

“They look good on you.” He complimented to my greatest surprise.

“Oh… Thanks.”

“In case you get bored when you get home, there is a basketball court downstairs, that is if you like basketball.”

I gasped.

“Basketball is my best sport.”

“The chef will show you to the place.”

When I got home, there really was a basketball court in the house.

The place smelt nice and kind of new as the scent of paint lingered in the air.

A smile broke out on my face at the sight of the three racks filled with basketballs on one side.

I went to my room to change into something more comfortable before going back to the room where the basketball court was.

I had always enjoyed playing basketball and that day’s wasn’t an exception. Before tossing them into the hoop, I would perform some dribbling. I did this several times, some bounced back while some went through the hoop effortlessly.

I only stopped when I was completely exhausted and couldn’t continue anymore.

Getting some water to drink was the first thing I did before making my way back to my room to take a shower.

I woke up from my nap at the sound of the knock on my room door.

Rubbing my eyes, I got out of bed to open the door.

The person I came face to face with was not the person I was expecting to see, I thought it would be the chef.

Just how she got into the house was worth asking.

“Hey!” She waved with a tilt of her head, her red painted lips bearing a mischievous smirk.

“Sandra!”

“Yeah, that’s my name.”

“What are you doing here?” I asked with surprise.

“To congratulate you, on you guys’ wedding of course.”

“Who let you in?”

“Anthony. I told him I’m a friend of yours.”

“What friends? Anthony!” I called, trying to get past her but she blocked my way before I could.

I knew for sure that her being here couldn’t be for anything good.

“Don’t be scared. I’m not going to hurt you.” She started closing up on me, with a sneer on her face.

“What are you doing?”

“I warned you.”

I could feel her breathe on my face now but what she was going to do was still unknown to me until she stepped back a little away from me and her hands had made immediately for my throat in a flash.

Fighting back, I tried prying her hands off me and when I managed to and was going to call out for Anthony again, her right hand sealed my mouth before I could while her other hand held my body tightly to hers to prevent me from making any attempt to run off.

With labored breathing, I tried to wriggle out of her hold but she seemed too strong for me.

At my effort, her grip on my mouth tightened and I could feel her long sharp nails digging into my skin.

“Hey!” She hissed.

I had bitten her in an attempt to make her get her hand off my mouth.

Furious, she released me from her grip and immediately landed a deafening slap on my left cheek.

She was going to slap me again, when the chef showed up.

He rushed over to where we were and was able to catch wind of the situation with the palm print that must now be imprinted on my cheek.
