 Chapter 13

Kadence looked at them all as her shook in fear. Right now, she wished it was a dream.

“What are you doing here?” Eric stood up and made to help her up but.

“Don’t touch me!” She quickly shifted away.

“Move!” Emma said and came infront of her. She crouched to her level as she looked down at her.

“Kadence, no need to be afraid okay? We mean no harm.” Emma said and stretched her hands to touch her.

“Here, you see… If we were dangerous we could have killed you all a long time ago but no we didn’t. We are instead striving hard to protect y’all” Emma said softly.

“You see we were born like this, with supernatural powers. Each one of us have a unique personality, unique powers. Just like they’re people who are born blind, crippled, mute. We also have does who were born as werewolves and lots more” Emma said and held her hand. It seems like she’s calmed down.

“So you mean you are a werewolf?” Kadence stuttered.

“Hahaha…nope, I’m a fire bender. I control fire” Emma smiled and showed her by generating fire from her hand.

Kadence looked at all of them even Sophia was among, Eric, Liam, Lisa, Connor…almost all her friends are supernaturals.

“This school was created inorder to train people like us but in order to camouflage it’s main objective, we made it possible for humans to school here too.” Eric said behind her.

“Also not all supernaturals are-”

“What is a human doing here?!” Coach Travis thundered.

Kadence looked at him and gulped down. She knew she was in serious troubles.

“She didn’t mean to,she just…”

“Shut up Emma… You follow me to the principal’s office” Travis looked at Kadence.

Kadence swallowed hard and looked at Emma before following their coach.

Ava smirked from where she was standing as she watched Kadence walk away. Well she’s the one who left the portal unlocked in order to lure Kadence in and as foolish as she is, she fell into the trap…

“Let’s see if Emma or Sophia will save you from this one poor rat” She thought with a satisfied smile on her face.

Principal’s office**

“Miss Kadence Martins, do you just realize you violated the school’s number rule” Principal Michael spoke.

“Yes sir, I’m sorry…I shouldn’t have pry” Kadence picked on her fingers.

Michael stood up from his chair and walked then stood in front of Kadence.

“You also know that there are supernaturals living with you all right?” He asked.

Kadence looked up at him and nodded, looking back down…

“I’m sorry Kadence but they’re two things we have to do to you now that you know….”

“It’s either we wipe off your memory or we exile you in another realm” Michael said.

Kadence swiftly looked up at him with eyes that portrays nothing but fear.

“No, you can’t do this to me” Kadence said and the verge of tears.

“I’m sorry but there’s nothing we can do. Its the princess’s order…There is a demon in this school and that demon is after our future Queen’s life. We have to take all necessary precautions” Principal Michael said.

“Demons?” Kadence wondered out loud…

“Yeah… Not all supernatural are good guys. There are also bad guys too.. The vampires and the demon. The vampires are of the lower class while the demons are of high rank and very dangerous too” Principal Michael said…

“I see” She whispered. So they have every right to do whatsoever they want with her.

Kadence’s eyes widened as an idea came up in her…

“I have an idea” She exclaimed.

“Why don’t you let me train with the other supernatural. Yeah, I’m a human but I promise I’ll learn quick! Also you can change my hostel to that of the supernatural, there you’ll keep close eyes on me and if I misbehave then you can do whatever thing you want with my life” Kadence said in a rush.

She went to her knees as she let her tears out. Even the principal was surprised by her sudden action.

“Please don’t push me away from my friends and family. I just have some months to live and I want to make the most out of it….please” Kadence teared up.

“Huh?”

“I have an incurable sickness. The doctor said I just have limited time to live and that time is almost over” She said in sadness.

“Please, consider my proposal…” She closed her eyes and clamped her hands together.

What followed was silence. Principal Michael knelt down in front of her and opened her palms then placed something in it.

Kadence eyes snapped open and a gasp escaped her lips as she saw what it was.

“A key?” She whispered.

“I’ll transfer you to Lisa and Sophia’s room. Your training dress will be handed to you tomorrow. Training always begins at noon. Make sure you don’t get late.” Michael said and stood up right.

Kadence stood up too as she looked at the key with a smile in her lips.

“Thanks so much principal Michael” She said and hugged him.

Kadence got back to her senses and released him. He patted her hair and smiled.

“Make sure you don’t reveal our secret to anyone, even your sister” He said seriously. Kadence nodded…

“Good, you may leave now.” Principal Michael said and went to his seat.

Kadence bowed and looked at the key, walking out of the office. She jolted when she saw all her friends in front of her.

“So tell me what happened?” Emma asked, extremely worried…

Kadence smiled and showed them the key. They all gasped…

“From tomorrow I’m joining you guys” She smiled.

“Are you sure you’ll survive?” Connor asked.

“I’ll try my best” Kadence replied.

Emma pulled her in for a hug..

“Sorry I kept this secret from you” Emma whispered.

“It’s okay, I now understand” Kadence smiled and hugged her back.

“Let’s do a group hug!” Sophia said.

They all did a group hug. Liam dipped his hands in his pockets and walked away once he was assured Kadence wasn’t getting harmed.

He continued his way then halted in front of the library. He looked in then saw Jody who was busy chatting with Ava. His gaze was mostly on Jody

“This girl smells bad news” He muttered and walked away.

Kadence’s things were transferred to Lisa’s anf Sophia’s room.

“Wow, your room is dope!” Kadence said and laid down on her bed.

“Where’s Emma’s room” Kadence asked and sat up.

“She’s staying in Ava and Jody’s room” Sophia replied.

“Gosh, I’m sure she’s having a hard time” Kadence muttered.

Jody walked out of the library, heading to the restroom in order to urinate. She entered and eased herself before walking out.

“Hey Jody” A voice said at her left.

She turned and hissed loudly then rolled her eyes…

“What do you want?” She snapped.

Gideon gulped down and smiled nervously. He brought out something he was hiding at his back and stretched it to her.

Jody took it and unwrapped it. Her brows furrowed as she opened it to see a necklace. The necklace was beautiful and ‘I love you’ was written on it.

“What does this mean?” Jody frowned.

“Well as you see it, it means I love you. Jody, I’ve loved you for a long while. Please be my girlfriend” Gideon said.

Jody looked at him for a while then smiled. The smile was followed by a mocking laughter…

“Me? Your girlfriend? Hahahaha, that’s the dumbest thing I’ve heard since I were born” She said and laughed while holding her stomach.

Her face then turned back to serious.

“Listen ugly face, I don’t know how manage that illusion came to being but just get it out of your head. Your face makes me sick talkless of me being yours….Toad face” She spatted and threw the necklace at him then walked away while chuckling occasionally…

Gideon sighed and watched her as she walked away. He picked up the necklace and slowly walked away.

He walked till he reached a bench at the garden. He sat down and dipped his hand in his face fighting back his tears.

“I’m a man, men don’t cry” He kept saying…

Someone was sitting beside him and her sobs were clearly heard. He looked sideways and saw it was a girl. She had her face buried in her palms as her shoulders shook greatly.

“Hey” Gideon tapped her shoulder.

She looked up at him with red teary eyes…

“Nora?” Gideon muttered.

Nora sat up and quickly wiped off her tears then looked away.

“Why are you crying?” He asked…

“Nothing…(sniffs)…just that I’m unlucky when it comes to love” Nora wiping off her tears.

Gideon sighed and looked front watching as the sunset.

“We’re in the same pot of soup.” He said too.

“I don’t get it, I mean I’ve done everything possible so that she could notice me but still…” Gideon ruffled his hair.

“Yours is better… Mine sees me as a sister. Can you imagine how it hurts?” Nora said and almost broke in tears.

Gideon dipped his hand in his pocket and brought out the necklace then stretched it to Nora.

“Here…you can have it if that will console you.” He said.

“It’s beautiful” Nora said looking at it.

“Thanks, at least you think it’s nice” Gideon said.

That was followed by a moment of silence as both of them watched the sunset.

Gideon felt like a weight was placed on his shoulder. He looked to see Nora fell asleep and her head rested on his shoulder.

He looked front and finally let his tears out as he watched the sunset…
