The hall became dead silent after the sound of the bullet. There stood Eva, still trembling with her eyes shut. Eric had fired the gun and missed intentionally, making the bullet fly just above her head.

He uncocked the gun and returned it to his pocket. “I haven’t seen the f****ng video you’re talking about. How am I sure you’re not lying about it?”

Eva opened her eyes and raised her head but was still too terrified to speak.

“I saw the video, Master,” Anthonio, one of the men standing behind answered. The guards who caught Eva had taken the device to Anthonia to check and stop the video from publishing but he had failed. He explained to them that it was a sophisticated device and only her could use or access it. It would take some time for him to study the device before he could crack it.

Eric stared at the guard’s face for a moment and then returned his gaze to Eva.

“Where did you get the video from?” He asked.

Eva took in a few deep breaths, trying to make herself calm before she spoke. “I captured you with the hotel surveillance cameras.”

“You f****ng liar!” Eric cursed. “We deactivated the surveillance cameras before the operation,” he added and looked at Jonathan for confirmation.

“Yea, we did,” Joe nodded.

“I reactivated them 120 seconds after the deactivation,” she replied.

“You work in the hotel?” Eric raised his brows.

“No, but I was in the hotel that night. I knew you had him as your target.”

Eric paused for a moment. “And who did you get that information from?”

“No one, I found out myself.”

“That’s bullshit! You must be working with someone inside the Nanl gang who gave you that information,” he alleged and then turned to Jonathan. “You gotta figure out who that mole is.”

“There is no mole!” Eva exclaimed.

“Then, how the f**k did you know the number of people killed for wandering into the territory in the past few months? And how did you know that I was going to be at that hotel?”

“I found out myself. I’ve been following you for the past eight months. I hacked your device and was able to follow your conversation and I also hacked into the Nanl Territory system,” she explained and then tapped on her device. After a few touches on the screen, the lights went out and the whole place was thrown into darkness.

“What the heck is happening?” someone complained aloud

“It’s coming back on in five seconds,” Eva spoke out in the darkness.

True to her words, the lights came back on after five seconds.

Eric stared at her silently for a moment, impressed by her display but still convinced that she could not be working alone.

“I want you to stop the video from publishing right now,” Eric said to her in a commanding tone.

“I will but I need to trust you,” Eva’s voice sounded shaky. “You could ki*ll me after I stop it.”

“I won’t ki*ll you, you have my word,” Eric replied. “But if we confirm that you work for a secret agency or you’re an undercover of some sort. Your body will be fed to the vultures by morning.”

Eva tapped on her device once again and made a few touches before looking up. “I just cancelled it.”

“Confirm if she’s cancelled it,” Eric directed an order to Anthonio.

Anthonio stepped forward and stood beside her. He stared at the screen for a moment as she showed it to him.

“It’s cancelled,” he finally confirmed.

Eric remained silent, taking time to process his thoughts. After a while, he raised his head and directed his gaze at Eva who stood like one of his subjects awaiting judgment.

“Search her to check if she’s got any listening device or tracker attached to her body,” he commanded.

“We already searched her and found nothing,” one of the security officials who had caught her answered.

“Search again!” Eric thundered.

The men swung into action instantly, three of them surrounded Eva while Anthonio stepped away. They took her device off her hand and asked her to raise her hands.

While they were still searching, Eric stepped down from the platform and proceeded slowly towards them. The men gave way when he got close to them.

“We found nothing, Master,” the security guard who had spoken earlier reported. “We had Patricia to search her thoroughly earlier and she also found nothing.”

Eric did not give a response to the man’s words but kept staring at Eva. He not only noticed how young she was but also how beautiful and innocent she looked. However, there was no way her looks were going to deceive him or affect his judgment.

In the Nanl Assassin Clan, an innocent look on one’s face was a weapon, one that was used by many of them to gain their victim’s confidence before killing them.

For the first time, Eva was also having a close look at Eric. She had seen him from afar on several occasions and also seen him in videos.

She had always known he was handsome but it looked so real now. He had a square-shaped face with neatly trimmed beards and a moustache. His hair was lowly cut. She looked directly into his eyes and saw darkness as she had never seen in anyone’s eyes. She gasped and looked away in a few seconds as she could not resist the power of this dark side of him she was seeing.

“Take off your clothes,” he ordered after about one minute of silence.

She raised her face and stared at him like she didn’t hear him but the look on his face was enough to warn her not to delay. Quickly, she took off her top, leaving her bra to cover her breasts alone.

“Your trousers too,” he ordered again.

She was hesitant for a second but reminded herself that she had to be ready for anything, even if it was stripping completely naked. It took her less than thirty seconds to take off her trousers. She dropped it on the floor just on top of her shirt. Her panties were of the same colour as the bra.

Her body looked so perfect and so sexy to throw any man off balance. But Eric wasn’t moved by it. His eyes moved slowly down her body as if he was searching for something.

“Turn around,” he said to her after a minute of looking.

She turned around, her a$$ now facing him.

Eric took in a short breath as he viewed the a$$. He was distracted for a minute as she seemed like his type. But he managed to focus and searched her body with his eyes.

“Get a table,” he ordered one of the men after a minute. Then he turned to another one. “We need the RFID detector,” he said

The table was rolled to the spot in less than a minute and the metal detector was brought thirty seconds after.

“Lay on the table,” he commanded her.

Without hesitation this time, Eva climbed the table and laid straight. Eric moved closer and took the metal detector from the men who held it.

He turned to Eva but she shut her eyes immediately they met with Eric’s. Several thoughts ran through her mind as she laid on the table. She began to wonder if she was indeed ready to join the Assassin clan like she had made herself believe. Even though she had known from the onset that it would be a difficult task, the evil she could see in the men’s eyes was making her have second thoughts.

A cold touch on her knees made her wake from her thoughts. She opened her eyes and saw that it was Eric trying to spread her legs so he could move the detector around her body. She made it easier for him by spreading it well.

Soon, the detector began to move all around her body beginning from her neck. The process was so slow but Eric was patient as he was quite sure she had something planted under her skin.

It took about three minutes for him to move it around her whole body. Then he ordered her to turn. He ran the scan behind again and nothing was detected.

He let out a sigh and stepped back.

“Get down,” he ordered.

She moved down slowly and returned to her previous position to pick the clothes.

“Since you’re good with computers, you will join Anthonio in the IT section if you pass our other tests,” Eric gave his judgment and turned to leave.

“No, I want to be on the field. I want to ki*ll people just like you do,” she objected immediately.

Her words struck a chord in Eric and he stopped instantly. His face was full of rage as he turned. Not only was this b***h objecting to his orders but she was also comparing herself to him.
