Emerald
I sat on the chair in my room writing in my diary

I blushed when I recalled how Keith kissed me

Wait

How I’m i going to face him now?

Dear diary, you won’t believe what happened

I had my first kiss

Guess who kissed me

It’s someone i had been crushing on for 8 years

My phone started ringing and it was a call from Keith

OMG

why is he calling me now?

I feel so embarrassed to talk to him

I walked outside the house and stood there fanning myself

It’s so hot today

“Emerald! ” I heard someone yelled my name as i turned back and saw Keith running toward me

“Keith, what…… ” I couldn’t complete my statement when he grab my hand and continued to run

“What’s going on? ” I asked looking around while running then i noticed a man in black running after us

“oh my goodness ” I gasped as we continue running

Before I knew it, we were already in a forest
I gasped again

I looked back and saw that man still running after us

He threw a knife and this met Keith in his left abdomen

“Ah ” he groaned in pain as we hid behind a fat tree

“Keith, are you okay? ” I asked

With pain, he removed the knife

“will you be okay if you were me? ” he half yelled and peeked behind the tree to see if the man was gone

“Who is that man? and why is he after us? ” I asked and he covered my mouth

The man was still looking for us

I looked at Keith and he gave me a eye signal to shut up

Some minutes later he removed his hand from my mouth and leaned on the tree

He was bleeding

“Let’s go ” I said and helped him stood up

“We can’t go anywhere, we have to hid ” he said with pain

” I don’t understand what’s going on ” I said and he sighed

“Let’s find a place to stay unless you want me dead ” he said as i helped him sit down under a tree

I looked around and luckily, I saw an hotel not so far from where we were

“I found a place ” I grinned and he stood up holding his abdomen
I helped him walk and soon we arrived at the hotel

I sat him down and walked to the receptionist

“Hi, how much are we paying for two rooms? ” I asked and she looked at us like we were strangers

Of course we are strangers but the look on her face is a bit annoying

“Two rooms for a night is 800 dollars ” she said and I covered my mouth with shock

“800 dollars ” I asked and she nod

“Keith, how much do you have with you? ” I asked as i walked back to him

He brought out his wallet from his pocket and gave it to me

After counting all the money, he had 650 dollars with him

“Is this all u have? ” I asked and he nod

“What of you? ” he asked

“I brought nothing with me, I don’t have anything not even my phone ” I said and walked back to the receptionist

“Well, we are high school students and…” she cuts in

“And what? If you have no money then walk out ” she made signal with her head

I sighed and gave her 400 dollars

“We are ordering for one room then ” I said and she handed me the key

“well, my friend is injured, can I have the first aid box? ” I asked and she nod

She bent down and stood up again as she gave me the box

Keith and i walked to the room as i quickly sat him on the bed

I gulped before unbuttoning his shirt

It was full of blood

I rolled the bandage around the bleeding part

I looked up and saw him starring at me

“It must have hurt a lot, sleep on the bed ” I Said

“what about you? ” he asked

“I will sleep on the floor”

“Why? ” he asked and i sighed

“Where do you expect me to sleep ” I half yelled

“Sleep on the bed with me ” he said and I started to cough

“You must have lost your mind ugh ” I said as i spread a blanket on the floor and took one pillow from the bed

“Good night ”

“But who was that man after us? ” I asked

“I don’t know him but I know he is after our lives, Kelvin told me to run away ” he said as tears gathered in his eyes

“What of Kelvin? ” I asked and he burst into tears

Is he crying?
Unbelievable

“What happened Keith?” I asked and he sighed sadly

“Kelvin was shot while trying to save me ” he said with tears

“What? ” my eyes widened with shock

I couldn’t say anything again

I just laid on the floor and closed my eyes sadly

I just hope Kelvin is okay

Couldn’t get a wink of sleep

I stood up from the bed and saw emerald already asleep

I sighed and carried her on the bed i covered her with the duvet and walked outside

I stared at the sky and wondered who could be after my life

“Kelvin, you promised to live so you should fulfill your promise ” I said still staring at the sky

“What are you doing here? ” I heard Emerald’s voice behind me

“I thought you were asleep ” I said and she stood beside me

“I was asleep not until I noticed someone was missing ” she said with a smile

“will Kelvin be alright? ” I asked and she nod

“of course, I know Kelvin will be alright, he is a strong man ugh ” she grinned

“You are saying that to make me feel better ” I said and she held my hand and smiled again

“You never smiled, why? ” she asked

“Because I have been lonely all my life ” i replied

“What do you mean lonely? Kelvin is always there for you ” she said and I sighed

“I….was always locked up in my room almost everytime, so I don’t have the chance to make friends or play with Kelvin ” I said and I could tell, the look on her face was a sorry look

“Don’t give me that look, I’m okay” I said and she released my hand and hug me

“You are so cute ” she whispered in my ear

“I love you ” she said again and my heart jumped with joy

I’m not sure if I should tell her about my eye problem and me being an adopted child

She disengaged the hug and looked at me

“from now on, I’m not going to avoid eye contact with you, I’m going to stare directly into your eyes ” she said but I couldn’t do anything

I don’t know how to smile

And I don’t know if I should cry

“Young master ” I heard someone calling as i slowly opened my eyes

“Young master, are you okay now? ” the guards asked and I sat up

I was still feeling pain

I just wish Keith and emerald are no more here

“Where is lugard? ” I asked

Lugard was the one who gave me the information that Keith was in danger

“I’m here young master” he said and bowed

“Who gave you the recording tape? ” I asked and brought out his phone and showed the picture of a girl

” her name is s Chloe ” he said and I looked at the picture closely

I’ve seen her before

“Bring her here now ” I said and he walked out

Few minutes later………

“I’m Chloe ” she said as she entered

I stood up from the hospital bed and moved closer to her

“You know who is behind everything right? ” I asked and she stared at the ground

“I…….don’t know ” she stammered

“Answer me while I’m nice ” I said but she didn’t lift up her head not to talk of speaking up

I stretched my hand at lugard and he handed me a gun

I pointed the gun at her

“Lugard is a police with the license to ki*ll, if I sh00t you, I will only tell lugard to make your death the death of a criminal, speak out now ” I said and on seeing the gun, she went on her knees

“please spare my life ” she pleaded and I squat before her

“Tell me who is behind this and I will spare your life ” I said and she burst into tears

“It’s….it’s……..it’s…… Mr’s Mendler ” she finally said

I felt like I was given a punch in the stomach when she said that

“My mother? ” I asked to be sure if I was hearing the right thing

“Yes, please keep my secret, she said she’s going to ki*ll me if I reveal it to anyone ” she said with tears

I stumbled back and held my head

I drove to mom’s company like a mad man

Angrily, I walked to her office and opened the door without knocking

“Son, what are you doing here ?” she asked with a smile on her face
“Mom why? ” I asked, tears gathered in my eyes

“What’s wrong? ” she asked innocently

“Why did you try to ki*ll Keith? ” I asked and the smile on her face vanished turning into an evil grin

“You found out it was me? ” she asked and sat on her chair

“But why? Keith is your son! ” I yelled and she banged her hand on the table

“Who said Keith is my son? You know that he was found crying beside your dad’s company 18 years ago, we felt sorry that’s why we adopted him ” she yelled back at me

“So? What if he was adopted? You raised him like your son ” I said as tears dripped from my eyes

“I only did that because of your father, he loves only Keith and he is always treating you like you are a nobody, you are the real son not that bas***d ” she scoffed and I leaned on the wall

“Just what are you up to, why are you trying to ki*ll him at all cost ” I sniffed back my tears

“I’m after your dad’s company, why is your dad trying to make Keith the heir instead of you “she pointed to me

” I’m not interested in that company ” I yelled

“Well, you are going to be interested because all this is for you ” she sipped her coffee and leaned forward

“You have to choose one of us, I, your mother or that bas***d Keith ”
