Chapter thirty Nine
He almost punched the idiot’s face. Damn! He was never jealous of anyone before.

“Stay away from her. She’s mine” He gave Chris a warning tone before dragging Claire away from him.

“He was just having fun with me.” Claire protested innocently.

“Having fun with you?” He scoffed. “You knew I’d ki*ll any man who flirt with you.”

That sentence caught Claire off guard.

“Hey Claire! I’m sure Hunter is still at home right?” Asked Hunter’s mother.

“Yes. He’s still here actually. I’m sure he’s preparing……..”

“I’m not going to work today, mom.” His voice suddenly shook Claire as she turned to see him.

She had put the phone on loud speaker.

“Hunter! Why!? Ohh! Are you two going out on a date or something?” The woman giggled.

“Date? No. I actually feel kind of tired today.’

“Lazy boss man. Anyway, I wanted to talk to Claire.”

“Don’t tell me you’re going to a party, mom?”

“Shh! How did you know anyway? I wanted her to come along with me. I need to show someone off that I have a better daughter-in-law than her.”

Claire chuckled while Hunter made a frown.
“Mom! We aren’t married yet.” Hunter made it clear.

“Whatever! My whole body tells me she’s yours. I don’t wanna delay you guys, I will send my driver to pick you up tomorrow. Don’t forget to dress beautifully dear. Bye.”
The call went off.

‘I guess you’re starting to get more close to my mom now. The fact that she’s so fond of you is something else.” Said Hunter.

“Hmm, I didn’t mean to……”

“I’m not saying you shouldn’t get close to my mom. You can. I love it when I remember you’re one of the reason why you make my mom smile, happy and cheerful.

You’re doing more than your job here, Claire but I love it. I will call the doctor to come check on your brother. Take your time here.” He walked away with his hands stuck in his trouser pocket.

Claire watched him till he was out of sight. She recalled his words again.
Was that a compliment? Maybe. Just maybe.

She didn’t want to think of it too much. She doesn’t want his words to get her head much.
Though, she smiled before walking into her brother’s room.

She smile again, seeing her brother get in hale and healthy was one thing she prayed for.
Now, it seems her prayer is getting answered.

Maybe she should be happy that she met him. Hunter.
