SEMI FINAL

Fred POV

I walked inside enthusiastically, I can not wait to break the news to Sonia.

I couldn’t find her in the kitchen, I ran inside the room and saw her sleeping.

I could have left her but I felt like it’s worth waking her up for.

I woke Rose from sleep and she struggled to open her puffy eye.

She looked lean, it’s hard to tell if it was because of the pregnancy or because she was thinking about Anita being a thorn in our marriage.

“Baby!” I called her name happily and she raised her puffy eyes at me.

She sat upright when she saw that my face held so much happiness.

“What’s the good news?” She asked.

“Actually, the baby inside Anita is not mine.” I said happily.

“For real?”She asked.

” Yes! Yes!” I shouted happily. “We will have our baby and live happily.”

Sonia’s face that had been lightening suddenly became dull, I can not place the reason why.

“What’s wrong Sonia?” I asked.

“We would live happily henceforth if you get a work and start working. It’s the only thing left that will make me happy.” She said and my enthusiastic face dropped.

I walked out of the room and went to sit on the long stool outside.

Three days later, despite the good news of Anita being away from our family, Sonia had been given me attitudes and its making the house boring.

Well, I once wanted her to make love with me and now she does. I should be able to do what she wants if it will make her happy.

I walked inside to her, it was late at night and she had just finished eating.

She was sitting before her laptop, probably reviewing some of her works.

“Sonia! I’ve altered my decision.” I said standing beside her.

“I’m all ears.” She said without turning to me.

“I’m ready to work now.” I said and she turned to me.

“Are you for real?” She asked, her face was beginning to lighten up.

“Yes.” I said and she stood.

She hugged me tightly

“I could have taken a temporary excuse from work because of my pregnancy and stay at home for the rest of the months till I deliver , but if I do that, there won’t be earnings in those months and I would be stranded.

If you start working, you will be able support me.” She said and I reasoned with her.

We hugged.
