Chapter 41

Alma.

“No.” I wrote, I felt like he might be up to something, I shouldn’t trust men that much. I remembered the last time he suddenly appeared at the toilet, even though he did not touch me, I felt uncomfortable nevertheless.

He didn’t say a word after my answer till he walked away, I sighed and after few minutes, our test results was collected.

“Please sit and give me few minutes to mark, remain quiet please.” The man sat and began to mark.

Stanley sat beside him and helped him in some scripts.

“Stanley stood behind you till we were done with text, did he tell you the answers to the test?” Jennifer asked.

“Of course not.” I faced Jennifer, “He said for me to help him that I must become his friend.”

“Friend!” Jennifer exclaimed. “How can someone as honourable as Stanley be asking for your friendship? He’s blessed with everything.”

“I was surprised too, he said he would make me get called out as the best student in this course if I accept to be his friend but I declined, you never can tell what he us up to.” I said.

“He must be up to something, that sounded really weird.” Jennifer said and we both concentrated our attention on the teacher and Stanley.

Even though the man wanted the class to be silent, students do not stop talking.

Few minutes later, the teacher stood with the results and said, “Let me have your attentions, please.”

When he saw that everyone had concentrated on him, he gazed underneath his eye glass at the sheet of paper he was holding. The sheet of paper probably contains our text result.

“The top three students of this text are, starting from the third position is John Boscow, second position is Stone Daniel and the overall best student is Alma Andrew.

I could not beleive my ears when I heard my name, I didn’t agree to Stanley’s promise neither did I write anything worthy of becoming best student in my test.

I stood and walked out, still in shock.

The man congratulated me, ” You did really well.” He smiled broadly.

The students hailed me as I walked back to my class.

“I thought you said you didn’t agree to be Stanley’s friend?” Jennifer asked

“I didn’t, sincerely.” I answered. “I’m as surprised as you are.”

After we had close for the day, I was walking through the corridor of the school alongside Jennifer when Stanley suddenly appeared.

“Alma.”Stanley called, Jennifer excused us.

” Bye Jennifer.” I waved at her as she walked away.

“What did you do to my request, I didn’t agree to be your friend.” I said.

“But I already see you as one, which is why I helped you. You only have to see me as a friend too.” He said and Edwin suddenly appeared.

“Clifford is waiting for you at the garage, follow me…we do not have much time.” Edwin said.

“Oh! See you next time, Stanley?” I said to Stanley and began to follow Edwin.
