Chapter 17

Alma.

When it was closing period, just like I had expected, Daisy walked in to me, she was not with Stanley.

“How was lecture?” She asked.

“Went well.” I answered gently.

“About the contract, what’s your final decision?” She questioned.

“Well, I can’t live with Stanley for two years and, that system of payment after two years will not work…so, I do not think I will be accepting the contract.” I stated.

“We’ll pay you $1,000,000 three month after joining us, the purpose of living with Stanley is to practice with him frequently, nevertheless, you are free to leave after three months.” She said.

$1,000,000 after three months is a very huge money.

“Give me time to think about it, please.” I said.

“Fine.” She answered and walked away.

I turned back to my chair and thought deeply on either I should accept it or not. I didn’t know the secretes of Stanley or who he really is.

Clifford is a student of my school and I know that apart from his excessive hatred for poor people, he seems not to have any bad side.

It will be so foolish of me to believe that Stanley is a simple as he seems. He may be , but he will sure have his scary side also.

If it turns out to be worst than that of Clifford, I will regret it and Clifford would mock me.

I do not want to sign any contract, it’s the way I feel right now.

I want to have my own band and be an independent dancer. That’s my dream not to work under someone.

I want band to hire me instead, I will work towards that.

About an hour later, I arrived home and I greeted my my mother was picking the beans.

She looked lean and skinny, I shouldn’t expect less, this is someone that eats barely once a day.

“I wasn’t expecting to see you home anytime soon, is everything fine?” She asked.

“Yes mom, Clifford sent me away from their band but that’s not an issue, my dream as a dancer is not really to work under someone but to become a popular independent dancer.” I said.

“Are you, alright Alma? you are speaking nonsense. How have you behaved to Clifford that made him fire you? you know how we had been suffering in this house for many years now that you have an opportunity to turn our situation around, you are talking nonsense about independence, even if you want to become independent, is it difficult to work under someone firstly?” She asked angrily.

“Mom, he didn’t just let me go, he gave me $300,000.” I said and my mom’s face heightened in shock.

“Did he promise to give you or…?” She asked.

“It’s in my account, mom.” I smiled and sat.

“What business have you been willing to start , mom?” I asked.

“Send $250,000 to your dad’s account, we will discuss on a business we can start with it…thank you so much , Alma. She said softly as tears poured from her eyes.
