❣️ALEXA❣️

I was so tired from standing all day on the field so I took a nap when I got home.
I only wake up when aunt Kate came to call me out for dinner.

Aunt kate made Charlestone red rice and turkey for dinner.
She’s a really great cook and I’d like to try her recipes some days when I’m less busy.

I almost sent her a thank you text but I deleted it instantly.
The thank you would be better appreciated if it’s coming from my mouth directly and not through a text but I don’t think I’m ready to start talking to everyone yet.

“Hope you’re getting used to Arkansas?” Uncle Evan asked me as we finished eating dessert.
I nod positively in response to his question.

“I’m glad to hear that. You’d soon adapt to this town though a part of you will always be a city girl” he said.

I guess he’s right in some ways.
I miss the hustle and bustle of NYC though I kinda prefer the serenity here.
I also observed that people know their neighbours by name here unlike NYC where everyone is too busy working their asses off to care if their neighbour is a weido or a cool person.

It’s a nice feeling to be acknowledged when you’re walking on the street which is something that can’t happen in New York City cos you’re just another face.

You don’t have any importance except if you’re lucky to be an elite that’s the only thing that can make people give you special attention or notice you on the streets.

I cleared the table and carried the tray to the kitchen.

I finished washing the dishes and I went back to my room to take a quick shower before Oliver comes.

It’s now a ritual for Oliver to drop by every night. We’d talk and he’d sing for me before I sleep off.

I wore a bathrobe and I went to take my shower.
I walked into my room and I saw Oliver sitting on my chair.

I didn’t need to tell him to turn before he did just that.
I quickly changed into my pyjamas and I sat down on my bed.

” I’m through, you can turn back” I whispered.
I’m always whispering whenever I want to talk to him here cos anyone might overhear us if they walk past my door.

“Hey, you look cute” Oliver said.
My face turns a deep shade of pink while I blushed.

” Thanks, you were great on the field” I said honestly.

” I know right” he said with a smirk.
This guy’s ego is taller than mountain Everest 🤣

“Alexa, I want to tell you something” Oliver said sounding serious all of a sudden.

” Okay, I’m all ears” I replied.

” I was narrating how the match went to my dad and I kinda mentioned your name a couple of times so now he’s very eager to meet you and I don’t know how you feel about this” Oliver said.

I’m feeling happy and also a bit tensed about meeting his parents.

” I’d love to meet him but I’m worried he’s not going to like me or something” I confessed.

” I’m sure he’d love you. Who in his right sense wouldn’t” Oliver said.
I wonder if he loves me also but I dare not ask him.

” I hope so. Can you tell me about your parents? ” I asked.

” Yeah. My dad was a happy-go-lucky person before his sickness kicked in, he lives life to the fullest and he has a lot of friends unlike mom who doesn’t really make much friends though she’s a close friend of your aunt” Oliver said.

” Wow! I can’t wait to meet them” I said.

” I doubt that. I’m feeling sleepy already” I said.

I watch Alexa as she slept.
She looks so beautiful and innocent while sleeping.

I had to control myself from kissing her hard on the lips.
I remember how she tasted when I kissed her at Landon’s party.
I hope I get to kiss her again cos I loved the way her lips molded perfectly with mine.

Am feeling nervous about Alexa meeting with my dad cos I’m not sure if he’d be in a fit state to talk to her when he sees her.

The ray of the sun was getting into my eyes so I was forced to wake up at last.
I know even without checking that Oliver has left hours ago.

I stood up, stretched my lithe body and yawned loudly.
I removed my pyjamas and wore my bathrobe.

I finished my morning rituals and I wore a black gown and packed my hair in a bun.

I went to the dining room and I met only Aunt Kate there.

“Good morning dear” Aunt Kate said.
I hugged her briefly before I sat down.

“I didn’t cook because I woke up late so you’d have to settle for cereals” he said and I nod.

I took a clean bowl and poured some cereals in it. I opened the tin of milk and scooped some quantity into my cereal. I add a little water to it and I began to eat.

I finished eating and I washed my used bowl.
I sent a text to aunt Kate.

💬Can I take a stroll around the streets?”
Me.

I’m really bored and I haven’t had time to observe the scenery around this place.
Aunt Kate’s message popped in few minutes later.

💬Sure, you can but try not to go far so you can find your way back home”
Aunt Kate.

💬Okay. Thanks Aunt Kate. You’re the best💕💓💙”
Me.

Hurray!
I grabbed a pair of tennis shoe from my shoe rack and off I went.

I stepped out into the scorching sun and I had to protect my face from the blinding sun by covering my face with my face cap.

I noticed that most of the houses are similar to each based on their architectural designs.

I walked past a beautiful garden and I paused to admire the rose flowers on display.

I wish I could pluck one of the rose flowers but the owners are not in sight so if I take it without permission that means I’ve stolen.
After staying up to 30 minutes in the garden I proceed with my sight seeing.

I walked past a boy who was playing with his puppy.
The puppy is so cute.
I wish I have a pet too.

I have been walking for almost two hours so I think it’s time I call it a day.
I’d continue my tour some othe day.
I turned back and retraced my steps so I won’t get lost.

I was almost at home when I saw Hunter and his friends entering the house.
I got in few seconds after they arrived and I caught a glimpse of Hunter in the kitchen.

“Hi Alexa, can you help me make some cookies please” Hunter said.
I nod in affirmation.
Hunter thanked me before he went to meet his friends in the sitting room.

I made the cookies and I carried it to the sitting room.

” Thanks Alexa” they all chorused.
I smiled and left them to enjoy the cookies.

I’ve not gotten to my room when a text popped up on my phone.

💬Thanks for the cookies. It’s really delicious”
Oliver.

I smiled even though he can’t see me.

💬You’re welcome. How is your dad?”
Me.

💬He talked with me for twenty minutes today but the doctor said we shouldn’t stress him too much”
Oliver.

💬Okay. I’ve not talked to uncle Evan about coming to your place but I’d tell him very soon”
Me.

We texted each other till he left with the other guys.

🍽️ DINNER🍽️

We have just finished eating dinner which is fried chicken with macaroni and cheese.

” I ran into Laura at the mall today and she’s become so thin and she looks somehow sad” Aunt Kate said.

Aunt kate ain’t a gossip so I think this Laura is someone important to them.

” What? Laura is always smiling so what happened to her. Is she perhaps sick?” Uncle Evan asked dropping his napkin on the table.

I took a look at Hunter and he’s as shocked as uncle Evan.
I guess this Laura, whoever she is, is very close to all of them.

” Oliver was here today. He didn’t mention anything about his mom being sick although he’s somehow weird these days” Hunter said.

Oh! So Laura is Oliver’s mom.
Poor her, I bet taking care of her husband has taken its toll on her.

“Peter is having stage 4 lymph cancer. Laura said there’s no hope so he’d die at any moment” aunt Kate said.

I’ve known this already so it’s no news to me.

” OMG! That’s why Oliver has been acting strangely all these while. I feel guilty for snapping at him earlier” Hunter said.

” Laura said peter would love to meet Alexa because according to her, Alexa is a wonderful friend to Oliver and she’s helping him deal with the pain” Aunt Kate said and Hunter stared at me in shock.

I guess he’s wondering how I got to be friends with Oliver.

“Okay, Alexa can go tomorrow. Do you have Oliver’s contact so he can come pick you up” Uncle Evan said.

I nod positively and I packed all the dishes to the kitchen.
I can’t believe I’d meet Oliver’s parents tomorrow.
I’d tell Oliver when he comes this night.
