“Long time no see.”

Ethan joked as I placed a glass of water on a tab for him.

“Yeah. I guess you could say that. I’ve been busy, I’m sorry I didn’t check up on you.”

“It’s fine. You needed the space in the first place.”

I didn’t argue but he was right about that.

“Congrats on winning the case by the way.”

“Thank you. I didn’t know you heard about that.”

“It’s Stefan Pierce. Everyone heard about it. I would’ve showed up but I didn’t know how he would react seeing as it was partially my fault.”

“He wouldn’t have said anything. Stefan isn’t mad at you. If he was, he wouldn’t have left his company in your care.”

I reasoned with him as he sipped a little water.

“I guess so. As soon as the case was over, I rushed here because I need to speak to you.”

“Alright.”

“I’m sorry I hide the truth from you. I really am.”

“I’m not mad about that Ethan. I realised it wasn’t your fault you just did what you thought was best so really, I’m not angry.”

“That’s a relief.”

He sighed and I smiled.

“I know it’s non of my business but I have to ask, Daniella is obviously not an obstacle anymore so are you and Stefan going to get together?”

He asked plainly and truth be told, it was like a splash of water on my face.

After the incident at his place, I bolted and now the question comes back to haunt me.

“Are you Lina?”

He inquired again.

“I don’t know truthfully. I told him we would talk about it when the case is done…”

“So why are you here and not over there talking to him.”

“Because Daniella is still the child’s mother. She has a court order that allows her to see him whenever she likes and it’ll stop as soon as Stefan gets married.”

“So you’re worried he’ll marry you to get rid of her fully or that you won’t be enough for him to make the decision. ”

“Both.”

I admitted truthfully.

“This is really weird to talk about especially with you.”

I admitted and he chuckled.

“Which is why you shouldn’t be talking about it with me. You’re giving Daniella exactly what she wants. The only way to find out what Stefan wants is to go over there and talk to him.”

I huffed out and he held my hand.

“I came here to tell you to do what makes you happy and like I said, I’m sorry about what happen now go and get what you deserve.”

I felt a surge of excitement rush through me.

“Alright. I will.”

I said and grabbed my purse before dashing out of the house.

My anxiety had reached its peak when I got back to his place. I rang the doorbell waiting for Tovia to respond.

“He’s upstairs.”

She says on sighting me. I nodded my head with a smile and rushed upstairs.

My hair stood at its end as I stretched my hand forward and knocked on the door stepping back. Seconds past and I heard nothing. My heart nearly broke. I sighed about to turn around.

“Who is it?”

His voice came out. Low, broken and down.

“It’s Lina.”

I replied holding a breath. The door knob twisted and his face was revealed.

“There’s something I need to tell you.”

“We need to talk.”

We said simultaneously as he gazing at me.
