Roses and Thorns – Episode 33

CHAPTER THIRTY THREE

The sun was scorching hot when the stalker got home from the hospital, he walked straight to his room and fell on the bed with a thud, his mind flickered to what his father had told him, he flinched, the old man still hated him even on his dying bed. He fished out his phone from his pocket and dialed a number, he needed encouragement and motivation which he never got from his father.

“Hello Ezenwa” Ambler spoke after picking on the third ring.

“I have done it Ambler, the old man is dead” the stalker said calmly.

“That is it, you are brave, the great son of your father, you have done well, the old man deserved that and more for treating like trash but loved his bas***d son” Ambler chuckled from the other end.

“He said he still hates me, the old man for some reason knew i was the one, i guess blood is thicker than water” the stalker replied sadly.

“Wait, don’t tell me you are regretting finishing him off,? common Ezenwa, i don’t know you to be a weakling, you are a beast and beasts don’t have sympathy and feeling. do you know how many times i pleaded with the old man to treat you right and even add you to his will but he refused? he deserved whatever he got” he hissed making sure the stalker heard him.

“This the reason i like talking to you, you give me all the encouragement that i never got from so called father, you give me your support and your words make me feel strong” the stalker growled, his beastly character came back.

“Now that is more like the Ezenwa i know, the only thing remaining now is bringing your father’s documents to me, time is no longer on my side” he grinned.

“Sure, you will have the documents soon” the stalker replied hanging up.

Joel knocked on Melody’s door, he was worried, ever since they got back from the salon she had been acting strange, he wondered if he said something that got her angry and he was even ready to apologise for something he knew nothing about.

“Yes, come in” she interrupted his thoughts. He opened the door, poked his head in the room.

“Hello my angry Bird” he said with a smile. Melody frowned.

“Angry what? am not angry” she scoffed. Joel walked in fully closing the door behind.

“What did i do? you have been cold towards me since we got back from the salon” he asked sitting on the bed with her.

“Do you have an ulterior motive towards me? will you hurt me afterwards?” she asked coldly.

“Now where is this question coming from?” Joel asked caressing her feet. She shifted her legs and eyed him.

“Okay, am sorry for whatever pain i might have caused you, please forgive me, your silence is Killing me” Joel pleaded.

“Do you really love me like you said? or you just want to sleep with me and dump me for someone in the same social class with you?” she barked irritated.

“I think you heard something from the salon, can you tell me about it please?” he said softly.

“There is a big rift between you and i. You are rich, very rich and i am a nobody from the slums, i don’t think we are a match, who would see sophisticated ladies and come for a local champion like me from the ghetto, am not just ready for a heartbreak?” she rolled her eyes looking away from him.

“You think i only came for sex? you think am deceiving you? Melody i am more than that, if i told you that i love you then i mean it, social status doesn’t matter when there is true love. i can’t believe you still have doubt about what i feel for you, damnit” Joel cursed gritting his teeth.

“I am only trying to be careful, i just don’t know what attracted you to me” she shrugged.

“You know what? i think we should give each other some space, i need to think” he stood up walking away.

“Please wait, am sorry, please come back let’s talk about it” Melody pleaded but he was already gone.
