I can sense the disappointment after my words. I’m sure he’s expecting a blunt No. Instead, I made him even more agitated and confused. He cleared his throat lightly standing up to go get water.

After he left, I thought about what he had said. Not me gaining my freedom, that would be for later but him and I having a future and of course the last part.

The fact that he’s falling in love with me. I’m not sure how love works considering the fact that I’m never been the one for feelings so I wouldn’t know. That aside, I doubt it’s possible to fall in love with someone on such short notice. Ethan and I haven’t had up to ten meetings. The reason why we even got a little close was because I tried to use him. Guilt is eating me up slowly on that note and I feel the need to explain things to him.

“Umm Ethan.”

I call out as he carefully drops the bottles water.

“Yeah?”

“There’s something I have to tell you. A confession. The guilt I’m carrying isn’t healthy. The only way to get rid of it is to open up to you?”

“On what exactly?”

“Remember Friday Stefan took me to work…”

I trailed off hoping he would forgive me. Hoping I was doing the right thing.

“Yeah.”

“Well, I didn’t go to your office to pass time away. I did it on purpose. I did everything on purpose that day.”

“What do you mean?”

His asks, his countenance had slowly changed. I had to exhale before continuing.

“The day before, I had found out some things that didn’t make sense. Things about Stefan. I wanted to find the truth out so I knew I could go to you since you were friends and all.”

“You manipulated me?”

He asks sadly.

“No. I didn’t do it like that Ethan. I promise I didn’t mean any harm. I just wanted to find out the truth, I’m sorry you got caught in the cross hairs. It wasn’t my intention at all. I never wanted any of this to happen. I’m so sorry.”

I said in one breath trying hard not to tear up.

“You used me Lina….”

He trailed off bowing his head slightly.

“I didn’t. I just wanted to find out the truth about that woman and his wife.”

“You wanted to find out the truth. Alright then. You want the truth, I’ll give it to you. You found out about Lucia so why don’t I tell you exactly who that other woman is and what she means to Stefan.”

He states and I can tell he’s hurt. Suddenly, I’m not interested in what he has to say anymore.
