I ponder silently if I should walk up closer and maybe smack his head or just keep staring and hope he comes back to his senses sooner or later.

“I know it’s sounds crazy…”

“It is crazy.”

I clarify with no alternative.

“It’s not.”

“If you look at it from my perspective.”

He adds quickly leaving me slightly intrigued.

“Ok…. Am listening.”

“She wants you to give her your name or takes your child away from you right? Those are her conditions. It’s perfect. Give her yours then.”

“Huh?”

I question a little perplexed.

“Tell her that she gets to me Mrs Pierce but with some conditions. She gets the whole name and all but you’ll have to set some boundaries and you’ll still get to see your son.”

“You’re forgetting the fact that I’ll be married.”

I state in a duh-tone.

“Think of it like those fake arranged marriages or something. Besides, give it like a year or two and leave. But for now, you need to make sure you don’t loose your son.”

He says and his voice is so tender I’m actually considering the crazy plan.

“But…..”

“You can still be with other girls. Like I said, the marriage would be on your terms.”

“But…”

“Or is there someone you’re worried would find this hard to comprehend?”

For some reason, my mind drifts off to Lina. When she finds out I have a son, her reaction would be unpredictable. I don’t even want to fathom what she’ll do the second she finds out I’m going to get married to the mother of my son. It’ll seem fitting I’ll have to let her go, live her life. It’s just been a few weeks with her but I don’t want to.

I rake my hands through my hair in a state of utter confusion. I’m a selfish d**k for wanting it all but I do. I want my son close to me, I want Lina too but sadly, if I want to get one, I’ll have to let go of the other. Sadly, can I?

“Stefan, I know it’s impromptu. You don’t want to get married, I know. I understand it fully but man, this is your son we’re talking about. He means so much to you from what I’ve noticed. How far are you willing to go to ensure you remain in his life. This is the time to prove it. This is the only suitable option I see. The ball is in your court man. What do you say?”

Ethan asks, I exhale deeply and think for a second or two.

I can’t believe I’m doing this. Ethan is right. I can’t loose my son, I’ll give Daniella all the conditions to ensure the relationship is strictly platonic. I’ll have to put up with her. For my son.

“I’ll do it.”

I mouth seconds later. The air in the room in dense. Neither of us are smiling. I did what has to be done, I’ll hate myself for it. But still, I did what has to be done.
