MY BIRTHDAY PARTY – EPISODE 8

Winifred got to school and wasn’t concentrating at all, she kept looking at the door waiting for Lily to walk in but she didn’t.

After the first lecture Winifred left the hall, she called up Oliver number but it was switched off.

“I’ll check him up at the hospital, she said and Left.

 

She asked a nurse there about Doctor Oliver but she was reluctant to tell her anything.

“Sorry am his friend, Winifred said.

“Do you have any appointment with him? The nurse asked and she nodded.

“OK I’ll go tell him you’re here, Winifred right? The nurse asked.

“Yes Winifred, she replied and the nurse left.

 

A minute later she returned letting Winifred in, “thank you, Winifred calmly said to her when the nurse showed her the door.

 

She knocked once and opened up to see Oliver feeding a little girl.

“Hi what a surprise, you should have called me to meet you, Oliver said.

“And your number was switched off, she replied.

“Hi good morning, Cindy waved at Winifred and she smiled touching her chin “morning cutie, what’s your name? Winifred asked.

“Cindy, she replied and Winifred noticed the bruises on their body.

 

“What happened? I mean this bandages how come? Winifred asked.

“Errmm can you sit down first? Oliver asked.

“I was with you yesterday and you were not in this state, Winifred said.

“Dear am fine, I just had an accident but am good, Oliver said.

“Uncle was that an accident? Cindy asked.

 

“Dear tell me what happened? Winifred asked Cindy.

“Some bad men attacked us and destroyed our home, at first I thought we were going to die but luckily for us the cops arrived, Cindy narrated as Oliver just rolled his eyes watching her.

 

“Why didn’t you tell me this? Winifred asked him.

“I didn’t want you to worry okay, we only had wounds from the glasses that broke on us but we are fine, Oliver said and she saw the deep cut on Oliver chest.

She slowly touched it and her heart melted, “does it hurt? She asked.

‘Your hand just took the pains away Winifred, Oliver said touching her hand on his chest.

 

“Uncle I’ll go meet the nurse outside, bye, Cindy said leaving the room with her food and Oliver smiled.

“Your niece? Winifred asked taking her hand from his chest.

“Nope, I took her here. She was diagnosed of a deadly ailment and her parents thought she won’t survive it because the treatment was expensive. They left her here and never returned, I had to take it on me, paid for the bills and took her home, Oliver said.

 

“That’s so wicked of them, Winifred gasped.

“Am trying my best to take that hatred and anger from her, I’ll make sure I’ll reunite her with her parents though she wants to stay with me, Oliver said.

“At least she’s training you on how to be a lovely dad someday, Winifred said.

“You know I can’t wait to be a dad soon, but first i want to be a husband to that lucky lady, Oliver said looking at Winifred and she blinked getting up.

 

“Were they caught? I mean the bad men according to Cindy, Winifred asked.

“Nope, you wanted seeing me and you sounded troubled why? He asked.

“Ermmm, I ermmm, I really don’t know how to start it, she replied.

“Winifred please don’t hide anything from me, if there’s anything i need to know please tell me, Oliver said.

“Joseph came home and he was talking about you. But he said I’ll never be happy if I’ll love another apart from him, I don’t know I just feel scared and insecure, Winifred said.

 

“Really, Oliver said and sighed.

“He met me yesterday too he warned me to stay clear from you before the attack, what are you thinking? He asked.

“This morning I met with Lily ex boyfriend, he told me Joseph threatened him to stay clear from her and he barely survived his attack, she said.

“What exactly happened between Lily and her ex? I mean what led to the breakup? Oliver asked sitting up.

 

“Ermm Lily was shown pictures of her ex kissing a lady in a club, she was so mad with that and when she wanted approaching him, he was no where to be found. Then I started seeing Joseph come around and that’s how their love story began, Winifred said.

“Am just thinking, how many years have you known this guy Joseph? Oliver asked and Winifred began Pacing around.

 

“There’s something you and Lily don’t know, I’ve known him for years now. But I can’t bring myself to love him, before I met my first love he was just there. When he broke up with me for no just reason, he was there before Duke came around and was gone, Joseph was just still there.

I wasn’t comfortable when Lily introduced him as her boyfriend but then I was happy at least he can leave me alone and give up on me, but no, he’s using her to get me which is so crazy, Winifred said.

 

“Your first love broke up with you for no just reason, Lily boyfriend went into thin air without no reason, Duke died in a strange way too and i was also warned and attacked, but in all of this Joseph has been around. Indeed you’ve not been happy loving another apart from him, Is there some kind of connection or what? Oliver asked.

“Honestly I don’t know, Lily boyfriend said Joseph is more than a viper, that word is powerful you know, she said.

“Its alright, I want you to pretend and act cool. I’ll take care of this okay, Oliver said touching her.

“I can’t help to get worried now, nothing should happen to you okay, Winifred said.

 

“Why? Is that how much you care about me? He asked.

“Am only concerned, she replied.

“That’s a sign of affection you know, He said smiling.

‘Its not what you’re thinking please, she said.

“Because you’re not ready? Don’t worry I’ll hang around like Joseph, He said and she scoffed.

“That’s not funny you know, she said.

“Am serious, but if you eventually choose another I’ll be so happy for you, Oliver said.

 

“Ermm i only came to say hello, I have to go now, Winifred said.

“I’ll meet with you later, thanks for coming, Oliver said and hugged her…….

 

Leaving the hospital Winifred phone began to ring, “hi done with your boyfriend? She asked.

“You’re not in school why? Lily asked.

“Acting like you care, anyway am going back to school, Winifred replied.

“Whatever, Lily said and dropped the call.
