Jennifer Godwin

Jennifer Godwin is a young beautiful writer with a beautiful personality. She’s the author of many works including Mended Hearts, Matrimony Of Secrets and Inheritance. On 30, July 2019. We had a special interview with her on our WhatsApp Platform. It was an exciting time and here are details of the interview:

YCC: May we meet you?

Jennifer: My name is Jennifer Godwin Ifunanya, I’m from Isiala Mbano L.G.A in Imo state, I am a student of Imo State University, studying Political Science.

YCC: What is your best childhood memory?

Jennifer: About that, my best childhood memory was when my mom took me to her sister’s house for holiday, the kids in the compound really made me feel loved, and when it was time to go, I cried and didn’t want to leave.
I grew up in an environment where people stay on their own, you know that type of lifestyle, so when the opportunity came, I didn’t want to let go.

YCC: If you were given a chance for a ‘do -over’ in life, what would you do differently?

Jennifer: I will want to do something that would make a lot of people happy.

YCC: So in that sense, you’ve never done what makes people happy?

Jennifer: Like in the past, I met lots of people that needed help in one way or the other, but because I wasn’t opportuned to help due to many reasons.
I only wish I could turn back the hands of time, help them and make them happy.

YCC: Tell us about your love life. Are you in a relationship? Or you’re married already?

Jennifer: *Laughs* I’m not yet married, and my love life is kind of complicated, I don’t know if I am in a relationship or not.

YCC: Anything we need to know about it?

Jennifer: Okay, let’s just say I’m having a little issue with my boyfriend, so, I don’t know if we are gonna make up or not, that’s why it is complicated.

YCC: So how did you meet him in the first place, what got you attracted?

Jennifer: Uuuum, we met in his house, I went to see my Aunt, and then boom, I saw him. he is my in-law, scratch that, his elder brother got married to my Aunt, he is still my in-law right?

YCC: *Smiles* Yeah

Jennifer: What attracted me to him was his physique and dressing.

YCC: So what’s your perception on love and sex? Do they relate? Is sex an expression of love?

Jennifer: Naaaaah, they are different and they play different roles too.
Someone can have sex with someone he or she is not in love with.

YCC: So, what moment has been the most defining moment in your life?

Jennifer: I have many defining moments actually.
On the day I wrote my UTME, I was told to leave the environment because they couldn’t find my details, while everyone else wrote their exam, I stayed outside hoping for a miracle, 20 minutes to the end of the examination, I was called in, that my details had been found.

**FIVE MINUTES BREAK**

YCC: How and when did you start writing? What inspired you to start?

Jennifer: I started writing when I was in secondary School.
My inspiration came from a woman in the neighborhood, she didn’t give birth to a male child then, her in-laws came to throw her out.

YCC: Ooouch, So sad, impatience is never a good thing from onset

YCC: When you write, do you just write out of wanting to, or you write because you want to pass a message across? And do you ever intend to publish or take your books further?

Jennifer: Yea, I would want to publish them if I get the cash.
I write to pass message across as well, let people learn from them.

YCC: Which writer inspires you greatly, that you look forward to being like, and which writer do you wish to work with?

Jennifer: Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. The writer of purple hibiscus.
I wish to work with her as well.

YCC: What are your greatest fears?

Jennifer: The fear of not been financially okay in future.
Of not being in a position to help many people.

YCC: Jennifer if you were elected the president of Nigeria, what would be the first thing you would do?

Jennifer: Start up with projects in all the states in the country that would provide employments to people and according to their qualification.

YCC: Seems your plan would only favour those that have qualifications. What about those that doesn’t have.
Like those that weren’t opportune to have education or something, what would be their fate?

Jennifer: That was why I said according to their qualifications, it doesn’t really mean only the educated ones. Uneducated people still have qualification, as in what they can do.

YCC: So what do you think about the seemingly increasing rate of suicide? How do you think it can be stopped?

Jennifer: Reaching out to people.
Some people might look okay on the outside but very broken inside.
We should learn to check up on people constantly.
Not only when we notice anything odd about them. We only get to know about their problems when we talk to them.

YCC: That’s just one of the primary cause of it.
People not checking up on others.
And I perceive that some people who puts on smiling faces or masks outside are broken inside, what message are they trying to pass? Are they saying people shouldn’t check up on them?
Why exactly is it that they need help but they’ll prefer to mask their worries with a smiling mask?
What should be done about them too?

Jennifer: Sometimes it is not intentionally done, some people are raised on survival, no matter what they pass through, they will want to handle the situation themselves.
If you are close to someone, you will know when they person is sad or not, no matter how hard they try to cover up, just reach out and ask questions.

YCC: This is overly true. Some people find it hard or they don’t want to become liabilities to others

Jennifer: Yes, exactly my point.

AUDIENCE WITH JENNIFER

Audience: What is your view on the ongoing tv program… BBN

Jennifer: In my opinion, I think it should be banned, we don’t learn anything inspiring, morally and innovating from it.
They go about naked, showing off their body to the public. Some even go as far as having sex in the house which is appalling.

Audience: Jennifer, as a lady which you are, can you send money to a guy you’ve not met before in the name of love?

Jennifer: It depends on what he needs the money for, if it is something important and I have the money too, I won’t mind sending it to him.

Audience: What would you be physically to people who get to know you through your work?

Jennifer: Someone good and nice. Someone you wouldn’t want to loose even as a friend because of the inspirations you get from me.

Audience: I believe you are a christian, do you believe in sex before or after marriage?

Jennifer: I actually believe in sex after marriage, as written in the Bible.
But in this our generation, youths go contrary to what the Bible said, but, am not in the right position to judge.

Jennifer: That will be Wizkid. I’m his biggest fan
