Author’s Guidelines

To make submission stress-free for you, we have come up with this guide for authors.

The Youngicee Novel platform supports stories of different genres and kinds. We have a community of thousands of readers from Africa and beyond ready to read well-written stories. Hence, we have provided this guide to help you post correctly on our website.

Here is a general guide to posting your story

  1. Visit our submission page

You can do this on mobile or PC. For mobile devices, we recommend that you use Google Chrome browser. Before posting, make sure you read our Author’s Agreement

  1. Fill in your details

Enter your name, email address, post title, and answer the antispam question

Make sure your email address is filled correctly as we may try to contact you

  1. Choose a category

Click on the category dropdown menu.

If you’re posting a novel for the first time, choose the category “Guest Stories”. If it is a poem, choose “Guest Poems”, and article “Guest Articles”

For novel authors, your story will be reviewed after you submit a minimum of 3 chapters (at least 600 words each). The review is usually done within 3 to 7 days.

If you followed the submission guidelines properly, your story will be approved after the review. A category will then be created for that particular story. Therefore, when posting subsequent chapters, check out the title of your story in the category menu. You will no longer have to choose “Guest Stories” as your category.

  1. Post your story in the writing box

We recommend that you edit your chapter in a word processor such as MS Word or WPS Office before posting. However, you still need to double-check after copying and pasting into the writing box.

Use the formatting tools (bold, italics, etc) only when necessary. The website receives a lot of guest posts and those not formatted properly may be ignored by the admin.

  1. Upload your Image

Make sure a novel cover art is what you upload. Don?t upload a picture of yourself or something unrelated to the story

When posting a series, only upload the story cover picture once. Do not reupload the picture for subsequent chapters. You can add other images if you’re describing something else in the post.

  1. Submit Post

Click on “Submit Post”

Once you do this, you will get a message confirming your submission. Then, you have to wait for the admin’s review and approval within 3 to 7 days.

Remember, for Novels, you have to make 3 or more posts (that is, at least 3 chapters of your story in separate posts, excluding the prologue) to qualify for a review. For short stories with no chapters, your post will be reviewed and approved/rejected within 3 days.

Due to the high volume of requests we get, we may not be able to send you a message to notify you if your story was approved or not. If you’re confident that you followed the submission guidelines properly, you can send us a follow-up message.

Tips to make your story accepted by the blog and the readers

If your story is posted properly, you stand the chance of getting the attention of an editor easily. This will result in your story being promoted to our readers. And if your story attracts the attention of many readers, you may get some benefits from the team.

Here are some tips

  1. Proofread your work

Make sure your book is well proofread and remove all errors before submitting. These include both grammar and spelling errors.

Also, make proper use of paragraphs to break your story. When you don?t use paragraphs properly, it makes your book look unnecessarily long and boring. We?re quite sure you don?t want to bore your readers

  1. Use proper Titling

When you post with correct titling, the neatness helps people notice your stories easily.

For example,

Correct titling

Until Death Do Us Part – Episode 1

Until Death Do Us Part – Episode 2

Until Death Do Us Part – Episode 3

Incorrect titling

Until death do us part episode 1

until death do us part episode 2

until Death DO US PART episode 3

  1. Avoid giving unnecessary information on your title.

Your title should stand alone. Whenever you’re titling your book, always make sure that only the theme of your book and the episode or chapter number is contained in the title. Avoid things like “UNEDITED” , “EDITED”, “SHE?S RUDE”.

For example, the following should be avoided

Until Death Do Us Part ? Episode 3 (UNEDITED)

The Arrogant Maid (SHE?S RUDE)

That additional information should be contained in the post.

  1. Avoid using emojis on your title and reduce them in posts

Using emojis on your title makes your title jampacked, less attractive, and not tempting to read. As much as you can, avoid using such.

  1. Separate additional notes

Make sure that whenever you’re addressing your reader, such text should be separated from the body of the book.

For example, if you want to address them about an unedited episode, you should make sure it is separated from the text, probably should even be in italics

  1. Your first title should follow and tally with the subsequent ones

For example:

Correct Usage:

Until Death Do Us Part – Episode 1

Until Death Do Us Part – Episode 1

Correct Usage:

Until Death Do Us Part – Chapter 1

Until Death Do Us Part – Chapter 2

Incorrect Usage:

Until Death Do Us Part – Episode One

Until Death Do Us Part – Episode 2

Until Death Do Us Part – Chapter Three

  1. Overall, make your story easy to read and understand.

Good luck and happy posting.
