FLASHBACK , 8 YEARS AGO AT THE LINCOLN’S MANSION~

 

Rosie, then 10 years old, was busy exploring the big compound, her curious eyes scanning every nook and cranny.

 

She loved playing hide-and-seek among the tall trees and lush gardens. As she ran past the fountain, she saw Evelyn, her mother, stepping out of the house.

 

“Annabelle! What are you doing outside?” Evelyn asked.

 

“I was getting bored inside already,I just came out to play” Rosie said.

 

“Go inside now,we are leaving soon anyway” Evelyn said, and Rosie reluctantly went in.

 

“Such a headache” she sighed. They actually came because today is a Sunday, and every Sunday, Fernando comes over here and he invites Evelyn too.

 

She went back inside, Fernando was having a chat with his dad and they looked quite serious.

 

“Mum,can I live here forever?” Rosie asked jokingly from the couch she’s lying on.

 

“Don’t be silly” Evelyn chuckled.

 

“Mrs Lincoln is looking for you,I think she wants you to help her with something in her room” Rosie said.

 

“Oh really,wait here okay? Once my boss is done ,we will head home” Evelyn said,and she left for Mrs Lincoln’s room.

 

Minutes later, Evelyn came back with Mrs Lincoln. Turned out that Rosie lied and the Rosie in question is nowhere to be found right now.

 

“Mum,I’m on my way home now” Fernando announced as he pecked his mum.

 

“Please sir,did you know where Annabelle went?” Evelyn asked looking around the living room.

 

“She must be outside,she loves playing outside a lot” Mrs Lincoln said, and they chuckled.

 

“That kid” Evelyn went to the compound to look for Rosie and screaming out her name.

 

“Annabelle come outside from your hiding now,we are going home or no ice cream” Evelyn threatened with her favourite dessert but there was no sign of Rosie and she became uneasy.

 

Fernando came out with his parents.

 

“Have you seen her?” Mr Lincoln asked looking concerned.

 

“No I can’t find her”

 

“Calm down,she will come out of her hiding soon” Fernando assured her since Rosie is always hiding and this isn’t the first time.

FLASHBACK ENDS

 

Rosie’s eyes widened in horror as her memories came flooding back. She let out a blood-curdling scream, her hands flying to her head as if to hold it together. Her nose began to bleed, a trickle of red liquid streaming down her lips as she collapsed to the ground.

 

“Ahhh!” she screamed, her voice echoing through the room. “No, no, no! Oh God, no!”

 

Everyone rushed to her side immediately, alarm etched on their faces.

 

“Annabelle, what’s wrong? What’s happening?”Evelyn asked in horror.

 

Rosie’s screams subsided into sobs, her body shaking uncontrollably as she rocked back and forth on the floor. Her memories had returned.

 

“I remember now,I remember everything now. I left the house that fateful day because I just felt like exploring the estate,that was my only plan. But then I witnessed a traumatising scene,a man was raping a young girl and then he caught me staring,I immediately took to my heels and I was hit hard by a car,that’s all I can remember” Rosie sniffed.

 

“Actually,the car that hit you was our car. We were coming back from a party, when you ran into us. We took you to the hospital immediately, but then the doctor said you’ve lost your memories and it will take a while. We should have found a way to bring you back to your parents even though it will be hard to find them, but we didn’t do that because we’ve always wished to have a female daughter. We flew out of the country and we came back to New York after 3 years” Mrs Smith explained.

 

“Do you know about this?” Rosie asked Daniel and he nodded slightly.

 

“Yeah,I was in the car with them that day. Do you hate us now?” He asked.

 

“Of course not!”

 

“Now that you know the truth now. Will you come to live with me?” Evelyn asked.

 

“No” Rosie objected immediately.

 

“Why? I’m your mum”

 

“That doesn’t mean I must live with you and from what I’ve heard about you from Mariana, you aren’t a good person” Rosie said and left the house.

9PM, FERNANDO’S MANSION ~

 

“There’s something I need to tell you” Fernando suddenly said and Mariana looked at him. They are currently cuddling in bed.

 

“What’s that?”

 

“I don’t want you to be mad at me either,it was something I think a lot time ago at high school”

 

“Just spill the beans already”she urged. Fernando took a breath before explaining everything to her and Mariana eyes widened.

 

“You did all that?!!”

 

“Calm down”

 

“Don’t f****ng tell me to calm down! You raped a girl to death along with your stupid friends”

 

“Trust me,I still regret it to now. Why I’m telling you this is because i saw the same girl today”

 

“The same Grace you raped to death with your friends?” Mariana asked and Fernando groaned.

 

“Stop saying that”

 

“No I will,I’m disappointed!”

 

“I’m sorry”

 

“Say that to the girl Instead” Mariana feigned annoyance.

 

“Okay let’s forget that a bit,you said you saw her today”

 

“Exactly! It’s still baffling me”

 

“So if you didn’t saw her today,you won’t have bothered to tell me?”

 

“I’m sorry”

 

“Keep your sorry to yourself!” She left the room angrily and Fernando sighed.

MATT’S PLACE~

 

The front door bell suddenly rang and Matt went to open it since he’s expecting someone,there stood Blondie standing at the door in her white tank top and mini skirt.

 

“You came!” He exclaimed before letting her in.

 

“There was nothing I was doing at home anyway” she said.

 

“I’m glad you did”

 

Matt and Blondie walked into the living room, and Matt offered her a seat on the couch.

 

“Your place is really nice, by the way.”

 

“Thanks, I try to keep it tidy,” Matt said with a chuckle.

 

“So, what do you like to do for fun?”

 

“I just wanna talk nothing else”

 

“Okay cool”he said and there was silence.

 

Matt suddenly found himself leaning in closer to Blondie, his eyes locked on hers.

 

Slowly, he moved in closer, his heart pounding in his chest. Blondie’s eyes never left his too. But just as their lips were about to meet, Blondie suddenly stood up.

 

“Hey, Matt, I should probably get going” she said awkwardly.

 

“Thanks for your invite, though. It was really nice seeing you.”

 

Matt was taken aback, feeling a pang of disappointment.

 

“Oh, okay” he said, trying to hide his frustration.

 

“Yeah, no problem. I’ll walk you out.”

 

As they walked to the door, Matt couldn’t help but wonder what had just happened. Had he misread the situation entirely? Or was Blondie just playing hard to get?

 

Just as Matt was about to close the door, Blondie suddenly turned back and rushed towards him. Matt’s eyes widened in surprise as Blondie wrapped her arms around him and pressed her lips to his.

 

Matt’s initial shock quickly gave way to excitement as he returned the kiss with equal passion. The sudden turn of events left him breathless, but he wasn’t complaining.

 

As they broke apart for a moment, Matt asked, “What changed your mind?”

 

Blondie smiled mischievously,”I couldn’t resist the charm of your smile”

 

“Well, I’m glad I could convince you without saying a word.”

 

Their lips met again, and this time, the kiss was even more intense.

 

“Matt I will like to tell you something. You know my step brother right?”

 

“Yeah you told me about him, Logan right?”

 

“Yeah, I’ve had a crush on him for a long time now,it’s just this recent I knew that he will never be mine so why waste my time? Besides, you’ve been too sweet to me and my heart can’t stop fluttering anytime I’m waiting you. I tried to ignore it but now I’m acknowledging it. You are a perfect gentleman, Matt” she said.

 

“I’m thrilled to hear this. I hope you aren’t using me to get over your step brother”

 

“I will never do that. You won my heart since that day at the restaurant”

 

“So what are we waiting for?” He asked smiling and she blushed away.

 

“I’m ready but I don’t know about you”

 

“Oh come on” he said before pulling her into another kiss and Blondie reciprocated.

TWO WEEKS LATER AT FERNANDO’S MANSION~

 

Since Mariana is done with her exams, it’s time for them to embark on the journey to Paris.

 

“I can’t wait!” Mariana screamed in elation.

 

“Me either,it will be so much fun”

 

“Enough of the chit chat,your flight will be leaving soon” Mrs Lincoln said as she walked in. She came back last week and decided to forgive her husband and let peace reign.

 

“Oh mother in law, there’s still more time” Mariana said.

 

“I will miss you”Mrs Lincoln hugged her.

 

“Hey what about me”Fernando feigned annoyance.

 

“I will not miss you,deal with it”

 

“It’s unfair” he whined.

 

“You will be back soon anyway, it’s just a two weeks holiday” Mrs Lincoln said.

 

Mr Lincoln came in with Rosie and they turned to them.

 

“Our Annabelle,my able sister in law” Mariana teased and Rosie rolled her eyes.

 

Evelyn told them last two weeks that she found Annabelle already, who turned out to be Rosie. Everyone was shocked except Mariana who suspected it all along. Mr Lincoln have been showering her with love since then, Mrs Lincoln have accepted with warm arms too, though it’s still awkward between her and Fernando.

 

“I will follow you guys to airport” Rosie said.

 

“Don’t bother about that” Fernando said and she pursed her lips.

 

“He didn’t mean it that way,he doesn’t want anyone to follow us so don’t stress yourself” Mariana said.

 

“It’s okay” Rosie left the room and everyone tuned to Fernando.

 

“Really?”

 

“What?” He asked back.

 

“She’s your sister,learn to love her” Mr Lincoln said.

 

“Step sister and I don’t mind at all ,it just that I hate the fact that Evelyn is her mother. That woman should be behind bars now,I told you what she did to me right?”

 

“Of course but let’s just overlook it for the sake of Rosie. I believe she won’t try any nonsense again and she if does,she won’t escape it this time” Mrs Lincoln said before leaving the room with her husband.

 

“What are you guys talking about without me?” Alicia asked as she walked her,her stomach bump already visible.

 

“Not until you tell us the guy you’ve been chatting with all night” Mariana and Fernando said in unison and she stood frozen, looking at them.

 

“So you guys have ganged up on me already”

 

“Big sis, who’s the guy? You can tell me”

 

“Not yet but very soon,I will be inviting him over” she said.

 

“Finally!”they exclaimed.

 

“You guys are weird”

 

“That’s why we are good together” Mariana said and they bumped fists.

 

“Oppression” This made them laugh, and Alicia rolled her eyes before walking out too.

 

“You still haven’t tell me anything about that Grace girl, have you confirmed it’s her?”

 

“Ion think it’s her,maybe the girl just looks like her” he shrugged.

FEW HOURS LATER~UNKNOWN LOCATION*

 

Mariana and Fernando’s eyes fluttered open, groggily taking in their surroundings and they found immediately. They found themselves in a dimly lit, damp room with stone walls and a cold, grey floor. They were sitting on chairs, their hands tied behind their backs.

 

“Where are we or is this Paris?” Mariana asked looking so confused.

 

“It’s like we’ve been kidnapped” Fernando said and Mariana gasped.

 

“OMG! How did it happen? I still remember that we were on our way to the airport before a car double crossed us and that was it”

 

“Fvck!” Fernando cursed.

 

They struggled to free themselves, but the ropes were too tight. Mariana’s eyes locked onto Fernando’s, fear and panic evident in her gaze.

 

The door suddenly creeped open and a figure stepped forward, revealing Leah and their eyes widened.

 

“Leah?” Fernando called out in shock and she smiled.

 

“Glad you still remember me” she smirked.

 

“Why are we here? Release us now!” Mariana demanded.

 

“In your wildest dreams,we are just starting”

 

“What do you want?” Fernando asked.

 

“Smart boy,good question. It’s actually simple,it’s you I want”

 

“Haven’t I made it clear? I don’t want you”

 

“I know and that’s why I’m doing this baby”

 

The door creaked open again and Grace entered, Fernando eyes widened again.

 

“Long time no see, Fernando” Grace said giving a sinister smile.

 

“Grace thanks for working with me. Grace here, have been stalking you guys for a while now and you never noticed,that’s to show how good she is. She told me about your trip to Paris and that was how we could get you guys here today to hatch our plan ”

 

“I know you have lot of questions for me but I don’t have that to explain that but what you need to know is that,I never died and Donovan doesn’t know about me still alive ” Grace said.

 

“Why are you doing this?” Fernando asked her but she didn’t reply.

 

“Old b***h,get in here!” Leah called out someone and Evelyn came in too and they looked shocked.

 

“She’s also part of people who worked with me. I decided to work with her seeing how much she detests you and badly wanna get rid of you to get the family’s company. She’s desperate like me”

 

Mariana just kept looking at them without saying anything. Will her saying something, change anything?

 

“It’s time to ki*ll him now. I want my daughter to be the only one to inherit the Lincoln’s properties” Evelyn said greedily and Leah laughed.

 

“Guess what? I lied. I only used you because I’m not killing him,sorry”

 

“What!? It’s part of our deal,I helped you out because you said you are getting him killed” Evelyn argued.

 

“Argue with your ancestors” Leah brought our her gun.

 

Leah’s gun was steady, her eyes fixed on Evelyn’s shocked face. With a calm and calculated movement, she pulled the trigger. A loud bang echoed through the room, and a bullet pierced Evelyn’s skull, striking her right between the eyes. Her body crumpled to the ground, a pool of blood rapidly spreading from the wound.

 

Mariana and Fernando watched in horror, their eyes fixed on the gruesome scene unfolding before them. The room fell silent, the only sound was the heavy breathing of the three remaining individuals.

 

Leah lowered her gun, a satisfied smile spreading across her face.

 

“That’s what happens when you try to double-cross me” she smirked.

 

Grace stood beside her, a look of indifference on her face, as if she was merely a bystander.

 

Leah’s gaze shifted to Fernando and Mariana.

 

“Now, let’s get back to business” she said.

 

“You love her right?” She asked.

 

“Why are you asking me this?”

 

“Just answer my damn question!”

 

“Of course I love my wife,got a problem with that?”

 

“No but there will soon be a problem. Fernando,it either I ki*ll your wife right here and right now with the stupid pregnancy in her, or you agree to marry me, and take Liam as your loving child” their eyes widened.

 

“What!?”

 

“Deal or nah?”
