{Natalia’s Past}

“Nathaniel” Rose muttered

Nathaniel removed the oxygen mask from his nose before he sat up, holding his head which hurt like cràzy.

“W.. Where I’m I?” He stuttered.

Rose immediately rushed to him and held his shoulder, checking him out..

“Nathan,, are you okay.. Thank goodness you’re awake” Rose said.

Nathaniel looked at her for awhile.

“Who is this Nathaniel you’re talking about?” He said.

“Huh?” Rose’s eyes widened..

“You.. You’re Nathaniel” Rose said.

“Have I seen you before? Wait where I’m I? Who’s this Nathaniel you keep talking about…” Nathaniel said.

“Looks like he’s awake huh?” Natalia muttered, standing by the door post.

“Sister” Rose turned to her.

Natalia walked to them and touched Nathaniel’s forehead.

“Your temperature is finally back to normal..” Natalia smiled.

“Looks like he lost his memory” Rose said sadly..

“Really?” Natalia glanced at Rose before looking at Nathaniel.

“Hi there, my name is Natalia and your name is Nathaniel.. We’ve been lovers since we were small but unfortunately I’m older than you so our family were against-”

“Lia!!” Rose smacked her head and she laughed..

“Relax,, I was just joking” Natalia laughed.

“My.. My name is Nathaniel?” Nathaniel said, blinking innocently and Rose nodded.

Natalia sat down on the bed next to Nathaniel..

“Rose, can you go and prepare dinner.. I need to check up on him,,, privately” Natalia said.

“Why privately??” Rose said suspiciously.

“Just go already..” Natalia groaned.

“You better don’t try to seduce him, I don’t trust you” Rose muttered before leaving, closing the door behind her.

Natalia chuckled before she brought out a cigarette with a lighter. She lit it and began smoking..

“Acting doesn’t suit you,,, yunno” Natalia said as the smoke came out of her mouth.

“How did you know I was pretending” Nathaniel said and looked at her.

“I’m an assassin, I’ve been doing since I was young.. I can clearly tell who’s lying or not just by looking into their eyes” Natalia smiled and looked at him.

“You have alot of questions to ask me right?” Natalia said and Nathaniel nodded.

“Why did you wanted to kíll I and Arianna.. Why did you ended up saving me?” Nathaniel asked.

Natalia smiled and looked front, bringing her cigarette to her lips.

FLASHBACK, AUTHOR’S POV**

The day Natalia mistakenly bumped on Nathaniel when he was about putting on his facemask, if you can remember… Michael saw Primrose and went after her.

Primrose upon seeing Natalia with Nathaniel was surprised and also scared for she knew that means Nathaniel is her next target.

Once Rose got home, she confronted Natalia who admitted that Nathaniel is her next target. Rose began begging her sister to reconsider this mission because she knows Natalia, she never misses her target.

Natalia paid deaf ear and went to execute her mission. As planned she tampered with the Nathaniel’s car brake and she killed the driver of the truck before disguising as him..

Once her plans executed, she called her boss to tell him he did her mission well. After the call she began hearing someone call for help at the edge of the bridge.

Natalia walked there and to her surprise, she saw Nathaniel holding on to the railings with his body dangling beneath a deep valley

(Only the car exploded)

Nathaniel looked up at Natalia’s cold eyes and begged her to save him. Unfortunately, Natalia brought out her gun and aimed it at him.

She made to pull the trigger but Rose’s begging kept echoing into her ears. Without thinking, she stretched her hand to help Nathaniel but unfortunately, Nathaniel lost his grip on the edge of the bridge and began falling.

“No!!” Natalia screamed and took a road leading to the bottom of the valley.

When she arrived there, she met Nathaniel laying on his own pool of blood. His whole body was badly bruised and he head was bleeding badly.

She walked to him thinking that he already déath but miraculously, his pulse was still beating faintly.

“Who will survive a fall like this?” Natalia thought, looking so shocked.

She lifted him and went back up to the surface with him then she burnt the dead corpse of the truck driver and removed the bracelet Nathaniel was putting on then wore it on the corpse before dumping it in the valley.

Since she can’t take him to a hospital, she took him to their house and with the money her boss paid her for the job, she bought the medical equipment needed for Nathaniel’s treatment and with Rose’s help they treated him for the one week he was unconscious

Actually, Rose was following Michael not because she was jealous but because she wanted to make sure the person who paid her sister to ki*ll Nathaniel doesn’t mistake Michael for Nathaniel and want to ki*ll him.

Also because she felt guilty.. Her sister was the reason Nathaniel almost lost her life and she doubt Michael will forgive him if he finds out..

BACK TO PRESENT**

“That’s what happened… If you wanna thank someone, thank Rose.. It’s because of her that you’re alive” Natalia concluded.

“I see.. What of my family?” Nathaniel asked.

Now that he thinks about it,, all his friend and family but be grieving thinking he’s déath and Arianna-

“I need to go back to them” Nathaniel immediately stood up to leave.

Natalia caught his wrist

“You can’t leave this place..” Natalia said.

“But why?? My family must be so heartbroken!!” Nathaniel raised his voice.

“That’s exactly why you shouldn’t leave!” Natalia raised her voice too.

“Huh?”

“You asked me why I wanted to ki*ll you right? Well the person who hired me to kíll you was none other than Noelle” Natalia said

All colors immediately drained from Nathaniel’s face..

“Noelle? Why?” He stuttered, his heart getting heavy.

“I don’t know why.. Only my boss knows why, I’ll ask him tomorrow but till everything is settled you need to stay here.. We don’t know how many enemies you have” Natalia said.

Nathaniel nodded and sat back down, his thought so messed up. Why will Noelle upon all people want to harm her? Why? Thought she was supposed to be her mother?

His thought was broke short when Natalia ran her hand through his bare chest. He turned to her

“You know, you’re definitely my type of guy” Natalia whispered to his ear.

“Why don’t we have some fun while we wait for Rose to finish dinner” She said, leaning for his lips.

Nathaniel held her shoulder, stopping her from coming closer.

“I have a fiancé.. And I love her so much” Nathaniel said.

“But it’s just a kiss.” Natalia bit her lips s*xily.

“The last time I kissed another girl, she almost drank poison. I would never do that mistake twice” Nathaniel replied.

Natalia looked at him for a while and smiled before patting his back.

“You’re a loyal guy,, good job. If you weren’t engaged I could have asked you to date my sister” Natalia said.

“She was just testing me??” Nathaniel wondered and looked at her.

“I was wondering.. You smile a lot but why is that smile so insincere” Nathaniel said

Natalia’s smile fell.

“You think so?” She asked and Nathaniel nodded.

Natalia looked down and smiled sadly.. Slowly tears began falling from her eyes

“Nata-”

She broke down in tears before Nathaniel could speak, shocking Nathaniel even more.

Rose who was coming at that moment to inform them that dinner was ready stopped when she heard cries. She began eavesdropping on them.

“What is wrong?” Nathaniel asked.

“It’s just so hard to keep it in,, always pretending you’re fine and that nothing bothers you when deep down you aren’t” Natalia shook her head in tears..

She looked at her hands and smiled as tears kept falling from her hand.

“This hands has touched and done alot of cruel things. Sometimes I wake up and I look at myself in the mirror then I feel kílling myself but I just can’t leave Rose behind, I’m her only family.. She’s the reason why I still live” Natalia cried.

She sniffed in and looked up at the ceiling.

“When I was 8, Rose was just a year old… My father was killed by robbers. He díed in my arms, I can still remember it like it happened yesterday.. The only shelter we had was our mother but she abandoned us to some men and went to build another family. She completely abandoned us to those cruel men without blinking, she sold us!!” Natalia screamed with nothing but rage in her eyes.

“At a tender age when I was supposed to be enjoying my childhood like kids of my age, I began striving hard to protect my sister. Those men will always hit me when I misbehaved. They began forcing me to do things like stealing, poisoning people.. Short I became a weapon for them. At the age of 11, I experience something that I wish no child should experience,, they raped me..” Natalia broke down in tears.

Nathaniel immediately pulled her closer for a hug.

“They ràped me!! They didn’t even had any sympathy that I was a child they..they” Natalia choked on her word as tears couldn’t help continued.

“I’m sorry..” Nathaniel patted her shoulder.

Natalia shook her head and broke the hug.

“That day, I vowed that I’ll take revenge and that’ll begin with the reason I ended up that way,, my mother. I poisoned them then ran away with Rose. We went to the orphanage and began living there till I was 16 and then I met my boss. He took me in and trained me to become an assassin. After two years of training, I became unstoppable.. And then I went after her,, I killed my mother, I killed her and her new family… I slaughtered them all without mercy!!” Natalia laughed while crying. Someone who will see her will think she has gone màd.

“Nobody cared about us,, nobody lended us a helping hand so why should I do so? The only person who did was Rose.. and that’s why I vowed to dedicate my whole life for her to be better person, a better person I Will never be. If being the bad guy in the story means Rose won’t have to go what I went through then I don’t mind.. I will..” Natalia cried.

She looked at Nathaniel with teary eyes..

“Yunno my dream has always been to become a doctor. I’m I cursed? Why can’t I have a happily ever after like all the books I’ve read” Natalia cried.

Nathaniel just hugged her again, fighting back his tears..

“Life is just like a game of dice.. Sometimes it’s fair, sometimes it’s not” Nathaniel said.

Rose who was leaning on the door couldn’t stop her tears frome flowing down her eyes.

Her sister did all that for her?? Her whole life she has always been ashamed of Natalia

She immediately ran to her room in tears.

**

LATER**

Nathaniel gently placed Natalia’s head on the bed before standing. Well she cried till she fell asleep in his arms.

“I’m hungry” He pouted, rubbing his tummy.

He slowly began walking out of the room while holding his bandaged tummy.

“Can’t believe I fell into that deep valley and I’m still alive.. I must be immortal” He muttered and walked in the living room.

He smiled when he perceived the delicious aroma coming from the dining table.

“Where’s Rose?” He thought but waved it off and sat down.

He dished himself and began eating when he heard a door knock.

“Is Rose sleeping?” He thought, eating and the door knock came up again..

“Can’t that person leave?” He groaned and stood up then walked to the door.

He held the doorknob, pondering on whether to open the door or not but later, his stubborn side took over and he opened it.

“Good evening. I’m here to return Rose’s phone, she-” Michael posed at who he saw.

The phone fell from his hand as his body began trembling.

Nathaniel stared at him too with shocked eyes but he later smiled.

“Dummy” He said, tears welling up in his eyes.
