Chapter 89

(Don’t tempt a god)

Lazarus’ POV

Loud voices of sorrow and pain could be heard from afar off as I appeared at the outskirt of the kingdom. The whole place has been burnt down to the ground, with fog of smoke oozing around, causing a disastrous pollution.

What will be the cause of this? Is this the hand work of Megan or what? I thought, looking around. No, it’s can’t be, then I will have to find out for myself. I will just start from the dungeon; I don’t need Hunter’s permission to release my sister and friends. I know that Logan would have also been captured, Hunter’s doom is near.

Breathing out a sigh of victory, I imagined the dungeon and found myself teleporting to the location. Now I know what caused the hazard, there is a war going on. A war hasn’t occurred in Vampic fall ever since he was born. Orpheus’s reign was perfect and faultless, but Hunter just proved useless in the royal game.

Dungeon~~
“Get us all out of here…the enemies are about breaking in” Logan yelled at the guards in charge of guarding the dungeon.

“Arghhh” Celeste screamed as she pulled the cage bars with her strength. The warriors of Ricadua have entered fully into the city, destroying anything they lay their hands upon; and at the same time trying to break into the palace from a discreet place in order to fulfill their king’ wish; which is to bring Hunter to him.

The entrance of the palace is heavily guarded at the Vampic fall warriors are being an obstacle to carry out their desired plan. They couldn’t force their way through into the palace, so some of them split, going round the large castle looking for easier entrance, while fighting off their opponents.

The large wall of the dungeon was an easy way to break in. The walls were forcefully hits with heavy harmers causing dusts to fall off the old stony bricks. It wasn’t hard to break the wall but with persistent hitting, it began to crumble.

“sh*t….get us out of here” Celeste yelled, banging her fist on the iron bars, which is hard to pull off. They were all placed in separate cages, unlike before when it was juts Arthur and Celeste. This part of the dungeon is the deepest and darkest part.

Other prisoners has been moved except them
“What the hell are you waiting for…free us from here..the enemies are gonna get us” Arthur snapped.

“Will you all shut the f**k up, we haven’t been given order from the king..so you sit and stop shouting, the walls are strong, it can’t be fallen…”

“Arghh” They all yelled as one of the blocks fell off to the ground. They could hear a loud cheering among the warriors as they congratulate the one who had made that success. It wasn’t hard to push off the other blocks since a space has been created.

The trio began to change into their vampire form, ready to attack

“Stay down you all..” the chief guard yelled signaling his comrade to come with him. About five more warriors came down to join him and the other two; they held their weapons firmly, also bringing out their claws.

“We have to stay together, and fight together…they ain’t a match for us” Celeste ordered, using a commanding aura. Logan was force to let out a quick smile at her level of confident. They wouldn’t have to tell him, he could sense a royal blood in her.

The guards drew closer to the almost broken wall, keeping a safe distance to avoid the blocks from falling on their heads.

“The prisoners must not leave” Their commander yelled, as some guards went to guard the cages, but the trios were not concerned about their presence. All they want is to drain the bloods of those intruders.

And at the last tick of the clock, the wall came crumbling to the bare earth. The Ricadua warriors yelled a shout of victory, rushing into the dungeon’s cave, slitting the throats of their opponent before they could say Jack.

The fight commenced and in a matter of seconds, the whole Vampic warriors in the dungeon were down. Their bloods were drained off in a matter of minutes, as their opponent enjoyed every bit of blood they suck in, biting deeply into their necks.

Celeste and the others watched them commits their evil acts. Their cages were perfectly locked, but the enemies might break it of using the wall hammer. Just then, one of the warriors, stood up after dropping the lifeless vampire whose blood has been drained to the ground.

He wiped his lips, wearing a wicked grin, as he takes gentle strides towards their cages. He looked at their faces staring from Celeste to Arthur, and when his eyes landed on Logan, he frown, which changed to a smirk.

He busted out in laughter, calling on the others to join him. They came closer and saw what he was laughing about, joining him in it. Celeste and Arthur were confused, but Logan knows the purpose of their mockery.

He folded his fist in anger, watching them with an angry look. The man that started the hilarious acts is no one but Achan, best warrior in Ricadua, his rival and worst enemy.

“Well..well…your highness..don’t tell me that your life is always filled with bad luck” Achan stated with a smirk, holding unto the bars of the cage. His mouth was still stained with blood as he revealed his ugly brown fangs

“Your..highness..” Celeste was forced to whispered, giving Logan a puzzled look. He didn’t spare her a glance but simply scoffed at Achan’s words

“A bas***d, runaway, cast out, banished and lastly a prisoner…isn’t that much of a bad luck” Achan mocked; his comrade laughed out, holding their chest. Logan growled out loudly in anger, banging his fist on the bar which wouldn’t bulge.

He felt like tearing them out of their skin, the laughter increased, and just as Achan signaled the man with the hammer to hit it on the cage, breaking its bars; a heavy force blew him off, pushing him into the wall, as he got molded in it, alongside the hammer; he gave his last breath.

The others were frightened, they haven’t experienced magic in their kingdom as vampires, only Vampic fall was opportune to learn magic before the great war that separate the witches from vampires. The ones who learnt magic were able to teach the other generations that had the interest of learning, while other vampire kingdoms couldn’t get the chance to.

Magic is one of the dreaded things they desire to have, as it portrays strength to attack without being close. Their whole sense rose up; being alert, as they look around to see where the power came from. They couldn’t see the being but could feel the presence of something strong in their midst.

Two more fell to the round and died mysteriously without being touched, the others began to bleed through every opening in their body, groaning in severe pains before giving up ghost, remaining Achan.

His legs wobbled as he turned round to avoid being hit. The other trio also couldn’t fathom the happenings, but they were sure that the person doing this is on their side.

“Show yourself…stop being a coward using magic and fight me claws for claws” Achan yelled on top of his voice. A loud chuckle was heard, as a man appeared behind him, wearing a black cloak and hoodie which covered half of his face.

“I don’t need to fight an already dead man” Lazarus voiced out in a husky voice. Celeste smiled out in relief on seeing him

“He came back for us” She whispered to herself

“I will…arghhhhh” Achan groan, holding unto his neck. He could feel sharp object piercing into him from different angles while Lazarus remained in his position. He cried in pains for some time before going down to the ground.

The bars to the cage flung open after his last breathe; Celeste was the first to run out, she threw her arms across Lazarus shoulder’s hugging him to herself

“You came back for us….you really did brother” She stated, smiling. He felt a little pang of pain in his heart. She still refers to him as brother, after he had lied to her for many years. Very soon she will get to know who she really is, and her real brother.

He smiled kissing her forehead, before facing the other two. But they were acting a bit odd; they could feel this presence coming out of him which made them want to submit. He understood their plight and tapped their shoulders, bringing them out of their thought

“Buddy” Arthur muttered, giving him a side hug. Logan smiled at him with a curt nod
“You are now a god” He muttered
“A god…” Celeste asked, but her question was ignored

“We need to leave. I need to be at the throne room” Lazarus stated, he faced Celeste
“You will need to leave with Arthur and Logan….”
“No…we will stay here and fight with you…” She cut him short

“I want you to be safe…”

“I am already safe fighting for my kingdom…where else do you want me to go” She replied him
“She is right Lazarus…we will all fight off the enemies” Arthur replied. He heaves a sigh and looked at Logan

“Stay with him” he said, referring them to Logan. He believes he can protect them. “Take this, break it on the floor, it will take you anywhere. I will be back for you three” he gave her a little shell and vanished

“He is right…you both ain’t strong enough to fight those warriors, we have been in this cage for a long time, you need blood from a live source for strength…”

“Left for me…I don’t need that for strength…but I will do it for Arthur….come on..let’s leave”
She paused and turned to look at him

“What about you?” She asked

“You don’t need to worry about me…the enemies are my people…I only need the head of their king to end the war” he replied her

She nodded.

“Thanks for everything..” She hugged him goodbye, same as Arthur

“Take care bro” Arthur whispered. He nodded, as they patted their backs

Logan watched them leave, she had broken the shell and the smoke from it engulfed them, taking them into the spiritual realm of telepathy.

He walked out into the battle field, standing on a higher ground to view the whole kingdom and how bad it has been destroyed. He could see King Philip watching from afar on a horse. The cloud was already clearing up as the day began to dawn

“You won’t go back with our armies” he professed inwardly
~~~~~
Throne Room~~
“Haahaaha” Hunter laughed out, watching D’Arcy as he struggle to get off the ground; they have been fighting for nearly an hour, with not one of them backing out. D’Arcy wasn’t ready to surrender, neither is Hunter ready to use the trident on him.
He wanted to inflict pains on him, well, that was his thought, to make jest of his fighting skills.
But to his surprise, D’Arcy was actually good in fighting, which he never knew when he was trained. He is still having an upper hand because of the ring on his finger, which gives him strength and a faster speed to attack.
“You coward” D’Arcy spat, standing upright. Hunter smirked
“Who is the coward here if not you…bas***d..” he yelled charging at him again. He forced his claws into D’Arcy’s stomach but the latter was swift to summersault, diverting the claws into the hard walls. It gave a loud screech as it came in contact with the wall, hurting Hunter to his marrow. He groans in pains.
D’Arcy used the opportunity to strike him on his back, giving him a large scar, but it closed up immediately it opened. Normally, vampires wound don’t stay long to heal, especially when they want it to, but this is just too sudden. That was the power of the ring
D’Arcy was still in shock as to how it happened when Hunter turned round to give his a head cut, he fell to the ground on his stomach and was yet to get up when he felt a hand pulling him up and thrashing him against the wall. Hunter raised him up clawing his chest deeply
“The throne is never meant for you, and you will…never..have it” he roared, raising him up into the sky as fling him across the room, were he landed just beneath Lazarus feet, coughing out blood. He struggled to get up but waited for his wounds to heal up.
Hunter smiled walking to pull out the trident; he was yet to feel Lazarus’ presence. He kissed the trident, ready to ki*ll D’Arcy with it, but got his uttermost surprise on seeing another visitor in the room. He frowns
“This is not possible” he thought inwardly, his heart giving way to fear, as it pounds loudly across his chest
“No….it is…you were just too naïve to notice” Lazarus replied his unasked questioned.
“Did he just read my though “Hunter asked no one still inwardly
Lazarus smiled, pulling D’Arcy to his feet. He touched his neck and muttered a word, giving him strength to stand again
“Yes….i did..because your heart is like a book…in my hand” he stated, walking closer to the steps, while hunter looked down from above. He held the trident firmly like his life depends on it.
“The throne is mine…”Hunter barked in fury
“You have been sitting on it for a while…ain’t you tired already” Lazarus replied climbing the first step
“You bas***d…you break the oath, your pledge to serve”
“You banished me…you did break the oath…now surrender before it’s too late”
Hunter laughed out hieratically, fuming in anger. A loud blast was heard just outside the room, voice of dying vampires filled the air; the kingdom is already in ruins.
“They will win the war, if you don’t surrender”
“I have the possession of the trident, they will never win”
“The goddess is no more with you…the trident will no more…serve you…hand it over to the rightful owner” Lazarus yelled out, D’Arcy drew closer
Hunter shook his head.
“You have a last chance to surrender Hunter…just one last chance”
“I will never surrender what is mine” He roared and hits the trident to the ground, but instead of it to work like it has been doing, there wasn’t any effect from it. Hunter, puzzle, didn’t know what to do, he commanded it to ki*ll the duo and got a silent response.
Lazarus laughed at his ignorance. Hunter dropped the trident
“The trident is meant to obey a god…I have commanded it, so shall it be”
“But I am a god” Hunter yelled hitting his chest
“Can anything good come from Onyx…you were simply deceived and blinded by black magic, once a disciple cannot make the king a god, never will the ring do so. He only has the right to invoke the ring and make it serve you…he cannot make you a god”
“If the trident refused to serve me…then the ring of Enchante…will never do” Hunter bragged invoking the power of the ring as it blasted out in a flaming fire, almost consuming them. But Lazarus was swift to push D’Arcy backward, caging the power’s energy. He converted it into a ball, sending it back to Hunter.
It hits him bad, making him crash against the throne as they both crumble to the ground. He tried to get up but was cut short by Lazarus’ claws far longer than his, pushing it way into his chest, as his pumping heart was pulled out.
“Don’t tempt the power of a god” Lazarus whispered into Hunters ear as he gasps for breath. His heart was still in Lazarus’ palm. He looked at it, and then at Lazarus, placing it on D’Arcy. They maintained eye contacts for a while, as his standing body dropped to the ground, on his knees before giving his last breath.
