Not Another Love Story – Episode 31

NOT ANOTHER LOVE STORY

Episode – 31

#ALLAN
I had already played the escape plan in my mind countless times and in all of them, flawless would be an understatement. Now, this! This was far from what I anticipated, parked in some downtown bridge, hiding from preying eyes least one of them posts me on social media.

In short, things weren’t going my way at all. It had been an hour since I left Mwape’s place to seek refuge with the unknown. I imagined how tense Ivy must have been _ noticing that I couldn’t be reached since morning.

Call me the devil, but that guy is worse. The conversation that I had with Ivy last night at her parent’s place was one I could add to my memorable moments with her. It spout of authenticity, it was like this whole personality I had not known off had manifested.

“What’s gotten into you?” Was the sentence that Ivy repeated more than once while I spent what I considered my last time with her.

LUCAS – What’s the status?
ALLAN – An still at the hideout. Mwape hasn’t texted me yet.
LUCAS – Check on her. Am sure she’s making a plan.

“Is everything alright?” Mum asked.
“Yes. Why do you ask?” I nervously asked her. I had a thousand scenarios playing in my head and most of them involved me getting caught.
“Well, you look restless. You keep checking the window as if you are expecting someone.” Mum said. She could tell something was up but just didn’t know what exactly was going on.
“It’s Emily. I thought she would be here by now… She’s taking me out.” I said. This was the best I could do, warm up to the situation.

My all-purpose handbag was fully packed, the only cover I needed was Emily. The worst part about it was telling her that I agreed with Allan and was leaving with him.

“I’ve been waiting for you like forever…” I told Emily once she entered the house. I didn’t give her the chance to chit chat with mum; we walked straight to the bedroom.
“What’s going on?” She asked me, taking a sit on the bed.
“There is something I need to tell you and you need to promise not to tell anyone…” I said. She had that depressed look on her face as she eyed me.

Let’s just say things didn’t go as planned because Emily seemed to have read between the lines long ago.

“Don’t tell me you going to do it!” She sighed.
“Do what?”
“Don’t pretend to not know what am talking about. You, Allan _ there have already been rumours that he is nowhere to be found. You are running away with him ain’t you?” She questioned me.
“Shush! You being too loud. Keep your voice down.” I had to shut her mouth while I said those words. You know, action speaks louder than words.
She gave me a sign with her hands that she wouldn’t be a loudmouth and that was when I let go of her.
“I can’t believe you doing this,” She commented.
“I know right? I can’t believe am doing this as well.” I responded nervously.
“What excuse are you going to give Mum?” Emily asked me. She felt sorry for me, I could tell by the way she looked at me.

Am positive, if I was in her position I would love at myself the same way. I explained to her what my plan was, Chipo and Besa weren’t around _ thank goodness.

The plan went something like this, ‘I walk up to my mother and tell her that I was going out with Emily and would spend a night at her place. Since mum was all cranky that, the chances of her denying my request are high. That’s where Emily comes in… Her presence holds my words credible in front of my mother. Her words would be to preach against alcohol and anything that would bring harm to my pregnancy.’

Let’s just say the plan went something like that, it worked nonetheless.

MWAPE – Call me…

“Hey, baby. I’ve been waiting for your signal. Can I come?” Allan asked me.
“Sure, meet us in Villa, near the university,” I told him.
“What are you doing there?” I went to Emily’s place.

Oh, so _ the other part of the plan was for me to go to Emily’s place. Say hi to her parents and then head out. This was to make sure my lie of being at her place could be justified correctly. At least for the time being. The next victim of my genius idea was Limpo. Emily, one a Saturday morning would call my mother asking her if I returned home, stating that I left the restaurant with Limpo.’

“I thought this was supposed to be between the two of us?” Allan asked me.
“I know what we agreed on. Emily was the only way for me to leave the house. I already told you mum wasn’t delightful today.” I told him.
“Won’t she tell your mother?” He asked me. Shaking like a leaf.
“She won’t. We made a plan.” I assured him.

“Hello, mum… I don’t think Allan will be showing up for the wedding tomorrow. If you don’t mind, we can go on ahead as planned earlier.”

He might think he’s so smart, little does he know that am always a step ahead of him.

“Would you like more wine?” The waitress asked me.
“Sure, a full glass will do.” I smiled.
