NOT ANOTHER LOVE STORY

Episode – 16

#MWAPE
After the embarrassment that took play in the morning, I didn’t know if I wanted to continue Allan. I love him with every drop of blood in me, the Lord knows how much I want to be with him. However, ‘Is he willing to he Ivy or I would have to continue being a side chick for the rest of my life?’ I can’t do that.

“Mwape!” Emily called, making me jump from where I sat. “What are thinking about? we have a lot of tables today, snap out of it.” She scolded.
“Am sorry. I just have a lot on my mind.” I said.
“Did someone happen between you and Allan?” She asked handing me a notebook for the orders.
“So much has happened in a short period,” I responded.

Allan was a word-smith, he got me to believe that we could end up together eventually. At first, it sounded true but now after today, I can no longer take those words. The thought of having to share a man broke me. I couldn’t believe I was even entertaining such.

“Good afternoon Ma’am…” I said.
“Hello, we meet again.” I never paid attention to look at her face when I greeted her.
“I didn’t know you are a waitress,” Allan’s fiancé said with a devilish smile.
“What would you like to order?” I asked her. Ignoring her lousy comment.
“I knew Allan was lying, you aren’t an Interior Designer but for sleeping with my man… I swear you will pay for it.” She giggled.
“Are you going to order?” I asked her. I was trying my best to be professional and not cause trouble.
She placed the menu that she held on the table and left. She didn’t say anything, just a giggle.

An Interior Designer! What was Allan up to that he had to say such a thing?
Not only that, how in the heavens did she find me?

It wasn’t long and I was in called by the Manager.

“Afternoon, sir.” I greeted him as I walked in.
“Mwape! Take a sit _” He said warmly.
“Thank you.”
“Do you know why I’ve called you here?” He asked. Immediately an answer hit my head. But I didn’t tell him.
“I’ve called you here because there is a young lady that came to my office and made a lot of daring claims about you sleeping with her husband.” He told me.
“That lady, Ivy. Her father is a big character in the hotel logistic system and is one we as a company wouldn’t like to offend. I will brush it off this time around but if I get any complaints from that lady again I won’t be left with an option.” He told me.
“I understand. Thank you very much, Sir.” I said as I walked out.

“What did I tell you?” My manager called. He was pissed and pacing around the office.
“I’ve not done anything…” I told him.
“I don’t know what you have going on with that family. Am sorry Mwape, I have to let you go…” He told me.
“But… Sir!” I exclaimed.
“Hand in your badge. You should pack all your belongings, if you have anything in the locker make sure you empty it.” He said furiously.
“But… I’ve worked here for 2 years. Doesn’t that mean anything to you?” I asked him.
“I know… My hands are tired here. If I don’t fire you she’s going to make things difficult for the Hotel.” He said.
“What about my salary?” I ask, my whole world had suddenly crumbled.
“You don’t have to worry. I will make sure you get a month’s worth of pay.”
“Thank you so much…” I said wiping.

‘How on earth am I going to take care of my sister… how will I buy groceries for my family?’ I wiped my tears.

I found Emily waiting for me outside. I guess she had heard that I was called to the manager’s office twice in one day. She escorted me to get my things from the locker.

“You haven’t said anything to me and now you’ve just emptied your locker. What’s going on?” Emily asked Me.
“I was fired.”

She covered her mouth with her hand.

“Why?” She asked while escorting me out.
“Am sleeping with someone’s husband…” I said.
“Don’t tell me, Allan is married?” She exclaimed. “Wait, is it true? Are you sleeping with him?”
“No! what do you take me for?” I snapped. I could hear the other part of me screaming lier!
“I didn’t mean to upset you. what are you going to do now?” She asked me. Her worried face got me more worried.
“I don’t know. I just want to get home right now.” I answered.

By the time I arrived home, it was already 6 PM. Luckily mum wasn’t home yet. I still didn’t know how I was going to tell her that I got fired.
Her question would emphasize more on the ‘why I got fired’ and telling her that it was because am messing around with a man who is soon to be married just wasn’t a catch.

I tried calling Allan but his phone wasn’t going through, I left him a text message notifying him that I needed to talk to him.

The following day, Mum failed to ask me why I wasn’t going to work. Rather, she just kept looking at me weirdly.
I did the morning house chores, Besa had gone to school already by the time I woke up.
It was around 10 AM when I got a text from Allan. He said he would be at my place by 1 PM.

Around 1 PM he texted that he was outside, I got my chitenge _ tied it around my waist and got into some slippers and went to see him.
I opened the gate and he was just in the car busy on his phone. I opened the door and got in.

“Hi, baby…” He moved closer to kiss me.
“Don’t even go there. Is this how you planned things to be?” I asked him. From nowhere I just began sobbing.
“What are you talking about? What’s with the tears?” He tried wiping my tears but I whacked his hand off.
“It’s you and your so-called wife!”
“First of all, am not married. She ain’t my wife and secondly, I don’t know what you are talking about!” He said.
“Your wife got me fired. I don’t know how she did it but she found out where I work.” I told him.
“Let me talk to your Manager…” He said speedy. It was like he had an answer on the top of his hands for everything.
“Don’t! you’ve already done enough.” I yelled.
“Babe come on _ I will get your job back.” He said assuredly. He was slick with his words.
