NOT ANOTHER LOVE STORY

Episode 6

#ALLAN
Her smile was just out of this world. I got into my car and took deep breaths for a minute. My thoughts were running wild. I didn’t know if I had gone overboard by forcing her to get that money.
After I was done beating myself up, I drove off.

“Where are you coming from?” Ivy yelled.
“Good morning…”
“Don’t dare ignore my question. You left yesterday and this is your coming…” She asked.
“I was with the guys,” I responded. Ivy was a loudmouth, her talking was like an alarm going off _ irritating.
“With the guys? That’s all you have to say?” She asked furiously.
“What do you want me to say? That I was out with some girl having butt naked sex? You know me better.” I said. I pushed my way through as I walked in.
“If it’s food you wanted you could have just said it,” she said.
“And then what? It’s not like you can cook!” She was getting on my nerves and I didn’t like it.
“I would rather wait for lunch hour and go by Matebeto,” I added.
“That’s not fair Allan. Am really trying here…” Ivy said.
“Nevermind!” I signed.

When I got to the bedroom, she followed me there, “There is this new place… I was thinking we can go and dine there for the night.” Ivy said suggestively.
“Am not in the mood of going out today. I would rather be at home.”
“Come hun, I hear it’s nice.” She said.
“Let me just do something. Am not promising, but I will think about it.” I told her.
.
.
.
“How did you move?” I had called Lucas.
“I moved well. Baby mama came through.” He laughed, “How’s the lady of the house?”
“She’s okay. Just a little pissed that I didn’t come back home.” I told him.
“You didn’t go back home? Where did you sleep?”
“I booked a room.” I laughed.
“It’s that serious huh! What you gat planned for the day?” Lucas asked.
“I want to eat something…”
“She cooked?” He asked surprisingly.
“Hell no! Come on, you know Ivy can’t cook. I want to go to Matebeto.” I told him.
“Let me just have a bath. I will find you there.” Lucas said.

I called the lady at Matebeto _ since it was going to be lunchtime, tables were kind of tricky to get.

“Someone looks hungry. Wifey didn’t cook even today?” Anna asked.
Anna was Lucas’s baby mama.
“As if she ever cooks…” Lucas commented.
“Shut up! You two are supposed to be my therapy and not what you are doing.” I told them

We made our order, with bottles of Fanta we patiently waited to be served.

“I hear you didn’t go home,” Anna said. I gave Lucas the undertaker look.
“I was drunk!” I exclaimed.
“You just had a few glasses.” Lucas dropped in.
“But you could have called wifey to come and pick you up,” Anna said.
“Naah! Moreover, I wanted to see Mwape.” I said blushing.
“He can blush!” Anna teased looking at Lucas.
“Wait, the waitress? Dude! You were serious about her?” He said surprisingly.
“What waitress?” Anna asked.

Lucas went on to give me a short lecture about how I felt guilty for messing up her cake the day I first ran into her.

“There is no chemistry there. You just feel guilty.” He said finally.
Anna giggled.
“It’s your fault then, you keep feeding me with this nonsense about love.”

Oh! At this juncture, the food had already been served and we were digging in as the two of them made fun of me.

“I didn’t do anything. All I’ve been saying to you is that love is a beautiful thing when you find that one person.” He pecked Anna’s lips after that line.
“That’s gross. He has Lumanda (I don’t know what it’s called in English ?) stuck on his teeth.” I commented.
They laughed.

After we were done eating, we engaged in a conversation that wasn’t amounting to anything at all because the two of them were bullying me.
Anna decided to leave as she had a few commitments to attend to. Lucas and I went to a nearby Pub to watch soccer, we found the place was full and decided to just go to his place instead.
By the time the game was finishing, it was already 7 PM. I pulled my phone from the charger only to be greeted by 14 missed calls from Ivy.

“I think I need to go…” I said.
“Already?” Lucas nagged.
“Ivy might call mum or her father and you know how nasty things get when that happens,” I told him.
“Okay man, text me when you home.”
“Sharp my guy.”

On my way home, I passed through Pick N’ Pay but couldn’t find what I wanted. Hoping to find Shoprite open, I rushed there.

“Mwape!” I called out, “I was waiting for your call.” I smiled. I had not expected to run into her at all.
“I left my phone at home. We not allowed to work with phones anyway,” she said sharply.
“I knew you wouldn’t call. Let’s do this, give me your line and I will call you.” I suggested.
“I don’t know… I need to get a few things, I want to catch the last bus home.” She said warmly. There was just something about the way she spoke that calmed the beast in me.
“Let me drop you off when you done,”
“No thanks,” she responded.
“I insist…” She hesitated a bit and finally gave in.
“Okay. You can drop me off.” She said.

When we arrived at her place, I made sure to have my game on flick, I rushed to open the door for her.

“Thank you.” She said while facing down.
‘She’s facing down… Is she shy or something?’ I asked myself.

Tbc…
