Mara’s POV

«Hahaha…LAURA SAVE YOUR STRENGTH,THAT DOOR WON’T OPEN!! ELLEN BLAISE,YOU ARE TO BE PUNISHED FOR DISOBEYING ME» She said and stretched her staff to Ellen.

She fell to the floor shaking in pains.

“Quilah please!!” I pleaded..

«I WILL LEAVE YOU FOR NOW, BUT YOU WILL BE PUNISHED BEFORE I LEAVE» She said and released Ellen who sat up with a startled look.

Everyone was shaking in fear as she glanced at them one after the other.

«YOU ALL SHOULD SIT DOWN» She said but no one dare move.

“Liam you caused this” Bryan cried.
“I didn’t know she was gonna come” Liam said.
“Look at her wings…so scary” Laura cried gripping my arm.

«SIT DOWN!! DO YOU WANT ME TO HELP YOU SIT»

Ellen and i quickly sat down.
“Sit down” i whispered to them but they were shaken to sit.

Quilah raised her fingers and within the blinking of an eye they were all seated. I was not surprised but the rest gasped in shock excluding Ellen.

“Please don’t ki*ll us” Laura pleaded rubbing her palms together.
«SHUT UP! I’M NOT HERE TO ki*ll ANYONE,LIAM WESTON YOU MADE ME TO BE HERE,WHAT DID YOU WANT TO SAY TO ME»

“I didn’t know you will turn up,but i called you because i wanted to plead. Please don’t let me lose my sister” Liam said.
She laughed «I KNOW THEY’VE BOTH TOLD YOU EVERYTHING,I GRANTED HER WISH AND ITS HIGH TIME SHE PAID ME BACK»

“Please we are gonna give you any amount,just spare my daughter. I beg of you.. please” Mum pleaded in tears.
«JUST SO YOU KNOW; TAMARA WESTON IS IN THE LAST STAGE OF HER PAYBACK. I’VE SEALED IT AND THERE’S NOTHING THAT CAN CHANGE IT».

“Quilah please,I’m the cause of all this. Take my life instead” Ellen said.
«OFCOURSE YOU ARE THE CAUSE OF EVERYTHING BUT YOU AREN’T THE ONE I GRANTED A WISH SO I CAN’T TAKE YOUR LIFE,YOU WILL STILL GET PUNISHED FOR DISOBEYING ME BEFORE I LEAVE»
“Mrs Q..quilah please we don’t want to lose Mara. Spare her please,she won’t come to you again” Laura pleaded.

«AHAH, THAT’S IMPOSSIBLE! I SHOULD HAVE KILLED HER IMMEDIATELY BUT I GAVE HER A YEAR TO LIVE,YOU ALL SHOULD GO CUDDLE HER BEFORE THIS YEAR RUNS OUT»
“Quilah please don’t let me die,i don’t want to die…please” I pleaded in tears.

“Please”
“Quilah please” Everyone chorused and started begging on their knees.

«YOUR PLEAS CAN’T CHANGE A THING,CAUSE IT HAS ALL BEEN SEALED AND MOREOVER I DON’T LISTEN TO PLEAS,ONCE YOU COME TO ME THEN GET READY TO PAY ME BACK. I DON’T GRANT WISHES FREELY»
“Even if she has to pay back, does it have to be with death. That’s s..so c..c.. cruel” Liam said.
«LIAM WESTON,I WON’T WANT TO PUNISH YOU CAUSE NO ONE GETS OUT OF MY PUNISHMENT ALIVE,BUT I’M GONNA WARN YOU…MIND THE WAY YOU SPEAK IN MY PRESENCE IF YOU DON’T WANT TO DIE EARLIER THAN YOUR SISTER»

“Please, don’t ki*ll Mara. Let her live,she did all she did for me. Please spare her” Bryan begged.
«BRYAN SHAW,KEEP TO YOURSELF AND SPARE YOUR PARENTS. YOUR FATHER IS ON A BUSINESS TRIP RIGHT? WOULD YOU LOVE TO HIS SHIP TO CAPSIZE?»
“No!! Please don’t do that, don’t hurt my dad” Bryan cried.
«NO ONE SHOULD PLEAD TO ME ANYMORE,I WON’T WANT TO HURT ANYONE BEFORE LEAVING…TAMARA WESTON PAYBACK IS SEALED AND ,THERE IS NO GOING BACK!!!»

“Quilah, please take me instead,don’t ki*ll Mara.. please” Ellen said.
“No! Take me instead” Bryan said.

«DONT GET ME PISSED!» Quilah thundered and two white birds flew out of her mouth.
Laura bursted into tears and others gasped.

I was not surprised but worried, Quilah is so serious and i know there’s truly no going back.
There’s just a year left for me.
A year!
I’m not gonna see this faces anymore.
I don’t want to believe this but i just have to.
I will be gone soon.

Mum cried silently looking at me, seeing her sad and knowing I’m the cause of her sadness is one of my worst fears.
Who would have believed i would visit a goddess.
Everyone is so disappointed at me,I’m also disappointed at myself.
What will happen to my dream of becoming a surgeon.
I’ve always said it’s death that will stop me from becoming a surgeon and i think that’s what’s happening.

«OFCOURSE IT’S DEATH THAT’S GONNA STOP YOU FROM BECOMING A SURGEON»
“Did you say anything about that?” Liam asked.
“No,she reads thoughts” I said.
“Really?”
“Yes”

«I THINK ITS HIGH TIME I LEFT BUT ELLEN BLAISE I SAID I WAS GOING TO PUNISH YOU»
“Quilah please”
«I DON’T LISTEN TO PLEAS,I DO WHAT I WANT..IF I DON’T WANT TO PUNISH YOU THEN I WON’T»
“Then why did you want to punish her,you can spare her if you want but you chose to be cruel” Liam blurted.

“Liam” I whispered and nudged him with my arm.
«LIAM WESTON..MIND! YOUR! SPEECH!» Quilah warned.
«THE ONLY REASON I’LL SPARE YOU IS BECAUSE TAMARA WILL BE GONE IN A YEAR»
“I’m gonna make sure my sister do not die” Liam said.
Quilah laughed «IN YOUR DREAMS»

🌹James POV🌹

I sat in a restaurant far away from the house with the two necklaces in my left hand while i used my right hand to sip the juice i ordered..
I can’t just sit here staring into space.. that’ll be absurd.

I wonder the reason Liam gave me this necklaces and told me to walk far away from home.
His face was tear streaked and i noticed all wasn’t going well inside the house.

I just hope everyone of them is safe.
Come to think of it, this necklaces are so beautiful.
I smiled as i touched the name engraved on it.
I only know Bryan and Mara are the lucky fans at fallen angels concert.
I would have loved to go with them to the concert.

I’m starting to get bored here,I’m on my third glass of juice.
Liam gave me some dollar bills and said i shouldn’t return home till he calls me.
I kept checking my phone but his calls weren’t coming in.
I’m starting to get hungry.
I picked the menu from the table and scanned through it.

I signalled to the waitress,she rushed over.

“Do you need another glass of juice sir?” She asked.
“No. Serve me fries and chicken” I said.
“Okay” She bowed and left.

The restaurant is a bit crowded,i kept glancing from table to table waiting for my order.
Most of the tables are filled up.
I glanced at the last table and noticed the guy was staring at me.
Not at me exactly but the necklaces in my palm.

He’s obviously admiring it.
The waitress returned with my order,placed it on the table.
“Thanks” I said.
“Wow! Are you one of the lucky fans?” She asked staring at the necklace.
I smiled…”No I’m not but my siblings are”
“Wow,your siblings are so lucky..i searched for this necklace when it was thrown but i wasn’t lucky” She said.

“Aww” I sighed.
“Can I touch it?” She asked.
“Of course” I said.
She touched it and grinned widely.
“OMG it’s so cool” She said.
“Yes it is” I said wanting her to leave already.
“Thanks” She said and scampered away.

I sighed and started eating.

“Hi” I heard and glanced up from the table.
I just finished eating.
It was the man who was admiring the necklaces.
I smiled “Hello”
“Mind if i share the table with you?” He asked.
“No,you are free to sit” I said.
“Thanks” He sat and dropped his glass cup of wine on the table.

If Liam doesn’t call soon..I’m just gonna leave.

“This necklaces look so beautiful” The man said.
“Yeah it does” I said.
“It’s gonna worth a large sum of money” he said.
“Of course it will”
“It looks so raw and it’s an original gold” He said.
I shrugged.

“Do you own it?” He asked.
I shook my head “My siblings do”
“Wow. They gave it to you right?” He asked.
“Hmm..yeah”
“Good! You can make a fortune out of this necklaces” He said starting to confuse me.

“A fortune? I don’t get what you are saying” I said.
“I mean this necklaces costs a lot,you can make a fortune out of it” He said.
“I don’t own it..” I said.
“Your siblings do right? They shouldn’t question you if you don’t return it to them” He said.
I chuckled…”They are not actually my siblings, I’ve been working for them as a gate keeper for years,so i became part of the family and what do you mean by they won’t question it if i don’t return it to them? They only gave me to hold it for some hours” I said.

“Huh you mean you’re their gatekeeper?” He asked and i nodded.
“Wow, you can stop being a gatekeeper and also build your mansion with fleet of cars and a lot of money” He said confusing me more.
“I don’t get,can you please go straight to the point..I’m confused here” I said.

“Okay,i mean I’m ready to buy this necklaces for a valuable amount of money” He said and i laughed.
“That will be nice but i can’t sell it” I said.
“Why?” He asked.
“It isn’t mine,it will be so wrong to do that” I said.
“But they already took you as family,so they won’t bother you if you don’t return it” He said.

“Does that sound good to your ears? They hold the necklaces in high esteem and i dare not return without it”
“You don’t even have to return to that house,once you sell it to me now, there are some bags of dollars in my car. I will give one to you and then you go set up your life” He said cunningly.

“I don’t need the money,I’m very okay with that house,i should have left there a long time ago but this people treated me well,i sometimes forget I’m a gatekeeper…I was offered a good job in their company but i declined.. being their gatekeeper is enough for me” I said.

“Do you wish to remain their gatekeeper forever? Sell this necklaces to me and take a bag of dollars. Then you set up your life” He said.
” Why are you so interested in buying this necklaces?” I asked.
“Uhh..i love it,it’s so beautiful” he said.
“Then go to a jewelry store and purchase one,there are others that are more beautiful than this” I said.

“Of course i know but i so much prefer this ones,i love them so much” He said.
“Okay,just take a pics of the necklaces and go to a jeweler to engrave the same for you” I said.
“Why don’t you do that after I give you the money,your siblings will never find out cause it’s gonna look exactly the same” He said.

“That’s an inhumane act,i can’t do that,the only thing i can do for you is to allow you take the pics” I said and held the necklaces tightly.
This man looks so desperate.

“Sell this to me please,do you know how much you will earn? Okay just name any price,I’m gonna give you” He said.
“I don’t need money! This necklaces aren’t mine,I can’t sell it okay?” I said.
“Com’on man,just it to me.. okay I’m gonna give you all the bags of dollars in my car” He said.

“Just for this necklaces?” I asked.
“Of course”
“That’s making me suspicious,looks like you have an ulterior motive,if you will excuse me” I said and stood up from the chair.
“Sit down man,let’s talk this out” he said.

I slipped the bill of my meal on the table and started walking out of the cafeteria.
I got outside and breathed in fresh air.
Liam should just call,i need to get out of this place.

“Damn!” I muttered when i noticed the man followed me outside.
“Chill man,I’m ready to pay anything for those necklaces” He persisted.
I ignored him.

I grinned when my phone rang,i brought it out of my pocket expecting it to be Liam but it was Max.

📞Hey buddy, where are you? He asked.

📞The restaurant in the fourth estate.

📞What you doing there!” He asked.

📞Liam called me out and gave me those necklaces,that i should move far away from home till he calls me.

📞 Really!

📞Yeah,I’ve been expecting his call and I’m so bored of staying here.

📞You need to start coming home, Mara’s classmates are here and they’ve been banging the gate but i gat no key with me.

📞Oh..my really?

📞Yeah.

📞I’m on my way already.

I disconnected the call and started running home ignoring the calls of that pester.

🌹Mara’s POV🌹

We were all silent,we heard the banging of gate but no one could go out cause Quilah has control over the door.

Of course she’s still here!

She said she feels like parading our entire living room before leaving.
Who does that?
Ellen was crying, Quilah vowed to hurt her before she leaves.

There were tears in others eyes but tears wasn’t rolling down my cheeks anymore.
I’m tired of crying.

«I WILL BE LEAVING IN SOME MINUTES,I SHOULDN’T HAVE STAYED THIS LONG BUT I FOUND COMFORT IN YOUR LIVING ROOM»
“That doesn’t mean you should come visiting anytime you please,you are not welcome here” Liam said.
«Hahaha THANKS YOUR STARS I ALREADY VOWED NOT TO HURT YOU»
“You can hurt me or ki*ll me instead,i think that will be better than seeing my sister die” Liam said.

«LIAM WESTON YOU ARE GETTING ON MY NERVES!!»

“Liam” Mum scolded.
“Mum s..”
“Shut up” Mum interrupted him.
“You think you can brace up to her right? Do you think we can hold her down if she kills you..I’m still trying to bare your sister’s and yet you are trying to call on your own death” Mum said.
“I’m sorry Mum” He muttered.

«WHATEVER!! GOOD THING YOU REPRIMANDED HIM,I WAS STARTING TO GET PISSED AND I WOULD HAVE HURT HIM WITHOUT HESITATION» She said and produced a glass cup of reddish liquid with just her fingers.
She gulped it down and threw the glass cup in the air.

I gasped so as others, thinking it’s gonna shatter into pieces but it seems we all forgot who Quilah is.
The glass cup disappeared and she turned to Ellen who sniffled and wiped off her tears.

«ELLEN BLAISE,ITS TIME FOR ME TO LEAVE AND I GUESS YOU KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS»
“Quilah i beg of you,just spare me this once” Ellen pleaded.

«IMPOSSIBLE!! I’M NOT GONNA ki*ll YOU,JUST A LITTLE PUNISHMENT» She said and was about to point her staff to Ellen when the door bursted open.
We all turned in surprise to see James.

He was rushing in and slipped in the process,the necklace flew out of his hand and went high in the air.
We all watched as it landed on Quilah.
She seems stuck to where she stood.
She was not able to move and her cheeks has turned pale green.
Her staff and wings disappeared and large green veins stuck out of her body.
She screamed like she’s in pains but i guess she’s performing one of her magics.

Can Quilah ever scream in pains.
She screamed louder holding tightly to her body..this time i don’t think she’s performing any magic..
She’s truly screaming in pains!
What happened?
Wait..t..is it the necklace?
Wow!

“Jeez-us christ!!” James exclaimed loudly.
“What’s this?” He asked in fear and ran out of the living room.
We were all still in shock.

“Everyone get up” Liam said.
We all stood up staring at Quilah in amazement,she kept turning in one direction screaming and hugging her body.
Her white hair was starting to turn black and her red robe was magically turned into shredded clothes.

“OMG She’s been attacked!” Laura screamed and threw the remote control at her.
It landed on her forehead and she held it in pains.
Wow..the remote control affected her!
“This is so shocking!” Kelly exclaimed.
“What happened to her?” Bryan asked.
“OMG!” Mum gasped.

“Good for her,i think the necklaces affected her, you know the necklaces is forbidden to her” Liam said picked the vase.
He also threw it at her.

“Serves her right!!” Ellen yelled and pulled off her jacket,she started Quilah with it, hitting her so hard.
I was surprised when everyone also picked something and started hitting Quilah even Mum!
They were all swearing at her as they threw things at her.

I must not miss this opportunity…even if im still gonna die,it won’t be bad if i also beat the hell out of Quilah.
I picked the empty magazine rack and hit it right on her head.

I continued hitting her and damn! It felt so good.
Who would have thought we will be beating the almighty Quilah.

“Wicked witch”

“So cruel”

“Disgusting”

“Ugly goddess”

“Dumbass”

“Quilah to hell with you!!”

“Rot in hell!” We all chorused hitting her hard.

We all shifted back when dark smoke suddenly started emanating from her body.
Her whole body turned into ashes and melted away.

“We are free!!” Ellen yelled in excitement.
“Yesssss” we chorused happily hugging one another.
“I’m glad i beat her up real bad” Liam chuckled.
“I’m Quilah, the great goddess of wishes” Laura mocked and we all laughed hard.

Bryan and i quickly picked the necklace and wore it round our necks.
“Liam you almost killed us” Bryan said.
“Well…thank God i didn’t”
“Quilah is gone” Ellen jumped happily and we all laughed again.

Our classmates suddenly rushed in surprising the hell outta us.
Wait…they were the one banging the gate!…Haha.

I’m glad Quilah is gone but does that mean i will not die in a year?
