Chapter 22

It seemed her fear was answered by the doctor. As if he already had enough bad things to say.

“The only thing I can suggest is to call this number.”

She slowly rose her puffy eyes and in her vision, a crinkled post it note took it’s place.

A neatly resided number scratched the surface and she gazed at it in confusion.

“What’s this?”

He didn’t answer and gestured for her to take it.

Slowly abiding, she glanced briefly at him before shakily taking the post it note and reading it to herself.

“I’ll let you use my phone,” he offered.

She quietly typed the number and pressed the call button. A lingering hope she mustered at this opportunity. She didn’t know who to expect on the other line.

Maybe the government?

Another doctor?

Maybe the black market.

The phone finally connected.

“Hello? Damien Mason speaking,” the familar voice said.

Daniella widened her eyes in shock and quickly wiped her eyes with the back of her hand.

“Damien?” she said in surprise.

“Daniella, is that you?

“Wait, why did the doctor make me call you?” she asked confused.

“If you didn’t know, Damien Corporations owns this hospital,” he said.

Daniella felt her blood drain from her face.

“Don’t tell me you’re the one who banned my family from the hospital?” she realised flabbergasted.

“If you want the simple answer, then yes I did.”

She furrowed her eyebrows and suddenly felt betrayed.

“Why? We have done anything to you!” she retaliated.

“I thought that if you wouldn’t marry me, I would have to make sure you had to come to me by force.”

Daniella squinted her eyes suspiciously,

“What do you mean ‘by force’?”

“You know how you were forced to move out? Or when you were blacklisted from all those motels? Then you are now banned from this hospital? ”

Daniella was a little shocked,

“How did you know all that?”

“Because I was the one who bought the motel. I also blacklisted you from both the motels and the hospital,” he said bluntly.

Daniella took a second to let it sink in but when she did, she felt her world crashing down around her.

“You were the one who was messing with my family all this time? Everything that’s been happening, was all because of you?” she asked in a whisper.

“Yes, but only because I care about you,” he replied.

“This you caring?” she gritted her teeth.

“I did this all for you.”

She almost threw the phone onto the ground.

“What exactly did I do to you? Did I make you angry somehow? Why are doing all this to us?” she said with tears of frustration in her eyes.

“You didn’t anger me at all, quite the opposite. I want you by my side. I want you to marry me, Daniella.” he said with a soft voice.

Her blood boiled.

“Fvck you! I’m not marring some psych0path that ruined my family’s life for his own selfish wish.”

“Now, now. I want you to think about this rationally, Daniella. Your family is practically ostracized by any motel or hospital. I’m currently working on shopping centres and car dealers. Soon, your family won’t be able to enter society at all.”

“Are you threatening me?” she asked in complete shock.

“I wouldn’t call it a threat. More like a healthy suggestion on how to live a better life. So you could either marry me and receive anything you could ask for, or refuse my proposal and let your family rot. Of course it’s your choice,” he said gaudily.

Daniella couldn’t help but clench her fists in frustration.

To her, he was a complete psych0.

She just now realised that she had made a huge mistake in meeting one of the most powerful man in the business world who wanted to marry her.

She thought about how he ruined her family’s life in just a matter of months.

If what he said was true, he could really ban them from being able to do anything.

Her family would actually die on the street.

‘What should I do?’

While playing back his threat, she clenched her fists and thought about her dad and mom.

“I fvcking hate you, you psych0,” she seethed through her teeth.

“My dad better be fine.”

“Tell me your answer.”

She clenched her jaw and breathed in slowly whilst saying,

“Fine. I’ll fvcking marry you.”

Even from the phone, even if she couldn’t see him, she could imagine him smirking.

“You hear that Dr. Davis?”

The doctor sighed from the side.

She only realized that he had been listening to them the entire time.

He sighed,

” Come along, we have a private room for you.”
